It never ceases to amaze me that despite officers stopping motorists or cyclists in good time for what ever reason, you still get the dickheads who pay no attention and have to move on causing possible injury to themselves and others.

Hmm, some outriders are still armed with the X26 Taser, interesting that they don't have the X2. It is larger and harder to carry around when you're on a bike I guess.
Not sure when this was filmed but SEG would not have any priority for a conversion course to the X2, they'd probably be waiting until last. Far more officers using their tasers without sidearm that need the X2 for a potentially life saving second shot.
I suspect the Glock they carry is a bit more effective than an X2 (whatever that is)

So they don't get killed. It's unlikely, but if the US President got stuck in a traffic jam and someone came along and shot him, it wouldn't be brilliant would it. The way most countries do it is to completely close the roads for hours in preparation for the convoy. At least British police are only closing the roads for a few minutes.

it is a privilege, dont get me wrong, but the escort and skipping traffic is not supposed to be a privilege in the first place, it's for their protection. because of all the protection theses "vips" have always had, we simply dont know or imagine what could happen without the escort or protection, but given their rank, what they represent, and all the threats, they are targets to be protected. and an escort needs to keep moving and never stop. it is exactly the same for dangerous inmates being transfered or driven to court.
Put them in the back of a white van and they wouldn't need protection. The best protection is stealth.

The problem is that the country is too socialist so we have great wealth distribution so our poor arne't really poor at all but it means our rich aren't really that rich either, so British companies can't afford to own themselves anymore and richer companies from less socialist countries are buying up everything that is quintessentially British.

They don't have sirens... they use whistles instead. Believe it or not, whistles are more effective because sirens are so common and many just ignore them.

The whistles are used instead of the standard siren. The idea is that many Londoners are desensitised to sirens and the whistle is more effective. I don’t know if whistles do work better or not but they still use it so i guess it must be

The whistles have proven much more reliable. People aren't inured of whistles, and the high pitch cuts through other noises. That distinct, unusual sound makes it perfect for catching attention and managing traffic. Most (? all ?) European EG's use whistles.

@@Diablo97810 Yes they might learn a thing or two from their Dutch colleagues, certainly from a masterclass of assisting ambulances from city centre to city centre. Brit cops spend their time escorting Granny Windsor or Charley boy and his paramour to the opera or their vast estates, when they are not doing that the other royal hangers-on and our appalling politicians demand attention. I suspect Brit cops are too arrogant to under take a practical training course from the Dutch Police, they are probably of the mindset that it should be the other way around. I presume the Dutch Police are busy at the moment.

The Dutch have authority and get an intersection cleared in no time for an ambulance to race through.
