Pauses for dramatic effect by drinking tea from a Bugmans mug - quality wholesomeness!!

Yea it would be hard for me to discern as I've seen genuine FW kits that are absolutely appalling quality lol
Speaking of the difference in colors I noticed some stark differences between the color of GW plastic kits over the years, I'm not sure if it's aging or a new recipe but most of my kits from around 2000-2006 are a very pale grey where everything today is a lot darker. I have multiple sprues for the Heavy Weapons kits that are all different shades of grey and I worry that if I list them for sale people might think they are fakes lol.

The grey plastic they use has definitely changed, I’m like you in that I’ve got unused sprues from various eras and the difference is quite stark. I’ve never seen it in forgeworld though but then again I don’t have any unpainted older forgeworld knocking around to compare.

On the coloration, possibly discoloured by mold release? I've a local player who buys a lot of recast, even bought a couple through him, the big difference i noted between fw and recast resin was the smell while sanding/filing aand the recast was generally higher quality resin to work with :/ gw's gotten lazy without serious competition and are paying the price for it all around, and gl sending a c&d to the china guys, big difference is shipping time, fully expect the chinese recast to take 4-6 months, but easily 1/4 or less the price, also found little difference in the mold lines/slippage and general detail.

1/4 of the price definitely seems compelling when you consider the quality issues that genuine forgeworld seems to consistently have, I think GW has a big challenge on its hands convincing people that forgeworld is worth what they are charging considering the competition.

Interestingly, I have made dozens of FW models over the years and noted many of them have had 2 different tones of grey colour in the same kit. I assumed this was different densities of resin. I have never acquired a recast but would assume such a model would be the same uniform colour grey regardless of the part.

Interesting, from memory my bigger forgeworld models have been fairly easy inform though it’s been a long time since I’ve had a Titan!

A Facebook seller. Not seen him sell any more since but he was selling 2 at the time.
