maybe getting off the bike and walking up to them would have been the better option in this situation, but it's easy to say afterwards, watching a video ... A PA system would be perfect, telling them e.g "lane 1 keep moving, all others stop"
He needs retraining. This was clearly a colossal failure. I’ve seen many other vids before with these guys directing traffic the right way…and this was not it.
I would have got off the bike, spoke to each driver at the front of the lanes he wanted closed , then waved through the right lane , which is a bus lane in parts. Done this a few times as a motorcycle officer in the Met. Ged
Certainly not a Met officer. Never an easy role. I suspect there was a lack of training and the officer was not used to levels of traffic in a city environment. A shame as it shows the police in poor light.
It needed a properly trained traffic police officer in the road directing the traffic. It was impossible for this guy to have proper control sat on his bike waving his arms around uncontrolably and shouting through the visor on his helmet. As a motorist I would have been at a loss as to what he expected me to do.
He’s not SEG. Fact. Wrong bike, wrong livery on bike, no side arm, his bike has visible sirens the SEG white BMW do not. The officer deffo has to work on his communication skills. Nobody has a clue what he wants. All motorcycles in London need LOUD public address systems. London is a loud city. Nobody hears the whistles with the radio and air on inside a car. The SEG whistle idea is quaint but absurd in 2022
American drivers would have been afraid of the police and moved off the road completely! Conversely, the American police would have blocked the entire road so no one but the VIP would have been allowed!
In the UK sirens ad lights on dont means squat unless they are behind you and honking their horn. NOBODY pulls over. I am a cyclist and only when i pull over and stop do they follow my example. I stop for all lights and sirens if they are close and i cant see them. Not only is this the law but it might be your loved ones one day in an ambulance that needs to move fast. British drivers are the fucking worst i have seen so far and i have been to many different countries. Third world countries do nto count as they are just nuts.
I'd be like "Don't effing shout at me with your helmet on you prat, take it off if you're going to talk." I'd be the same as most of the traffic, you can't tell if you're meant to backwards, forwards or bloody sidways with these coppers.
One must ask whom was just so important that at one of the worst times traffic wise a route planner decided on that. Yes the police were sadly lacking but there were only minutes between the police trying to clear the way & these hyper important watever came through. It was a crazy scene
That Copper isn't the brightest spanner in the Toolbox. God only knows how he's allowed on traffic duty. He should have gotten off the bike and got closer to those he was directing.
I'd refuse to run a red light just to let some rich sob get through, they can stay stuck in traffic like the rest of us. The police work for the people not some rich guy.
usually you won't know what's coming up behind you until they do. What if it's an urgent organ transport or an oversize emergency vehicle like an airport crash tender, with the police blocking intersections, stopping traffic or direct traffic to move on at a red light well ahead of them getting there?
@@EnjoyFirefighting If that's the case, let all lanes go through normally, and install a system where the lights automatically go green. Much better than risking a ticket for running a red light.
@@nekotranslates "Much better than risking a ticket for running a red light." only in the UK lol ... those are issues you don't really face elsewhere. All countries and services handle it different; If sufficient, they might clear only one lane instead of all lanes, which might be difficult and not really solve the problem in dense traffic, e.g. when it's only a blood organ transport car going through. For such a unit one lane is completly sufficient. Of course you might see them clearing the entire road, but that's usually in cities with less traffic then. The Dutch are probably THE best at this game ... not the British, Americans, Germans or any other country; I'd say the Dutch are much better than the rest in that aspect
that motor bike copper at the start could make a lot more money by being a mime artist in Covent Garden than peeing around on a motor bike... excellent..
Get off your bike and speak to the drivers they have no idea what you want them to do. I don't know which Force this is but not very professional buddy! (Ex Met Special EScort Group)
Love the Bikes. Best job in the force. Perfectly executed, under extreme pressure also as the escort must never stop, a job very well done. Just a pity the impatient pricks with literally no where to go, had to make life difficult. Bike cops in situations like this DO record VRN’s and DO send out Notice of Intended Prosecutions also, so if anyone see’s a bike cop, stop and pay attention. Awesome clip.
I would normally side with the officer but in this case he was not giving clear instructions. The drivers can’t be expected to read his mind when he is waving his arms around like that. Get off the bike and tell them what to do within ear shot.
The U.K.'s SEG should take lessons from the PO-POs in the United States!!! Block ALL intersections until the VIP's entire entourage passes the intersection and continue with the "rolling" road blocks until the escort is COMPLETED!! And those POLice VEEhicles DO have sirens on them, don't they??? Forget the whistles and use SIRENS instead!! /SHEESH/
Even watching this from the comfort of my laptop I can't tell what this dude wanted. He's really got to reevaluate his communication strategy here...

You must. Be dumb like the drivers then. I totally understood
The 2nd hand embarrassment I felt for this so called police officer is of the charts. I don’t even blame the drivers. He’s clearly the problem here.

Exactly what I thought. He could of got off his bike because nobody could understand his hand instructions. All he did was to shout louder and louder.
lmao yeap!!🤣

This is what it's like to be around a narcissist, mixed signals every second that you now are in a state of utter confusion 247

Nearly every driver, pointed to themselves as if saying "Me?"
I was sent the link to this by a former SEG colleague, who headed it "Why on earth didn't he just get off the bike & direct the traffic".?

😂 you said what I felt! I would have gone off at the cop too
Definitely not SEG material
Struggle with heavy traffic during escort mission is always interested
Off bike to clarify instructions perhaps? Seen other SEG officers do it, plus French and US motorcycle cops do it. Still job got done.
bad leadership skills
He doesn't seem to be very good. No one knows who he is talking ( shouting) at.
Our police have lost the plot. Totally incompetent.
Embarrassingly poor conduct by the officer. Should have got off the bike.
In my workplace we’ve a chap whose nicknames ‘Bungalow’ there’s nothing upstairs!! Think you chappie need to practice your communication skills 🤔🤪

nice catch..btw did the drivers argue with the officer? seems like they irritated a bit...
21st Century's Emergency.
And that is exactly why the SEG changed their methods and now get off their bikes when they need to.
This traffic policeman is totally unprofessional......
Perhaps a pair of fluorescent yellow gloves would help
That was a bit chaotic
What a waste of public money
how did he expect a van to do a 180 degrees turn

Imagine paying the same road tax and being shouthed at by some twat on a bike because there is a rich person behind you wanting to get through
my god I WAS EVEN YELLING
jesus those drivers are dumb
VIP Should have taken the tube.
Tell them to catch a bus
What did police say? I cannot hear
what was the flag on the sign, chinese? 1:51
Good video 👍👍🇬🇧🐍

these guys arent SEG, they use white bikes

No Discipline Dog's
Standard of drivers nowadays - it’s all gone

Jeah lol like NYC placing cones in the street well ahead of an event 😅
Thats it tell everyone where the VIPs are. All the officer needed to do was dismount and it would have been much better for all
This isn't an SEG officer; it's not an SEG escort. And only a child would refer to PO-PO's. has your mummy left her computer unlocked ?
You really don’t get subtlety, do you.
Is it really that hard following a police officer's signalling? Guess so. Great video nonetheless, mate!
Funny moment"
That muppet reminds me of my morning visit to the toilet! Just can't control where it goes 😂😂
A bad day for this guy it seems in an usually a controlled manner
