      It was disrespectful and it is sad that the host country has this type of public. They has to know that it was a competition, so there was no reason to disrespect lavillenie in that way, when the only thing he was trying ti do was to defend his tittle. Just because Thiago was doing incredible that way there was no reason to do that to renauld. It was one of the worst parts of the games. Ps: I'm not French btw

    Braz Da Silva deserved the title, but I really like USA Sam Kendricks for his superb sportsmanship in applauding his two opponents who both finished above him. Can't say the same for the defending champion Renaud Lavillenie who was not as gracious in defeat and in fact appeared so sure and cocky of himself. As it ended, Braz Da Silva broke the Olympic record whilst Renaud couldn't even break his own personal best.

    • @elgordo1020

      @syllevineo 8 лет назад +99

      I don't understand how Renaud looked cocky. He holds the world record for this event. Obviously he was expecting to clinch the gold medal and by looking sad because he didn't get gold meant that he was cocky and so sure of himself? Dude come on. Imaging someone winning Usain Bolt, you're gonna tell me he is not gonna look upset? SMH.

      Eh I give them a break cos it's their home country. Koreans were very rude to other competitors and sent death threats to the Canadian who won bronze over the Korean in speed skating in the winter Olympics. I believe every country with a lot of national pride will do this.

    • @DakonBlackblade2
      @DakonBlackblade2 8 лет назад +72

      Probably to avoid the nonstop whinning from ppl who thinks that had any influence whatsoever on the result and that it wasn't the fact that Thiago jumped 6.03 and Lavillenie didn't that mattered. But having finished watching it, they didn't actualy cut it, the boos were very mild so in most transmitions they couldn't be heard realy, they did cut him giving the crowd the thumbs down tough.

      Because Brazilians have a mentality that is very much influenced by football (Soccer). They do not respect other athletes than their own which of course is totally against the olympic spirit

      majr72 I'm finally gonna be able to try pole vault! Which muscles are most important to have?

    • @majr72
      @majr72 7 лет назад +2

      Well you have to have pretty good upper strength and have pretty good speed as well. Most of all practice your form. Your core needs to be tight as well. I would hope that your school has practice poles. If they do practice your form as much as possible with those. It takes lots of mechanics to accomplish vaulting. Just don't give up. There are plenty of instructional videos on line to watch and help you. Once you get the hang of it it's a big rush to try and keep improving. I hope this helps. Just remember don't give up it will get frustrating at times. But it's real fun once it all comes together and you clear that first height. One thing to remember don't ever be afraid of it. Good luck and have fun with it.

      I've met people who know Renaud (the French vaulter,and the world record holder) and they all say that he's very humble and kind. In fact, every elite vaulter is like that. Pole vault has a different feel from the rest of track, and sports in general, since every good vaulter respects their competitors, and usually befriends them.

    • @zieglerjade9161
      @zieglerjade9161 7 лет назад +22

      ( I am French thus forgiveness beforehand for the faults;)
      Renaud Lavilleni is one of the biggest athletes whom I know. He deserves the respect as quite different sportsman of his level. He is very humble, contrary to what you seem to believe. Unfortunately, everybody has no same vision of the sport as me because we allow to whistle for athletes who wait only for a competition which is made in the respect. Openly, that demoralized me when I saw Renaud with with tears in the eyes on the podium. He was really hurt. Here is how to waste a so beautiful sporting moment.

    • @hotmodelinbikini
      @hotmodelinbikini 7 лет назад +12

      Renaud broke the 23 year world record at 6. 16 he had that awful expression only because he only got 1 shot and he ruined it for himself.
