Does this mean the Maestro is a part of the Toymaker’s legion? Because I can tell he’d have playmates who would enjoy his type of chaos.
I mean, he got the Master, so...
I heard somewhere else that Russel T Davies has indeed confirmed that Maestro is a part of the Toymaker's Legion
That’s my guess - “My legions are coming!”
I’d like to see the Toymaker again when this Doctor goes.
Maestro has the same style as the Toy maker music and play so could they be identical in some way
He said "That was the giggle". Interesting...
I was just about to say that… so excited
The doctor's gonna be fearing that arpeggio for the rest of his life
I'm pretty sure he said 'always a giggle'
It was "that" @@DJ_Maysonic
Explains 🥺
The Doctor isn’t easily rattled, but if he says hide, you hide!
Idk I feel like they made him too powerless and scared he's the doctor wheres the man who saves the world and then calls the aliens back for a scolding?
@@PandorasBoxButFullOfPoop The Atraxi were likely killable, subject to laws and capable of facing punishment.
With things like the Toymaker and the Maestro, what can he do? He's still mortal, even if he does have a few dozen extra lives. He can still pull out a few tricks and traps, but he's not going to fight the literal embodiments of music and play. Tell me, if The Doctor could so easily take down threats like Maestro (an omnipresent god), where's the tension when he faces something weaker? If you see him best gods with ease, how could he struggle with the Cybermen or the Autons?
@@PandorasBoxButFullOfPoop Watch the episode, and it’ll make sense. And there has been a few times during the Classic Era of Doctor Who when the Doctor had been truly terrified, and one of those times was during The Planet of the Spiders when the 3rd Doctor was confronting The Great One, a massive spider.
@DawnDianaDIYandStuff I've watched the whole show several times. Don't tell me how to watch one of my favorite shows. I came I saw it sucked, moving on
@@PandorasBoxButFullOfPoop Thank you and goodbye.
I’m thinking the arpeggio of ‘The Giggle’ might be a motif that we now have to listen out for in the future of RTD2 because that will probably be the indication of who’s in the Toymaker’s Legions!
I would love if we heard it at the end of each episode too, like as a reminder that the toymaker still has a powerful grasp on the world, and we can’t fight it but just accept it like with the goblins and now with maestro. i also love the playful aspect because the doctor is so serious, he never has fun and this new incarnation really encapsulates this.
Questions how many people played and teamed up with the Toymaker
that would be pretty genius.
"I can't fight this thing."
Tell me about it. You can even hit Jinkx with a car, and they'll just keep on going. (IYKYK) 🤣
Right in the middle of Amsterdam!
@@howchildish And then getting up and going, "That was a freebie."
lmao
Roxxxy? Alaska?
@@giggles7179 Nope. Rolaskatox didn't beat them, either. 😆
I watched this episode this morning, Jinkx was so much fun! Jinkx's unhinged nature really came through with Maestro. I feel like this season is going to be a fun one!!!
Yes, I love this direction!
Sure you do bot
Maestro seems like a pantomime villain and I feel like that's on purpose.
Oh definitely!
80s who vibes
I feel like she's so powerful that she enjoys acting as over the top as possible, as a way of unsettling her victims.
@@Creek932 yeah, kinda like the toymaker.
Yes! Making it clear that she’s in total control by treating it like a game, or a performance.
"You never hide." Ruby, have you been introduced to the 2nd doctor? This looks campy and over the top and I am here for all of it.
When they snuck through that catwalk in the goblin ship and watched them perform a song from up there, wasn't that... hiding?
Observing and waiting more like
@@RuptimusPrime being stealthy, more like
I hope you mean the actual 2nd Doctor (Patrick Troughton) and aren't referring to Ncuti Gatwa, the 15th Doctor, as the 2nd.
@@Deinobi That's just a fancy word for hiding
He doesn't hide. He "makes a strategic withdrawal"! (Pyramids of Mars)
I'm not gonna lie, this villain is tickling my desire to see more panto-vibe villains in media. This is like if Ursula from the Little Mermaid was a Doctor Who villain, I love it.
I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who got Ursula vibes from the Maestro.
Complex and subtle antagonists are enjoyable, but sometimes it's fun to get an unhinged, gloriously evil villain.
which tbh makes sense since Ursula from The Little Mermaid was based off a drag queen ^^
@@lostotter1956 Absolutely, I'm a big Divine fan so having a villain in Doctor Who hit that vibe is delicious. Jinkx Monsoon is wonderful.
The Toymaker’s legion
Aka: the camp brigade
imagine if the entire legion is just iconic queer people 😍
I love this. The fact he said hopelessly, "I can't fight this thing." That speaks volumes.
Especially with a music draining version of The Giggle involved. Or any version of it. Or just new unknowns.
The way Maestro bellows: “WHERE A-A-A-ARE YOU-U-U-U!? is timeless. 👍🏻
It was the "Music is........ MINEEEEE" for me.
Like water off a daleks back.
Oh my... This is such an underrated comment!
Toymakers legion confirmed! Interesting. Love how Wild Blue Yonder seems to be having a big impact despite being such a contained episode. Mavity. Superstition at the edge of the universe. Mrs Merridew. Exciting stuff!
And in this clip, a mention of the Giggle, possible only because the Doctor used that salt in Wild Blue Yonder.
You mean The Giggle, not wild blue yonder?
@@myvividmemories Yes but that was only possible because of the events in Wild Blue Yonder. As @FacePimpd said, it’s great to see how that episode continues to impact things.
@@myvividmemories Nah Wild Blue Yonder which is when all those things i referenced happened. The Giggle is a direct result of Wild Blue Yonder
If you want a real time wimey paradox. Wild Blue Yonder can only happen because of Wild Blue Yonder. Without The Doctor using the salt at the end of the universe, the Not-Things couldn't enter.
Jinx is having way too much fun with this 😂😂
Came here to say this. So glad to see her expanding!
She's clearly a friend or fellow species of the Toymaker.
What species is toymaker
@@hawkstringfellow a celestial
@@hawkstringfellow He’s an immortal being, possibly an Eternal like Zellin and Royka(?) from “Can You Hear Me?”.
@@hawkstringfellow Celestial and or Eternal. Immortal beings with reality warping powers that are more forces of concepts rather than living things
@@mpg272727they're great old ones like the great intelligence, eternals have no sense of identity
I love the very brief eye contact Maestro makes with the camera around 0:28 as if to be like "Yes, I can still see you."
"You never hide!"
You've been around for 2 episodes, wym?
That's what I was thinking 😂, like you've seen him go up against a fat goblin and a fairly small monster that eats babies lmao.
Off screen stories happen all the time (comics etc.) Who knows how long they have been travelling together already?
This clip shows the Doctor referencing The Giggle as if Ruby knows what that was, so we can assume that she also knows at least some of the Doctors past victories in protecting the earth. At a minimum, just defeating the Toymaker would inspire tremendous confidence in her that the Doctor can face and overcome anything.
@@hiddeheikoop Except the episode starts right after the events of the previous so..
It’s been 6/7 months as you’ll find out when you watch space babies
I felt like this was an episode where Mury Gold can show off.
I thought it was season 3 of Queer as Folk
Coming in perfectly in tune and completely unhinged. 😂
The giggle, music- is the arpeggio from the Toymaker going to be important again?
Really looking forward to this episode, it looks amazing!
Basically only when someone who emulates something like play and music, and can manipulate them, shows up. Does that make sense?
You know this creature is POWERFUL when even the Doctor is terrified! And Maestro is one of the Toymaker's legions, they are to music what the Toymaker is to games!
I had the briefest hope that the show would be good again. Then I saw whatever the hell this clip was.
The Doctor scared? Makes me even more excited for the Maestro! :o
This gives me the vibes of a new who episode with a campy classic who villain dropped into it and I am loving it
Maestro is the Toymakers legion confirmed ✅
IT LOOKS SO GOOD.
How?
The Toymaker and company are so fascinating, I’m so excited to see more!
Lol Jinx definitely pulls off the psycho villian with the look and costume...very well done❤❤
A villain that the doctor is a bit scared of, it doesn’t happen to often. Him saying “I can’t fight this thing” basically shows that he’s struggling.
The giggle was mentioned. Maestro is one of the toymaker’s legions I think. It’s the most popular theory. I think it stands true.
I guessed this months ago. She's a figure like the Toymaker, but instead of being bound by games, she's bound by music
"you never hide" it's your 3rd adventure ruby, how do you know 😂
If she knows about the Giggle, she knows at least about the Doctor defeating the Toymaker as well.
Bro, whoever played this villain in this episode hammed it up like there was no tomorrow. I love it.
That would be drag queen Jinx Monsoon, and yes, she always goes 110% and its glorious
the maestros performance HOLY MOTHER OF GOD
Best villainous since Missy.
I love Murray Gold's music here.
I wonder what doctor who fans think of this character, I personally am happy to see Jinkx get a role like this, reminds me of pantomimes.
If he turns out to be The Master will his TARDIS be disguised as a tent because of all the camp? 😄
They're not the Master
@@AmelityshTV
They? Sorry I only see one person!
@BanTheBots 1. They're an incomprehensibly powerful music based villain with abilities beyond oir comprehension. They, fits perfectly.
2. Shush, gender is relative
@@AmelityshTV3. ‘They’ has been used to refer to somebody when not using gender for years. ie) “I have a job interview tomorrow, meeting the manager, hope I make a good impression with them’ why is it suddenly not ok to do that
@@mrcritical6751 exactly
Maestro plus Maestro's facial expressions: two actors for the price of one!
Honestly, I didn't think Ruby had known the Doctor for long enough yet to assume that he "never hide"s ... maybe there's some novels and audios designed to fit between Space Babies and The Devil's Chord...
The Church on Ruby Road happens during December 24th, 2023. The Devil's Chord happens around June/July 2024. She's had half a year.
This was a fantastic ep and expansion of the Toymaker myth is, and Maestro was such a chilling character (even with the 4th wall breaking large ham tendencies)
Oh yes I am so much more afraid of you then the weeping angels. Get out of here
That was the Giggle????
That was the giggle
I didn't even register the Doctor saying it, it took me a 3rd watch haha So excited 👀
Thought it was s foreign Language
@@KroanC It was, indeed, The Giggle™
She's got be related in some way to The Toymaker
Turns out they're the Toymaker's child.
JINKX MONSOON!!!
Hocus Pocus?
I was more thinking Johnny Depp's Willy Wonka if he ate Sam Smith. . .
🤢
@@whateverwhatever4026why Johnny Depps Willy Wonka?
I feel this show isn’t particularly for me anymore (as it should be, since I am 41 and instinctively consider “Doctor Who” to mean “Sylvester McCoy”). I’m happy to sneak out of the party when nobody’s looking and drive off in my Edwardian roadster, but before I go I will say Ncuti Gatwa is an absolute charisma-volcano with brilliant comic timing and I laughed out loud at the non-diegetic music joke. Have fun with it, children. It’s yours now.
this was a great episode, but it feels like it got moved forward in the order, "you never hide", when in the last episode the first thing she did with him was run away from a monster.
Offscreen adventures happen all the time, look at the comics, novels and the Big Finish audiodrama
@@theunigamer194 yeah but they shouldn't happen between the second and third episodes from a.perspective of storytelling, you are still introducing the character to new viewers
@@alphacode5 Yeah, I feel like we should have gotten at least one episode to get Ruby warmed up to the Doctor's personality and his adventures. Her saying that when we've only seen both of them going in 2 adventures was a bit misplaced. Besides, the episode with the Bogeyman is literally proof that the Doctor runs away from things
In the 2005 reboot the Master was the greatest villain, I really hope in the 2024 reboot The Toymaker becomes the greatest villain
I just hope RuPaul isn't watching this series; next time he sees Jinx he will call her "THE QUEEN OF ALL QUEENS...THE CONDUCTOR FROM "CHICAGO !" IYKYK
This was like my favorite episode so far. Jinkx Monsoon absolutely nails this role as the Masestro, my favorite new villain.
LETS GOOOOOO!!!!!!! THIS IS SO EXCITING!!!!
Loved this episode
Looks like the drag version of the Music Meister
I watched it and it's kinda funny they put the Beatles but didn't use any Beatles music probably didn't wanna pay for the rights to use it as the Beatles have some of the most expensive music to play in movies
RTD said that they didn't have the budget to use Beatles music and so he wrote the plot around the fact that there would be no Beatles music, and honestly I think he pulled it off
Thats a scary ass villain
I just love the look they give after they hit the tone
its camp, and I LOVE IT
What does ‘That was the Giggle’ mean? Is it just a hint at the Giggle ep?
The doctor said my legions are coming just what the toy maker said
This has me so excited :)
This is going to be so ungodly awful I'm pumped!
What did he say at the beginning of the clip?
As Maestro was getting back into the piano she said this “the one that waits is almost here” that dialogue was From the ToyMaker did Maestro tease the return of the Toymaker right in front of are very own eyes 👀 also Maestro had a farther and that farther was the Toymaker it seems Maestro and The Toymaker were working together to create chaos across the universe the giggle
Would that be "the one who waits" which Toymaker mentioned?
No, they're the Toymaker's child and they do in fact refer to the One who Waits approaching during the ending.
They do make reference to an "Oldest One", which is apparently a he. Maybe the One Who Waits and the Oldest One are one and the same, given he's implied to be tied into Ruby Sunday's birth?
Does anyone else hear the Death Note tension theme?
I looove the doctors suit
That was The Giggle ?
Nope
@@crimecity Nope what? He clearly said "that was the giggle" at the start of the video.
@@wallacewallaby5782 oh my bad
Likely a friend of the toymaker or similar species
Maestro is sort of like the toy makers son
I love the idea of bringing in supernatural villains that the doctor doesn't know how to stop.
I swear these new enemies in this show make me learn new things about the universe it's extraordinary
How many times is it now that the Doctor says "I can't fight this thing!" to an enemy.
exactly 1
The Maestro was a full on panto villain
As someone who likes Singing, Dancing, and Musicals, I can't wait to see how this Season is going to go with the upcoming Musical episode, and also this Maestro character.
So we already had two musical segments in previous episodes now and you're saying there's another upcoming musical episode?
I can't wait 😁🤩😁🤩😁
SO EXCITED FOR THIS
Toymaker boss
I'm so glad i never saw this before the episode. What a spoiler that would have been.
same here! For this season I've decided to avoid the next time clips
Maestro literally means "Master".
Yeah in Italian it means Master
I feel every emotion. This. Looks. GREAT.
DIVINE!!!!!
😁 this was actually better than i thought it would be
hope more people realize this
Why is there a guy in drag chasing after one of the most powerful time lords
Russel T Davies really thinks he’s showing it to fans who rightfully call this out as bad, but the reality is Davies has thoroughly destroyed his legacy as a creative with this rot
Is there going to be anywhere to stream Doctor Who (2005) outside the UK/US? It was on Prime Video here in Canada, but seems to be leaving soon, and we only got Series 1-10.
It streams globally on Disney +. Hope this helps :)
@@DalekCaanOfSkaroNo, only the 60th Anniversary specials and Series 14. Classic Who and NuWho (Nine - Twelve) are on other streaming services.
@@notavailable2590 No, but then it doesn’t matter to those of us who are sensible and use physical media instead.
@@DrWhoFanJAssuming one can find them in their country. Not really a great business model for a company with a streaming service though, to not have their own content available.
I thought when they got the rights back from Crave, they’d just put all the non Disney financed stuff on Britbox, not licence it out to other services.
This looks like so much fun!! I cannot wait
I AM SO EXCITED
I love Maestro so far, such good line delivery
I thought that the maestro is on who waits and who is going be one who waits
