@@Deelitee I did not want to put him through surgery as he is around 15 years old we rescued him and don’t know his exact age but he can’t be any younger than 14 and 3 months. He’s about 35 pounds so it helps that he’s not a huge dog. We have used red light therapy, a brace, Novox In beginning for pain but then Dr Jones Ultimate Pet powder can’t think of exact name but it’s the one with turmeric and glucosamine. We also feed him fresh food from Ollie. He’s doing remarkably well. Thanks for asking. 🤍

    Hello everyone!
If your dog won't eat banana, here's a sure way. Try chewing it up for them first, and drop in the palm of your hand - or put a dab of natural peanut butter on it. I eat a banana every morning with my 12 year old chihuahua sitting right beside me😋
She will eat anything if she sees me eating it.
Finicky dogs always want what you are eating right? I mix teaspoon of olive oil with tablespoon of smashed black beans she goes berserk. I've never owned a finicky dog🌞🐾
Thank you Dr Jones for being a positive light! 💛

Coconut oil has so many benefits. Im a trucker and my wife sent my dog with me in the road full-time. Before he came on the road with me his breath smelled so bad it smelled like a rotten corpse. I tried everything from dental mouth washes to supllements and nothing worked. Started giving him coconut oil and it disappeared in days and breath returned to normal. Thag tells me it was alot of bad gut bacteria causing the horrible breath and the antibacterial qualities of coconut oil got rid of it.

THANK YOU! Decades of having pups and two elderly now and i am elderly now too i have learned so much and your channel confirms my experience with human health and pup health and/or i learn new things. I am confused cause i keep reading dogs can’t digest veggies though some say fermented or cooked. My one pup likes raw kale but my other one drools afterwards and has more sensitive digestion. One pup handles tumeric but the sensitive tummy guy get diarrhea h bad…be sure to try it when you have access to place for them go to bathroom as once IT happened in car..not run. Yes i give eggs. Is Also found out banana a good anti acid for my elder guy who sometimes at night when empty stomach i keep a banana on headboard and give him a little bite and he goes back to sleep stomach stops grumbling. My pups love Kale! They like Dino kale that just so happens to have the least oxylic acid.

I make my senior spaniel Samwise, a homemade chicken bone broth with fresh lions mane mushroom from my local co-op supermarket. I get the frozen chicken back and tear up the lions mane and make us both lovely chicken broth. A couple of drops of lemon juice to get more collagen out , black pepper to for the biopepperdine, and pup safe veggies like carrots and celery. Pro tip make it a proper stock pot on the stove, most crock pots are full of toxins, cook for three hours. You can make a whole pot worth of broth for what you can buy a large packet of Open Farm bone broth. Also I give him a pup sized dose of Boswellia from Himalayan herb companies done wonders for his stiffness he is back to zoom. All part of the max zoom protocol.

Hi Doc. Enjoy your videos as I am a “human” doctor of IM and many of us are becoming more aware and educating ourselves in Functional Medicine. I was interested in the sardine treat and was wondering if you had read the paper on the newly (well, 2012 I think) discovered mammalian essential fatty acid “C15”. Found incidentally while studying the unsual longevity of a group of naval dolphins. I am likely later to the party as this discovery has taken a tick longer to seep into the human side. C15, found in skins and heads of whole fishes is fascinating and may be responsible for some of the health improvements seen with sardine supplementation even more than Omega-3 benefit? Exciting thought.

My Husky hasn’t shown any signs of eye, hearing or cognitive decline which is such a blessing but I want her to be as healthy & pain free for as long as she’s with us!! I’ve tried everything with my Mastador’s skin issues like the bee propilos, coconut oil, baths with homemade all natural shampoo & she still gets sores, itches really bad & bad flaky skin!! I’ve tried different foods for 30-60 days at a time but that hasn’t worked.

He has arthritis, blindness, deafness, and cognitive disfunction. Saw massive improvements 4 years ago, and I attribute those ingredients to his still having mobility and a happy life. His tail still wags on a daily basis. Be sure to find a source of clean organic ingredients though. Moringa especially is notorious for being contaminated with heavy metals.

✨Dr . Jones , I am poaching eggs for my 12 year old Mastiff and myself right now 😁
I have been giving my boy my homemade soups . We are both seniors and share the same complaints we live in the middle of the Great Lakes where it is very cold and damp in winter . That catches up with age , so we stay active , he gets me out that’s good for both of us and he’s running and fetching his rope several hours every day .
I am feeding him a kibble made from insect protein it seems to be keeping him active , no itching or dandruff and his ears were nice and clear that was until I mix in a new food . At least I can see the difference soon enough , plus I feed him the same foods I make for myself naturally.
We both love soup and I figure a big pot will last several days . He just digs right in.
I find making a beef bone broth soup or a poultry stock with some lean meat , mixed vegetables, carrots , garlic , onions , finely chopped kale and parsley, a can of mixed beans that can be used to substitute meat as a added protein and for texture . I add some good spices like turmeric , and a “little” black pepper or a pinch of cayenne because it activates the turmeric.
I Use salt very sparingly .
Not to spicy remember for people deciding to cook food that’s good for both you and your dog !
I also remember that herbs like oregano and rosemary are extremely beneficial too!
Senior dogs really need these wonderful nutrients and the TLC just the same as us. ☺️ It’s the best delivery system for the bodies absorption , utilizing the nutrients where they are needed 😉👍
If I don’t have beans I substitute with a healthy noodle , I just found a 100% Organic Buckwheat noodle so that may go into this soup recipe that just keeps on giving. 🙏🏼
I am giving my dog castor oil treatments on his callouses , lumps and bumps . I am using castor oil and mixing in CBD oil and alternating the application castor oil treatments with a single drop of oregano oil mixed into the carrier oil coconut oil . It works well too , but he licks it off faster than it’s going on him, so that’s not doing any good 🤷‍♀️.
I found he doesn’t particularly like the taste of castor oil so I switched them .
He has a small skin tag on his elbow so I hope to see it shrink.
PS . He has Coconut oil on his dog cookie in the morning and at night and a little cheese before bed . Good for his dental hygiene. Cannabis oil for his pain relief . Turmeric supplements and extra essential oils for maintenance , apples with the peals and a sprinkle of cinnamon . We eat seeds and nuts they are a really healthy treat too.
We are doing well and enjoying cooking this lovely soup for our health . I am so Thankfull for what your sharing ❤️on your channel and I am sharing your videos with my family and friends.
    Thank you Doc. 🌳🐕‍🦺😊🕊️✨

We just use a basic food processor to blend the kale, carrots, & cooked ground turkey or steak... sometimes they have an egg & the shell (inner membrane & shell are highly beneficial).
My dogs are ecstatic about it & I feel far better than I do trusting even high grade kibble companies.

He used to get bad reverse sneezing, but after taking quercetin for the past year or so, that has thankfully stopped 🙏

Thankfully bananas and coconuts are so cheap here, but kale is non existent, but I have other green leaf options. I've followed your diet tips for ages now, with the Turmeric, garlic, onoins, and I have seen so many amazing results! Thanks again Doc. God Bless and lots of love to Tula

Would be nice if you did a video for us dog parents with small and extra small dogs.(10 pounds and under) My dog is 4 pounds and it would be nice to know the measurements for her and what things to look out for her as a 16 year old senior. She is still walking around, but sleeps Alot. The Veterinarians never give you any information. It's sad. 😢

    • @rockreader4298

Mugly, my niece had an eighteen-year-old chihuahua that had seizures, and a local natural vet suggested she give her dog a dab of honey. She bought the little straws of honey from the health food store and would squirt about 1/4 tsp. of honey in her little dog's mouth, at first signs of a seizure. It amazingly and rapidly stopped the seizures, every time. : )

My dogs really like eggs and sardines, but I can't imagine either one (or past dogs we've owned) chowing down on bananas! When I look up potassium content online, I find that spinach, potatoes and lentils have more potassium (spinach is really high) per gram and also in the average portion. Sweet potato is a tiny bit below bananas in potassium content, but always recommended and most dogs eat it readily. I would think that the average dog would be more likely to go for these alternatives to bananas.

I’ve treated him over the years naturally, in the past test I’ve been more pro active with his health. I’ve taken your supplement suggestions and I look forward to seeing what happens when I add your food suggestions to his diet. He’s been on a carnivore diet with me, but I’ve decided that there are nutrients he needs in foods other than meat! I know he’s going to respond well to this new diet adjustments. Re adding extra potassium to an aging pup's diet: Ounce per ounce, beef has more potassium than bananas, without the fructose that worsens diabetes or cataracts.
3 oz of beef has 234 mg, while 3 oz of banana has 211 mg... plus, beef has more overall nutrition such as protein, minerals and vitamins. Yet somehow, bananas are always pushed as being an excellent source of potassium, even for diabetics, when beef is a superior source of nutrition.
I learned this little known potassium fact 20 years ago when I was diagnosed with diabetes, but rather than taking the insulin and Metformin my doctor prescribed, I chose to manage my disease with a very low carb diet instead.
    Something to consider...

Some of the behavioral changes are probably a consequence of reduced ability to be aware of their surroundings. It would be normal to be more anxious if you're uncertain of what's going on around you. I think the deeper sleep also comes from this, because they're not hearing things that might otherwise prevent them from sleeping so deeply.
