Anyone wanting to make this blanket expect to spend at least least least 30 hours on it. This is a VERY complicated project for a beginner and if you’ve never crocheted before I don’t recommend this, it’ll be complicated at some parts and really stress you out. The granny square itself isn’t hard to make if you already know basic crochet, but weaving in the ends and trying to connect the blanket together will probably drive a beginner crazy. TIPS for if you are making this blanket: 1. PLEASE make four extra granny squares to practice connecting them! There’s so many different ways to sew granny squares together but a lot of them are actually pretty difficult to do properly. Go with something easy and seamless, and make sure to keep the same tension when using a method with a crochet hook. 2. Watch tutorials on how to weave in ends!! 3. Practice one or two full granny squares first and THEN make the pieces in bulk. Making all the middle circles first, then adding the petals, then adding the border will go so much fast than individually making the granny squares! 4. I CANNOT stress this part enough but get a tennis ball and put it on your crochet hook, you can look up videos on how to do it. And if you aren’t willing to buy a tennis ball at least get a padded crochet hook. This is a very long project that will have you in pain if you don’t use proper hooks/take proper breaks. Anyone considering making this blanket and isn’t 100% sure should try making a granny square bag first. Same concept just tinnier and with a strap. Keep in mind this project will run you up at least a $100 in yarn so you might want to start saving now or finding yarn all the same brand/color.
Yesss not to mention if you do smaller/medium sized ones you can knock those out in a day or 2! I’ve been crocheting my daughter little baby animals and she just loves them lol
What I love about crochet is that you make it yourself or a friend/family member makes you it. You can never buy it because nobody sells it, but you can make it. So the pieces are all the more special.
Tons of people sell it. It’s just very expensive, as it should be. , Unfortunately fast fashion has been selling it lately too. Those poor workers that work hard on it get coins for pay.
I recently started learning to crochet. I love this blanket so much! I love the grandma vibe. Maybe because I am one🥰 I’m learning to crochet by watching tutorials on RUclips. You did a beautiful job on this blanket.
Except I wouldn’t recommend making anything like this as a beginner unless it’s either 1) made of granny squares or 2) you know how to crochet around your body and it’s measurements. It’s hard to gauge what will actually fit you properly when just chaining and stitching, so it’s better to use things like granny squares to make clothes at first. It’ll make it so much easier to fix things that aren’t fitting properly because instead of completely unraveling it, you can just add/take away granny squares. I hope this helps anyone looking to start crocheting and helps them avoid making like 5 tops that don’t fit lol.
@@roum9 You can do things like fingerless gloves, where you just crochet a square/rectangle and stitch it together on the sides leaving room for a thumb hole. You can also make a bag. It’s usually pretty easy when it’s just granny squares and a strap. No weird sizing, no adaptations to fit your body (besides strap length), and no measurements needed. You make 8 or more granny squares, stitch them together into two panels (bigger squares) and then connect the bigger squares together on the sides and bottom. Then you crochet a strap and sew that onto the sides of your panels to make a tote bag. Try not to do something like pants, a shirt, a blanket, a sweater, or a bucket hat until you have a good amount of skill level. Half of my shirts don’t fit and I’ve made bucket hats wayyy too small, but the other half do and I now have hats that fit :) start slow, once you know how to slip stitch, magic circle, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and increase/decrease you should be able to make things like stuffed animals and pillows or pillow cases pretty easily. After that I’d say move onto clothes just so you don’t get discouraged or waste yarn on a larger project.
@@roum9 of course I wish you luck and don’t give up, it took me about a year before anything I made looked professional but now I can make pretty cool stuff:)
I’ve been crocheting for nearly 60 years and it’s nice to see young people involved in crocheting. By the way, I’m 61 and I’ve been crocheting since I was four years old.
Pretty blanket! I know the feeling, I just finished my first blanket ever as a Christmas present and now I need a new project. I don’t know if I should learn a new stitch or perfect the single crochet before moving on 😅
This is very helpful, thank you so much for your patience explaining and the clear steps. I'm just starting in crochet and this tutorial is amazing. I hope I can do a beautiful sueter with this tutorial ❤
You're my hero!!!! I'm learning to crochet and can't make the wool calm down and sit still. Lots of crying and ripping. Anyway, do the strawberry three D blanket, go on, you can do it.🎉

A sweater or top is fun and definitely would be less time consuming, AND you get to wear it!
