Free Julian Assange you evil hypocrites!
He was a spy. He need to be in jail
I hope he is freed soon.
“That’s exactly what a spy would say”
Would you admit it if he were?
Would Russia admit he wasn’t, if he wasn’t?
They’re hard to trust, since they’ve been caught lying to the world numerous times since last year.
Wouldn’t doubt they wanted to silence him by arrest, because THEY DO THAT TO THEIR OWN CITIZENS
😂
He's from an enemy country, and absorbed risk to his life by crossing enemy border. Nobody cares about this idiоt! 🤦🏻♀️
no
of course will not admit if he is
I hope he will be released soon

WSJ lost my trust years ago. Operation Mockingbird?
Funny, how he pretends to be a "journalist" as he crossed enemy country to snoop around 😂 LМАО 🤣😂🤣🤦🏻♀️
He’s of Russian decent, he grew up in Russian culture and speaks it proficiently, it’s been well documented why he’s reported in Russia, who btw absolutely didn’t need to invade Ukraine. Putin is on a mission for his Peter the great moment. Evans reporting was powerful and true and highlighted the disaster that is the Russian economy especially, THAT is why he was arrested.
Hope you come home soon!
It's not like he'd go around telling his colleagues at the WSJ that he was recruited by the DIA or CIA.
He's from an enemy country, and absorbed risk to his life by crossing enemy border. Nobody cares about this idiоt! 🤦🏻♀️
Reestablishing law and order is only possible if this is accomplished. Sadly, the current situation has allowed the ones with weapons to set the laws. Negotiating with terrorists is pointless, and military aid is the sole way to save all hostages.
This makes me so sad :(
Why? Dude made his choice, it's time to pay for it.
Seems as if Russia is on the verge of a civil war.
I wonder how many of these people have said ANYTHING about a real journalist such as Julian Assange.
I wonder if all those people who complain about the treatment of Julian Assange also stand up for this American journalist or do Moscow’s bidding….
@@Lorenz1973 you dont understand that Assange was a real journalist, not a hack working for the WSJ who stuck his nose too deep

You don’t understand that working as an investigative journalist in Russia is real journalism - read up what Gareth Jones did and what happened to him… learn some history… Walter Duranty spread Russian propaganda provided by the Kremlin 🤔 - so many people in the West just want to be played by the Kremlin….
@@Lorenz1973 no, working as an "investigative journalist" in a other country with different laws is just asking for trouble. You dont get to go to Rome and tell the people there how to live.

Yep. "Unprovoked" Invasion is another one. They think we're too stupid to research what the U.S. has pulled in Ukraine going back years from the coup, Nuland, McCain palling around with Nazis in burning Kiev etc.
The fact that everybody’s coming out saying that he’s not a spy with pretty much make everybody to believe that he was a spy
Russia has never provided evidence of espionage, the newspaper where the journalist worked denies all accusations, and the journalist is another hostage of the Putin regime, which is a lot at the moment, just as Russia is constantly violating human rights in the territories occupied by Ukraine, by torturing and murdering civilians, we must end it by destroying the Kremlin regime
You have to think about this question clearly. How could he be a spy in Russia that country started a war in Ukraine
The likelihood of being killed or taken captive for ransom is now the same as in Somalia due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, where everyday combat and lack of recognized authority make living in these regions extremely dangerous.
Well said
@@melidareichert6720 He was trying to get information about the work of defense factories. This is a very serious crime. He will be in prison for a long time.
- Are you sure you're not a spy?
- Of course not.
- How do we know you're telling the truth?
- The company I work for made a touching video saying that I am innocent and just looking for the truth.
- Well.... then you are completely justified.
Why would he spy when everyone knows he’s a reporter? Doesn’t leave much of a cover. What’s the alternative for WSJ? Tell everyone that he is in fact a spy?
Bro - the definition of a spy is somebody who secretly collects information. He's openly collecting information, so by definition, not a spy.
@@KhanJoltrane Have you reviewed James Bond? Show me a spy who will indicate in his application form, during employment, or in social networks that he is a spy and I will take back my words. Not to mention the "sleeping spies". Well, it's just logical to think who will least arouse suspicion when collecting data, a reporter or an ice cream man wandering around and collecting information? Well, do not forget that he was detained so far only on suspicion of espionage. It will be hard for you to believe, but there is a judicial system in Russia and it makes its decision based on the evidence obtained. And since there has not been a trial yet, it is too early to make loud statements. And such video materials pursue one goal - to put pressure on the feelings of the viewers and cause a public outcry. If he is not guilty, he will be released anyway. This, I think, is unnecessary.
@@bicker31 who do you think will be more suspicious of a janitor and an ice cream maker collecting "openly" information or a reporter? It's just a great cover. Russia's rejection confirms once again the Kremlin's terrorist tactics, which go beyond the military and also target civilians. Such actions must be put to an end. We must continue to support the Ukrainians in their struggle for complete independence from Russian aggression.
Or he's a journalist working for the wall street journal for many years reporting in Russia in exactly the same way we have reporters from.all over the world living in our countries reporting. His education is journalism... That's it. Russia would never take Americans hostage and be corrupt. Riiiiight.
That's what a spy would say.
Did they charge him or just kidnapped him illegally?
Probably both.
They don’t have to charge you for legitimate reasons. They can essentially accuse you, charge you, and find you guilty
This is the first time Russia has charged a foreign journalist. All times prior they have expelled them from the country.
Russia doesn't have a term "illegally". They catch you, then they create a law specifically for you. You clearly live in the West and clueless about developing world.

Let's see: American dude of Russian ethnicity enters an enemy country to investigate political topics. I'd say, his actions speak louder than words! He's clearly a spy!

"Shelly Smith" ... lol. All these fake Russian accounts.
Let's see how long Gershkovich is held compared to Griner.
I have a bad feeling.
Griner was held for 10 months, sadly I think Evan will be held for the maximum pre trial detention limit of 18 months, journalism is not a crime and I do hope he’s able to be exchanged and released. It’s incredibly traumatic I’m sure.
You can thank the Bush administration for normalizing enhanced interrogation techniques. This means he could be subject to extremes of heat and cold, waterboarding, sleep deprivation, stress positions, persistent loud music and light, humiliation, extended interrogations, prolonged confined spaces, etc.
Imagine being so left wing you think Russians learned torture in 2000 from a Texan. Put down the internet and read a book honey

@@manatee2500 My point being we no longer have the moral high ground. Policy decisions have consequences.
@@SoCalFreelance We know about the CIA interrogation techniques and all the associated dirt because our journalists reported about it AND JAGs and private attorneys and civil liberties groups (CCR) challenged the government in court and won some very high profile cases.
I will add that this was done long before Julian Assange entered any discussion. The work of those challenging the US government’s detention of the accused illegal enemy combatants began in 2001.
This sort of accountability doesn’t exist in Russia. This is hostage taking from a government that has criminalized dissent. There is no comparison.

why all of Europe should live in fear of the Kremlin regime, I believe that it is time to end this, because Ukraine is fighting not only for its independence but also to protect Europe from Putin, I hope that the European government will take more active measures against Russia
