This is tragic, i admire their strength in speaking with the media. People need to understand more clearly what life has been like in Russia now and through much of history.

    ✌🏻

heartbreaking when he said that in someway he failed as a father--by all accounts Evan was a smart, brilliant and passionate person who wrote in a fair and unbiased manner. It's the circumstances that was brought upon Evan to which everyone and the WSJ find themselves in this harrowing situation--not the fault of Evan or his family. Hope everyone stays strong

There is an entire culture of Russian resistance and Russian dissidence which, apparently, has completely gone over the head of Gershkovich and his parents. How awful and how sad for them to realize the realities of Russia only now. But where the family has failed, the Wall Street Journal senior staffers should have stepped in and educated Gershkovich on the names such as Bukovsky, Volpin, Galanskov, Sharansky. This case a tremendous failure of all who should and could have mentored him.
