An in depth of Winter Care Water and Root Rot ruclips.net/video/7gPjuVhw-wk/видео.html
7:36 Gets rid of the furniture to bring in more growing capacity. Classic!
This is the craziest thing that has happened to me in I don't know how long!!
The first song in this video was stuck in my head because I've been binge playing it today, then I hear it in the video and I thought the song was playing in another tab. Lol
That just blew my mind.
I’m just in awe of how many succulents and plants that you have!!
That's amazing that your mom is willing to give up the living room for your plants every winter! I've been enjoying your channel alot.
+meezergurl awwwww thankyou!!! My mom loves them as well so she doesnt mind at all and besides she has all her adeniums on the windowsills
I always look forward to your videos. Cool personality and beautiful plants! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks alot!!! Hopefully no longer sick
My major problem is that my plants pout when I bring them inside. There is always a period where they act like they are going to die as soon as I bring them inside. They seem to just hate it inside my home.
I have never had any mealy bugs or other pests but I don’t have as many plants as you do. I also have them on a porch during the spring, summer, and part of fall. I check them before I bring them inside.
I don’t have the expensive shelves that some people have but I have Origami shelves that I have bought good LED “shop lights” that have high Kalvins and high lumens.
So far this winter season I have not lost any plants. I have done more study of which ones are dormant in the summer and which ones are dormant in the winter. I think that I almost have had it straight in my mind although some may grow during both seasons. I like to have some of both so I have some succulents in their growing season during all seasons.
Thank you Thang! ☺️
You’re welcome 😊
OMG! I can imagine how much work it must have been to move all of them. I would move my succulents around to control sun exposure, so I know how much work it could be. I am still to experience winter here in my new place in Brentwood, CA. So, wish me luck! In San Bruno, where I'm from, lowest temp was just in the 40's to 50's. :-) that's in degrees centigrade...:-)
Good info! I thought yellow leaves meant they were over watered.
It also means over watered as well! I'm encountering on some of my echeverias right now where they're lacking water and their leafs are turning yellow and translucent
Thank you very much for the tips on how to take care my succulents during winter time..😘😊is it fine if we also cultivate them?
Thank you for that helpful information. I’m just new in collecting succulents and cacti and I’m nervous this coming winter since this will be my first winter with my beautiful plants. Hope all of them will survive. I’m in Toronto and looking for more varieties of succulents that can survive in our weather. Thank you and may God bless you! 😊
Remember to take care of our Succulents during the Winter! Less Water!
Thank you for the information it was very helpful. Question, my succulent is in the window seal, but I’ve noticed that the bottom leaves are yellow and falling off.. the top of the succulent is growing more leaves. Is it normal for the bottom leaves to turn yellow and fall in the winter?
Thank you for your knowledge, very good, I’ll be following you!
Thank you for your information. It helps me a lot. I will take your advice and prepare for upcoming winter. Love from Texas. 🤠
SAME and also from Texas lol
not to sure about the final tip. I was told many times yellow leaves mean it’s overwatered
nice collection. They will go dormant if the temp is lower then say 60F with no light and very little to no water.
Great video !
Which colour of LED grow light work best for euphorbia milli ?
I m using blue - red at the moment .
Thanks
Excellent information ! Thanks.
I'm having a horrible time drilling glass and you didn't show that in a video. Could you tell us the best way to drill heavy and regular glass? Thank you Thang. 😊
you don't drill glass unless you have a press machine that has water flowing through and lots of safety gear.
Okay one more comment. I should really wait until the end of the video before doing this lol. Thats last plant that you showed that had the yellow leaves. If they are not dried out but wet and sort of translucent it may mean the stem has rot. Looks soooo similar. I lost an echeveria to that recently. I had been watering too much for the amount of light it was getting which was quite decreased. :/
+Denise Jackson I've had a few casualties already cause of this. I think it's because it was raining so much a few days before they came in and thought it was underwater since I havent been watering them for weeks now
育成ライト素晴らしいです😊
so i got some succulents around mid summer and fell in love with them so i got 5 total that sit by my window all the time. it's getting pretty cool during the night now(about 3 Cesius).. i usually always lean my window so that i have some fresh air in my room but idk if that's alright for my succulents, do you think that should be alright or should i put them somwhere else?
Can you water plants with ice cubes
Just a suggestion ☺. Get some Shelves so you could store more and save space?
Good video, thanks. I've always liked Canada. Curious - I'm in Ohio in a small place with hardly any windows. I'd like to keep them in the window for sun but that'd leave them pretty cool if I was to draw the curtains. The natural solution is to keep the curtains open but I really like to keep them closed. Would they be ok if the temp was kept at 50-60° F (10-15°C)?
One more question. :) I seem to be noticing my baby succulents that were recently graduated from their propagation leaves need more water. Do they go dormant when they are tiny? or do they continue to be actively growing. They are in a south facing window so lots of light. *edit* I have the same fan as you. Youre right i dont really think its great for air flow.
+Denise Jackson I don't believe baby ones are dormant like the grown up ones. We're still watering them and it's been fine
Thank you! :)
you have huge collections they are beautiful.
Thanks Succer 👍🏽
This was such a great video!!
Hello Thang, how many k for t5 and LED do you use or reccomend and will safer insecticide ruin the leaves color. Thank you.
Just wondering.. Do you know where mealybugs come from? Are they already in our homes? Or do you have to bring an infected plant in? Im well versed in scale but not as much mealybugs.
+Denise Jackson they're coming from the soil!!! That's why in my prep video I said to spray the soil as well.
Oh yikes hehe Thanks :)
+Denise Jackson yep yep, they lay a bunch of eggs inside waiting for the right temperature to hatch
Oh thats lovely. Good thing i stare at my plants every day lol. I did have them in the spring but got rid of them sort of easily as it was only two affected succulents and a coffee plant that I just threw out. R.I.P Coffee Plant. Thankfully Im well stocked on alcohol! :)
yep yep so you gotta keep watching your plants weekly or biweekly! they're usually not around during the summer cause it's too hot for them to hatch
Thanks for sharing your awesome collection. Where do you purchase your succulents especially the rare ones? I'm from Toronto. I have exhausted Home Depot and smaller garden centres near my area. The online ones that ship to Canada are not as varied as well. Thanks for any tips you can share.
Thanks! I usually go to Kim's Nature or Crystal Star Orchid, they are very far away from Toronto but they also ship as well...during the warmer season though
Thanks. I'll check them out.
What if I just keep my succulents inside my house should I still use the pest control spray?
It gets cold ny should I get a heater for my succulents
It gets super cold in Mongolia
I bet if u & I would go on a "diet", not buying anymore succulents for 1-2 years, we can then afford the fancy grow lights with shelves!😜
+Christina Eilers that I'd what winter is for lol... I've stopped buying them at the moment and noticed my.bank account has more. Monies lol
EveryThang 😁I'm still struggling on how to fit all my plants under grow lights! My husband refuses to help me...boo hoo😢😁!
+Christina Eilers I just use strings to hang the lights up. Your husband needs to startoving succulents as well!!!
EveryThang a
I don't have as many succulents as u do but I seem to have more than enough!😁
+Christina Eilers how many do you have if you don't mind me asking
EveryThang Hmm...not quite as many as you though, I think less than 200. Mostly small pots, I just started thus hobby about 2 years ago. And still, my husband thinks I'm a hoarder!😁😁
wow!!! That's way more than mine collection lol...
EveryThang Well, I'm sorry, I lied. I tried counting how many I have & I keep losing track. Short attention span!😁 Looks like I have 50-ish. Too many little ones! Looks like u have 500+!!
Doesnt it hurt blooming in the summer if the plants get no winter cold period?
Nope
I live in Texas, weather is 70° to 60° mine can stay outside right?
I don’t know where you live in Texas but in Austin it freezes 7-10 nights a winter typically - keep your eye on the forecast. for those times I put towels underneath my pots and throw frost cloth on top. I use wooden chopsticks to raise the cloth above my plants! Other than that they stay outside and are totally fine
@@alexcollins71090 same here!!! I live in Texas and had to bring all my succulents inside we are expecting a winter storm tomorrow, snow and -3 😑 I’m trying to propagate from leaves right now and I’m so afraid they’re not going to make it😭
@@yaima0901 WOW, -3 is cold cold cold!! Holy cow, our state is crazy. And here I was worried for my babies with lows in the 40s for the next week! Stay warm and cozy and good luck with your props! I haven't had any experience with that part of the hobby yet (even though I've done it a dozen times, repotting still intimidates me at this point) so I'm really rooting for you! ;)
@@alexcollins71090 it’s actually snowing right now🥺 all my plants are inside but I recently bought a few that I need to re pot and I’m not sure if I can do it with this weather and I’m definitely thinking about getting a grow led light! Yours will be just fine! Good luck 🍀
We should share our winter experiences with each other 😆
Cool Thanks for the Video! I've some questions:
When I have my succulents on the balcony and get them inside before it gets below 5 Celsius, they would winterize in a living room with 22 Celsius - is that too warm for them? I dont have the possibility to put them somewhere bright, dry and cool (10 Celsius)... I'm really struggling with that problem :(
45C is too warm for them =) -3C is too cold for them =)
So fun watching 🙃
Thanks a lot!!!
Which succulent fertilizer or food you use n when.
Any thing with the first number which is nitrogeb 5 or below
So happy 😆☺
Do you leave the grow lights on all night?
Only 12-14 hours, plants do need sleep too!
thanks!
Found this channel and SO glad, finally someone that's in zone 5 - earned a sub from me and will definitely be watching!
I LOOOOOVE YOUUUU
