How do you reduce the water tho when the plant gets thirsty ??? I have some of mine that start to get deflated/ wrinkly etc and then I get nervous for them
You have the best videos for wintering succulents. I am new to this and live in a cold climate. My succulents are beautiful thru the summer and I was wondering how to winter them to keep them. You are the BEST!
Great information in this video, I learned a lot about pigments. Light intensity is also a major factor in getting plants to color up. My light is extremely bright and I have just as vivid colors with less hours and more watering (I get it up to 18 hours in the summer). I don't like the dehydrated look of a lot of your plants to be honest.
18 hours of light?! Wow. I might just switch over to that and see how it goes because I struggle to provide cold enough temps to get those winter colors with my indoor apartment setup
Hi Thang, great info, good lecture from a fellow Canadian, now i learned about light and water from your video, can you please impart what kind of soil you are using? That can withstand weeks or months without watering? Is it plant specific? Or you use same soil for all uour plants?
Thank you for breaking it down where we can understand. I learned a lot. I thought it was magic that they turn colors lol You gave me insight to the science behind it. Thank you again!
It's summer here in Philippines. My succulents are placed outdoor with no shade under heat that ranges 32-36 degrees. But it doesn't change its pigment. I tried not to water for two weeks and it lost much leaves. But my black prince became darker and pushed a lot of pups but stopped growing. Atleast its dark and got many pups under it.
Succulents are amazing aren't they? It is weird that the more we stress them, the prettier they appear to our eyes. Love your ramblings, anyway. Hello from Malaysia! ❤️
Nice informative video ! Personally I think most of your plants don't look great at all, it almost looks like they are sick, but that's a matter of preference. I prefer less shriveled leaves and blister-type things. The intensity of the light is also important. I would never give any plant less than 8 hours of darkness, my succulents that receive 14 hours of 2000-3000 footcandles of light a day also have nice pinkish colouring, but look a lot healthier than yours. But yeah they might be less compact, but at least they grow !
Hi, I'm thinking about doing this as a school project which I will have all school year to work on and anyways I was just wondering if there are succulents that stress faster than others, and if so what type of succulents are easier to stress?
Great tips JustThangToo. I learnt so much. I spent years establishing my collection and now that it's established I had no idea they could go for months without water because in their early days when I worked full time I'd forget to water them and they'd die. Really enjoyed your tips and cant wait to get more colours. Have you got any videos of how to get your cacti flowers not to die? I have a cacti that after 3 years finally grew a few buds but was really disappointed when I went out yesterday to find them all dead :(
Does giving succulents proper full sun bring out colors as well? I've got ovata compacta (jade compacta) and I've seen others with soo much orangey red. Also my sedum I think it is fire storm but never gave enough sun to see the orange coloration. I think I see a bit coming thru with my vipaspectra grow light 600w dimmable led, I think they love it
some are done with full sun, others are done with high or low temperature and others are a combination of both. So if you want red, colder temps will bring them out. If you wanter yellow orange and hotter temps and bright sun will do.
Very informative. I keep my Succulents under grow lights cuz i don't have good natural sun light. What type of lights do you recommend? I just watered my BBS today. I'll be pushing to 1 month for the next round & see if that helps.
@@lordshitpost31 too much light makes it worse. Plants usually curl up or give up certain parts of the plant in order to reserve water. If eveythings rapidly dying at the bottom and not showing signs of color stressing its possible green is just its natural color and youre killing it
Hi thang. I live in the Philippines and the temperature rises at a maximum of 45 degrees celcius. Is it still OK if I just leave them outside for 8 hours daily without watering them for a month? I hoping for your answer. Thank you.
I've tried to sun bath my babies like 6-8 hours, but the leaves burnt and it stressed me out, now i'm just leave it on morning sunlight from 8am to 10 am..and put them in shade area, i'm still learning how to balancing the amount of light my babies need, which some will curl up, some elongated..what do you suggest sir? I want them to be colourfull as they were ..tq in advance
Hi thang! I live in a tropical country and yes we are blessed with full sun all through out the year, but my concern is sometimes the heat is just too intense sometimes like during summer .what do you think is more better : give my korean succulents natural light from the sun right after they arrive from shipping , or Simply use a growlight indoor for a couple of weeks before introducing them outside.. please help..thnx ..how do you do yours when the arrive... your response will be much appreciated..
hi, thanks for this video, it was super helpful, I was wondering how you manage to keep the plants outside without them burning? ive had a few that like to burn before they stress, and I know they're not supposed to be green 😕thanks x
Everything dies...except for amoeba(s), which just split itself and keep on living indefinitely since it is performing infinite cloning. Anyways, I tried stressing my plants and just wound up getting my baby beans (that's what I call my succulents) sunburned.
How come you don’t pay for electricity ? I just discovered and subscribed, I’m absolutely LOVING your channel! You are really knowledgeable and absolutely hilarious!
Newbie to growing plants so still learning alot so expect alot of questions my friend haha I live in the UK in a flat (apartment) like you no outside space but have a large South facing bay window which gets full sun from rise to set(when it is sunny in the UK ofcourse) will that be enough light or will I still need to buy a light do you think? this will be my 1st time growing succulents from seeds how many do u think I should get from 500seeds as I know not all will grow but want at least 100?
Can someone answer me this, cuz I didn't understand, if I manage to produce a purple for example succulent, and I take its leaves and "born" new ones, they will for ever be purple ?
If i try to stress them, they start to dehydrate ( soft, wrinkled leaves ). Is it best to keep stressing them until i water them like 2x a month or just water them whenever they’re dehydrated?
It stresses me out that I have to stress my succulents. It goes so hard against what I know about plants, but I love succulents so much ❤️

Thanks for the info. I will immediately switch from weekly watering to monthly. Also, your personality cracked me up several times.
oh..my..gosh...do you think that he is ....happy?
your shirt is so cute and sad at the same time...but mostly adorable
I love this video! What spectrum of light do they need to bring out the colors?? Red? Blue? UV???
It doesn't really prefer one wavelength of light to another. Just keep it in shaded areas, they'll show you their beauty
Good explanation! Do you anything to feed your succulents or only water?
Excellent knowledge. I definitely will try. Thanks. What is the best mix soil for succulent.

My black prince produced 2 pups n momma is looking very sad, she may be dying and the 2 pups' colors are not too bright😐
What if I let them expose to full morning light, but they were ended up sunburn? What is the proper way?
You are so fortunate that you know all about these and we need to learn from you and subscribing your channel.
What kind of grow light do you use. LED? 6500K?
Will incandescent light work?

Hey do you adjust the length of time you have the lights on during different seasons? Summer/Winter?
Can fertilizer help
Lol I neglected my succulents by accident and left them out in the full sun for ages. They look SO good now 😅😂 so it really does work.
Thank you for the explaining you make it so much easier to understand, thanks again.
What are those u use as the soil for it 😔 i need to know
thanks so much for that very detail information i understand quite well after watching the video lovely succs happy growing
Do u use artificial lighting in winter to keep them from getting leggy? Or do u think the lack of water prevents legginess in Winter? Thx
Hi, I'm thinking about doing this as a school project which I will have all school year to work on and anyways I was just wondering if there are succulents that stress faster than others, and if so what type of succulents are easier to stress?
Echeveria usually have alt colorations, but most succulents equally stress at the same rate depending on how you care/introduce it.
I've had a couple sedums that change quickly
Nice n informative video.....thnz...I really need to stop the urge to water them n put them in shade...
Thnk u for clear instructions...
Thank you Thang.

Wow, I have killed quite a few of my succulents over the winter from over watering. But then, if plant is too dry, I get mealy bugs!
Can you recommend any specific grow lights that you’ve found works well?
Will your plants still grow without water?
HELP! what types of rock are those? Thanks :)
Thanks for explaining. You are amazing. Thanks so much.
Thank you for your help!!! I think now I know that my jade plant is being overwatered
Thanks Thang very helpful and informative !!
What’s the brown pebbles on top please?
Whenever I withhold water, the lower leaves start drying up 😭
It'll adapt over time, also might mean you don't have enough light

Can you go over succulent variegation? Like chemical induced and more?!?!
If newly potted from a nursery plastic, is it possible to put them in a full sunlight?
most likely

well most places that has intense sun use shades to shade 50% of the light. So maybe invest in plants shades for outside so they don't burn out
You are adorable and knowledgable!!!
What kind of light do you use?
How much water ONCE a month?? Full??
Hello, what kind of stone is it on top of your pots?
Akadama or turface or pumice or lava rocks anyone one of them will work
@@ThangPlants -why do you have the stone on top?
Where did you get that shirt?like it..
TeeTurtle!
When he says "Vatiegated Black Prince..." Holy S**t!!!!!
Are we giving up a faster growth in our succulents if we stress them out for pigmentation?
indoors yes, outdoors no
thankyou
How do you manage to stress them under the sun enough without them getting sun damaged ??
Are you still watering tour plants once a month?
No, maybe once or twice a week, they're currently all growing and I don't really care to stress them out.
My succulents are dying in summer because temperature in my country reaches to 42 degree Celsius in summer everyday I am so confused and concerned
Try growing cactus
Lots of great info
