Please could you tell me how you can tell when to water your succulents with all that topdressing?

I absolutely love your videos and I think you are so knowledgeable! I have just created a succulent planter. During the planting process many leaves broke off so I will be propagating those. How soon after planting up the trough should I water it?

I need help..now that I've dressed my succulent with pumice..I don't know how to tell when the plant needs water anymore because I can't see the soil. And when I try to move the pumice out of the way to stick my finger in the soil the pumice falls in the hole and on the table...big mess... There must be a better way to do this.. Moisture meters don't work well in my succulent soil because it has much gravel and things in it that the moisture meter hits and doesn't accurately tell the moisture so I can't use those.

    You have great fingernails!
I actually use decomposed granite and granite. I smash my own because where I live there is just so much of it so I can tell the difference between hard granite and the decomposed granite so I usually separate it and mainly use the decomposed granite for my soil amendment and the prettier granite as my top dressing. I can't believe how many people in my Facebook groups are constantly asking about fungus gnats and I keep telling them diatomaceous earth and top dressing!have a wonderful Christmas Thang,⛄🎄

Thank you! my nail esthetician friend says it's shit lololol. But yeah, definitely how I take care of fungus gnats too but you know people don't really particularly listen on facebook.

I love topdressing for cosmetic reasons but I can’t monitor soil moisture with material on top. Any advice?

Thank you for sharing your succulent knowledge. You have very beautiful plants! I would like to know the name of the Echeveria (violet blue) that appears at the beginning of this video. Thank you in advance for your attention. Greetings from Guadalajara Mexico.
