  • After heating, soaking, not using an impact and holding the nut with a socket, both front cab mount bolts broke on this 2013 Ford F-350. Rather than remove everything from the front of the vehicle to access the broken bolt, I was able to sneak my cutting torch in and melt the down the broken bolt and slide it out of the body. Hopefully you find this helpful if you encounter the same problem!

Aluminum foil can be used as a quick heat shield. Just place a piece in front of the plastic part to protect it. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Those bolts have Loctite 242 on them so heat them up first - water should barely sizzle on top. You can put a 22mm socket, I think, on top of this mount through an access hole you'll see if you remove the wheel well liner, so you don't have to break the clip, if you do, use a stainless washer, no need to make your own. You hold the 22mm clip hard up top while your buddy slowly turns the hot bolt with breaker bar from the bottom, no problem. Done a lot of these... Oh, the others have carpet above them, so be careful of how hot you heat them, but those usually don't break and they come out easier, even when they do break.

So I’m screwed if I don’t have a torch? I’m trying like hell to push that nut away from the opening so I can put a new one in. I already flush cut the bolt with grinder and after banging on it with crowbar the nut is wedged pretty good. Guess I’ll just keep bangin lolol

Great video and detail! Did you replace the mounts with S&B ones ?

Yes, used the S&B silicone mounts. The ride is a little more stiff, but you can tell the mounts will last much longer!

Just take out the head lights just done my 2008 f250 . then bend a 7/8 wrench slid it in and if you still have problems put in small pry bar and get someone to hold the wrench and use a cheatet bar on rachet . too much heat will melt radiator
