everything about maestro is brilliant chaotic and enthusiastic in every action especially how almost all their dialogue is spoken in a melodic fashion they're a perfect villain for gatwas doctor
Decades of healing with the Nobles gone in seconds hehe. Poor Doctor, he didn't really think he'd escaped from mental trauma just by spending some decades in retirement did he? As a writer myself I can surely say: we're not willing to let the characters we write get off that easy. They must suffer for the audience's amusement, and our own! Maestro can break the fourth wall, so they know this.

I thing the actor of maestro (Jinkx Monsoon) is the best person they could of chosen for this role! The outfit and makeup plus the facial expressions and singing gives this character a real zing in the show. Makes you feel gripped!!!
I'd never seen *Jinkx* *Monsoon* perform before, but wow!!! 💥 I hope to see more of 'Maestro' at some point in future episodes.
Jink monsoon will be playing maestro again cause in one of the trailers we see them on a wide green field or something meaning that they will be coming back in a later episode of Doctor who

I think they picked one of the best people to play the roll of Maestro. This performance was spectacular and I hope they appear at least one more time this season and aren't forgotten about to the show like the Toymaker was for so long (yes, I know the Toymaker was in multiple comics, casual watchers probably wouldn't know this). The episode before this one was kind of iffy with the writing, but I'll be willing to stick through. The useage of the callback to the Giggle was spectacular, absolutely used to strike fear in the hearts of the Doctor. I didn’t watch Jodie's season, I'm hoping that this one will keep my attention.
I understand the writing isn't for everyone but I would recommend giving Series 13 a try. If you like campy god-like characters that just freak the Doctor out, that season has some good scenes. It's a pretty short season so no harm in giving it a try.

There's been 6 months roughly. They mention it right before they go see destroyed London in June 2024.
This episode takes place 6 months after Christmas ;) So there is a gap in time between episodes 1 & 2!

@@Tyr_Of_Justice It seems to be that this episode was originally going to be later in the season, with 'Boom' being the original Episode 2, but this one was moved ahead because they wanted to introduce the series arc as soon as possible.

it seems to me the folks who didn't like it either think that the exaggerated performance of the Maestro was too cheesy, or are people who are having a fit about the Maestro having a LGBT actor and being called "they". i also liked it a lot! this episode was the first time i'd watched Doctor Who in a few years :)

Maestro had me mesmerized for the whole episode, what an awesome villain! If I were a cosplayer, I’d be feverishly working on all 3 our their outfits because they were absolutely gorgeous.
...if cosplaying is something you have an interest in why not start small and give it a go? I say this because as a total non cosplayer that would never even occur to me so the fact it does makes me think it could be worthwhile for you and want to encourage you to try it.

It was kinda cringe for me at the beginning but the performance grew on me. Good villain
Gonna be honest these first two episodes haven't been all that great. Been hard carried by the actually-nice performance of Ncuti and the main duo's chemistry, for kinda meh pacing and plot.

@@dbsnoxian7647 the villain is the concept of music. There's really no reason for them to have she/her or he/him pronouns, they technically don't have a gender, and neither does the Toymaker. Not everything needs to be male and female all the time. Especially something that can unravel the fabric of reality in such an effective way.
New fan of Doctor Who because of this performance by Jinkx !!! Honestly really captured the infinite being consuming music so well… even the like about being (redacted for spoilers) you can imagine how awful their existence was before release and how they aren’t afraid of doing the same in their musical way

@@mickram23 for this season my take is every other episode is good/plot important. So I enjoy the show but I do think if this pattern continues it’s good! And seeing earlier seasons and scenes I think they’re doing a good job keeping this strange creeping omninous feeling that Maestro capitalizes on in this scene

@@sirjedisentinel The best episode of the era was Episode 3 from Moffat. The only improvement RTD has had is in terms of budget. Apart from that, he's still the goofball he was. He's graduated from farting aliens to farting space ships as we saw in Episode 1.

@@aligmal5031 Statistically, the show has generally maintained the same viewership rankings (i.e. amount of viewers compared to other shows during the week) from Series 1 all the way to Series 13. If you actually pay attention to viewership numbers, you would know that viewership in general has fallen as streaming services have become more prominent.
The viewership has fallen drastically with this new season, but that's almost certainly because they launch the episodes on Iplayer the night before they air on BBC One, so fans of the show aren't watching live anymore. If you look at the viewers from episode 1 and compare them to episode 2, you'd even notice a pretty impressive viewer retention.
It's as simple as that. It's not some woke conspiracy or whatever you think it is.
