- i feel like i did somewhat alright on this one, could be better but i've got no clue on what to add
music and art is HEAVILY inspired by Roasted's threat themes, very sorry if it seems like i'm copying them

If Spearmaster had to manually go back to SRS in the campaign, then I would've wanted to hear this while climbing up the Leg. good job
Not gonna lie. If I had to manually go back to Suns after delivering Moon's message, I would certainly kill myself. I was fed up with having to carry that pearl through the precipice with only one freaking hand to defend myself and an abusive spawn of king vultures and cyan lizards! Not saying it wouldn't be cool though

I’ve always wanted to make a mod where you go back to SRS as the Spearmaster!! Haven’t had time because of school, but I drew out a full map with different regions and everything

Sadly, according to lore to get to SRS you would need to swim through a sea of dirt that is between iterators and His facility would need to be like the whole game world surface

Interesting thought - I've never thought of SRS possibly using spearmaster as a defense against intruders.

Spearmaster is an adaptive, swift, intelligent multipurpose organism, and most importantly, it is a manufacturable unit, that has definitive and highly modern blueprints of its body, the latest model of iterator-made purposed organism production, it would make sense if Seven Red Suns has fabricated multiple of them working for him

With the way the pearl seemed to be *wired in* to Spearmaster, ripping it out may have been the intended method
@@wolfy-woo it wasnt! in SM's campaign you can find dialogues between SRS and NSH, and SRS mentions something about how the last time he sent a messenger to 5P, 5P was extremely careful about retrieving the data pearl.

For some reason, the fact that the tempo of this track is 4/4 almost makes it feel *more* jarring compared to the 5/8 tracks in Rain World.
Like.. the kind of jarring where you finally see the rage of someone who usually doesn't get angry. The tranquil fury of a nice man.

i think i'll wait a while before making another iterator theme, i didn't expect the song to get this popular and i'm slightly worried i won't live up to everyone's expectations next time. will try doing it at some point though! :)

@@zar-xen Well i bet at some point all Iterators experience Superstructure malfunctions. Pebbles with Rot, Moon with lack of water, Swords with overall poor structural integrity, and apparently Suns with blackouts.

Nah he is in a mod that will release in about a year or two. I'd call it an OC but that word to me equates to less of impact then what is actually in-game, so I refer to him as part of mod instead of JUST and OC. @@Draconicfish2679

Fanmade songs can be hit and miss, but this is actually pretty decent!! One tip- this sounds like it’s in pretty standard 4/4, while Rain World threat themes are generally in 5/8 and subconsciously train you to associate that pattern with danger!

imagine being in sun's superstructure and spearmaster shows up trying to kill you
augh this is so cool. i love how bassy and deep it is, and especially with the bg art, it gives the impression that srs's can is very dark/blacked out. im imagining running away from mole lizards/spiders and trying to balance lanterns and spears while ascending his can. i can totally see myself in a quiet moment and hearing this start to play, and a miros vulture showing up out of nowhere. i really love the sharp taps in the background too, like electrical zaps- it really makes the song feel so much more mechanic.

I audibly gasped when I saw this in my recommended. this is legit amazing. Not only does my favourite Iterator get more attention, they get amazing threat music. I love this so damn much. Wish we had more of SRS..

maybe, i couldn't really save the project due to free trial limitations but i could try doing a separate extended version if i ever remake this :)

that arp has such good melodical progression i swear it's the musical form of addictive substances or something
in my opinion the tempo really helps it, unlike other people i enjoy the slower than average bpm.
it fits for a kind of being, that in the words of pebbles, is "godlike in comparison"

This is great! I would imagine it would fit quite nicely in the OST. Its eerie, not quite as eerie as Five Pebbles, but more than Looks To The Moon’s threat music.

And then you just see SRS’s puppet jump through an access shaft, make eye contact with your own puppet, and then proceed to rip it to shreds
at 1.5x speed, this really sounds like threat music from the game.
I'm curious what dangers would be present to trigger the threat music in SRS. Perhaps he's producing dangerous purposed organisms as a hobby and has them in his can? Or perhaps one layer would turn on if any zap coils are onscreen.

i keep going back to this song because i really want to make srs and the entire path towards them- but i wanna add new creatures and stuff so i always go back to here when thinking about stuff to add or change
still gotta figure out the rw editor though but i really want to commit hard to the idea of making an srs mod and finding this coupled with spearmaster being my favorite slugcat has really spurred me onto looking into modding rw to make srs an actual region

Oooh, i love how metallic and industrial this sounds!! The electric "zappy" tones in the background evoke the image of a Tesla coil in my mind, which is so fun. The layer that comes in at 1:35 (idk the name for the "instrument" lol) was really nice as well, adds a good sense of urgency over the lingering dread in the background with those heavier beats. My only potential critique would be it feels a bit too... Sedated? (I think thats the word im looking for.) The game's threat themes feel a bit more "punchy", if that makes sense. (A music expert, i am not, LMAO)
Speeding the video up 1.25x honestly solved that for me tho, and even without the alteration it's a very enjoyable song! It personifies the anxiety and dread i imagine SRS feels over this whole situation with Moon and Pebbles. Definitely a favorite out of the RW fan songs I've heard ^^

I feel like this song would fit the exterior of one of my iterator OC's (named Six Dancing Stones, or SDS) pretty well.
SDS is in not the best shape, due to being built right next to a volcano, which, dormant when they were built, has now became very active (post mass-ascension), and their structure is suffering from the heat and from some debris thrown out by volcanic explosions that hit their structure. Basically, the region would be very volcanic, somewhat falling apart from debris thrown out by the volcanic explosions, and very, very dangerous.
I just feel like this theme would fit a volcanic region very well, which SDS's exterior is both an iterator, which this song was made for, and a volcanic region.

oh hey, looks like we got the same idea! i've just made a threat theme for a srs custom region yesterday and just found this! it's the latest video on my channel if you want to listen.
I love it! Sounds far more faithful to the game's music style than what I have.

The only thing that Spearmaster's campaign disappointed me with was the direct skip from Sky Islands to SRS without actually making the journey through to and into his can.

can't really think of any specific instruments since i'm fairly new to making threat themes, but perhaps you could try synth-based ones for the bass and/or arps? i recommend using instruments that seem more "otherworldly" kinda like what you hear in the superstructure and LTTM threat themes :)
(although i think most of this is irrelevant if you're planning on giving it a non-serious feel, lol)

like fr i've made 4-5 attempts at a threat theme and only 1 kind of sounds like a threat theme even though it's just all percussion layers. maybe my problem is making the music before anything? idk i've noticed the music i've made with theming and reason seems to sound better than the music/unformatted loops made on a whim (most of those are the threat themes i've tried to make) because an instrument sounded good
edit: all that see this in the future don't make the same mistakes i did, just tried making music with a directed theme and some workarounds to features not in garageband and it sounds so much better i cannot even explain it

yeah, i see what you mean. i tried giving it a tempo similar to what the superstructure threat theme has, but listening again it's a little too slow. doesn't really fit either, given that most of the instruments dont feel heavy nor have much of a punch to them. also thank you!
