hello! do you have any thoughts on those inch wide sliced beef marrow bones as a recreational treat? especially if taken away when all the marrow is eaten? love your videos... thanks!
I always enjoy your videos. My two cats main diet is raw ground beef and boiled chicken thighs. They won’t eat raw chicken. Once a week they get a tin of sardines or poached salmon. The sardines are in water, no salt added. Finding other organs, or raw meaty bones, is not easy, so I use a supplement or wet cat food, that is low in calcium and phosphorus as a supplement. I am thinking of trying whole prey. There are two, day old quail chicks in my freezer. But each time I think about thawing and feeding them to my cats, I “chicken” out. LOL Happy Purrsday Eve!
If there is salt added as an ingredient to let’s say a can of sardines than could rinsing out the sardines with some water help get rid of the excess salt or would that do very little to get rid of the added salt? I ask because I like to give my cats some sardines as a snack maybe once or twice a week but the cans I get have salt added as an ingredient and the ones that at least don’t have salt as an ingredient are a more than a dollar more expensive.
Hello Paws of Prey! I had a question about FIV my cat has it and I was told that raw food wasn’t safe. But I want to feed healthy food, so what should I do?
2 questions 1. What happens if my cat does not finish her plate of raw food, should I immediately put it back into the fridge? 2. Im currently living in Spain and I would like to get some organ meat from the local butcher shops, is it common practice for the butchers to also freeze the meat before giving it to us? Or should I also freeze that meat in the freezer for 3 weeks? thanks!!!
I was wondering about uneaten food too. I just got two kittens, one eats like a vacuum cleaner. Second one always leaves some food behind, but asked for a food an hour later. I put the leftover in the fridge immediately if am am home and feed it to him later. I guess in the perfect world I should break the daily amount into more meals, but during work week it takes the whole family to do 4 feedings per day. I would love to know what others do with unfinished food.
What are some online stores? I know some sites freeze them & send them to you. I forgot the site they sell all kinds of raw meat, fish as well & organs for dogs.
Just so Im crystal clear. Is it ok to include organ meats with a meal prep grind? Im gonna get chick quarters from the store. I want to add chicken liver and beef kidney if they have it. Prep that for 2 weeks out. Im just concerned about cross contamination. Im not a professional but I have near impeccable food handling practices. If there is no inherent risk of mixing these together into a grind and freezing them for raw feed later, not much more risk will come from my handling amd it should be ok.
Yes, you can very definitely grind all that together and then put it in daily containers. The only thing I keep separate when I grind is fish. I keep that in a separate container and feed the day of. Only because fish has something in it, can’t remember what it’s called, that can cause issues if frozen together with other types of meat. So keep the fish separate other than that everything can go together. Meat, bone, organs, and even the veggies. If you feed veggies.
@nogames8982 thank you. Im actually looking into a service. I feel like itll save a lot of time. No special shopping just meal prep. I can spend the extra time with pets cuddles and getting bit :)

CASI is just well established. I'm actually not even sure what their course teaches - how to raw feed or is it an actual nutrition course? Regardless, what taught me the most wasn't courses, it was experience and personal research! The text CASI follows is a great book though. Applied Veterinary Clinical Nutrition is also great.
Can you tell me which is the best dog supplement? Is dasuquin the best supplement for dogs or is it another fake garbage like the purina pro plan? I know chicken feet etc are good for raw, but I’m looking for supplements. Please let me know.
@PawsofPrey okay thanks so much, I will make a note for myself as a future reference. Also I heard salmon can't be used as a base, but can it be used as half the base? Like half turkey half salmon, spread out through the week?
@@seriahjeon9315 I would advise against it. It's lower in certain vitamin and minerals that aa mammal or bird would provide, and very high in omega-3s and vitamin D. This is why I mainly use it just as a booster!
I think cooked is fine but I'd rather not feed boar bc they eat such a variety of food in the wild and might eat something toxic plus they are omnivores, pasture raised pork is the option I go for.
Eventually I need to just order a bag of frozen whole sardines for the cats. I'm grateful that tinned sardines run cheap. It's currently more of a 'treat' for them but once finances are a little more secure it will become more of a staple. We're still figuring out which proteins they prefer. Currently I think we're at least at 4 with Chicken, Turkey, Pork and Duck. . .we're trying Rabbit today and it seems to be acceptable to the fussbuckets with some coaxing. Now we just have to figure out what to do with the refused Beef, Freshwater Herring, and Mutton. . .hopefully they'll accept 5-10 grams snuck into their meals until its gone at least.
If they like sardines, you could try putting little pieces in the sardine tins with the juice and fish, so the disliked meat smells like sardine. You could also try chopping them up really fine or grinding and mixing with a meat that's liked.
I am really enjoying your new videos. Thank you.
Love the new video.

Beef bones can be a great recreational treat! Just be sure to monitor at all times and get your dog's attention with something else before removing it

I feed Viva Raw right now, but when i hopefully have a homestead, its hand processed raw all the way!
Is raw caviar contents thiaminase?
Not that I'm aware of! Just be sure the fish eggs you're feeding aren't seasoned in any way
@PawsofPrey thank you!
So even though chicken drumsticks are weight-bearing they are safe to feed? I have a 60 lbs shepsky who does really well with other bones!
For bigger medium breeds, large breeds, and giant breeds, weight bearing bones of birds and small mammals are fine to feed, yes!

Can I cook my dogs salmon then store it in the freezer for my dogs individual meals?

Hi there! I have a pomeranian with no teeth. What do you suggest as to how to prepare the food? ie/ ground up? What about bones?

What about if the wild boar meat is cooked is safe to feed?
Yes, cooking kills the virus
