definitely give this a watch it’s a really brilliant pixel animation! And of course, the inspiration for this animation too.

I wanted to make something I could include all the scugs in and some other creatures too.
Along with the original video I took inspiration/ referenced various things as well as asking in my community tab for suggestions, so I wanted to share them here.

I had to watch this like 7 times over just to see every slugcat’s unique animations for each segment. Also, the fact none of the top comments are mentioning how adorable Hunter and Arti’s little dance was is a CRIME??

I had to watch it many times over in slo-mo just to see every detail hahah
The accuracy on each slugcat’s personality is crazy. Survivor doesn’t do anything special as if simply trying ti get through unnoticed which makes sense, and while not as expressive as monk they also show a but of style. Monk is just having a good time with this, hunter is simple but effective in their movements, arti seems inpatient and just wants to kill more scavs, in which she achieves. Saint is. Well, Doing saint things. Spearmaster Does what they do best in showing off their spear wielding capabilities, and also doing a flip because why not, Riv seems to just want to make this more entertaining for themselves in classic adhd fashion. Gourmand fails to keep up with the other slugcats for a bit before grabbing a snack for the extra energy boost.
Did I really need to over analyze this cool lil scug animation? no. But I d i d.
Oh yeah also inv. Their just suffering in rejection. In very classic inv fashion

Also, Hunter moves in for a hug/kiss on Artifacer and Arti just DEFLECTS the scug.

i think survivor does nothing much because he's more of a blank slate type of character. he acts like an actual being trying to survive due to how he doesn't have any special quirks that define his character. as you said, the way they are depicted in the animation is extremely realistic since it's (mostly) up to your interpretation on how he acts. i really appreciate how survivor is represented here because i don't know if the community has reached an overall consensus on the personality of survivor or it's up to "go wild with it" since i've seen survivor in animations as a scavenger (no not those ones) or someone who acts similarly to monk. they used minimal movements but also gave him some bit of personality to let it be your choice on how he acts since it swaps between the two. (walking looks like sneaking and the poses give him flavor other than just being entirely basic) the animator really did a great job here. sorry about the rant, i love the survivor as a character both because of how i see him depicted and because he is just frankly adorable.
@@Starlitsoul0359 Very much looks like Hunter moves in for the kiss, and Arti is like 'Let's tango, we gotta move the line only pauses for half a second.' aaand twirls Hunter back around.
You’ve got NO idea how many times I had to rewatch, and rewind this entire video to notice EVERY DETAIL put into this animation. There’s just SO. MUCH. DANG. PERSONALITY, all crunched into 48 seconds!
I love every part of this animation, from Inv just having a singular cameo as a corpse in a lizard’s mouth, to Saint being dragged around by dev tools, and Gourmand getting tired, but later coming back with food!
I had to do the same but didn't regret it.

same i actually slowed it down to 0.25 and replayed when my eye didnt catch something (side note if you slow it down to that speed it sounds like an ominous dubstep)

I love how Inv is just being eaten by a Train Lizard at the beginning. You can even see the Egg he spawns with at the beginning of every cycle.
After finding out he exists I knew I had to add him to this one :] although When I played him I immediately exploded myself lol

spearmaster is my favorite and you portrayed them perfectly! the little spear twirl is my favorite part, i love how they tuck the other hand behind their back and close their eyes. idk how to describe it but it just fits idk. love this animation so much!

As someone who barely even knows any of these characters, you did an incredible job of showing off each character's gimmicks, quirks, abilities, playstyle, etc. The animation is also very fluid and has a lot of rewatchability. There's so many small details as well that I love too!

I love the slugcats differemt reactions to Arti killing the scav: Gourmad looking entertained and eating a batfly, Rivulet getting up like "arti wtf man" and Saint sorta just being like "aw shucks he died😅"

Unless it's your headcannon then I have no say in the matter.
@@Chris.530 Canonically none of the scugs have genders. In the dev commentary one of them called her motherly or something similar, I believe that's what people take as a confirmation. Although Gourmand, Survivor, Monk and Hunter can all get the mother passage. So I think its up to personal head cannons but the most accurate would probably be sexless for all of them :]

You can see the pain and horror in Saint's eyes in that singular frame with the dev tools... Poor Saint...

THE GREAT CYCLE
I really like all of the small details put into Artificer's little murder with the scab.
The scab being terrified of Artificer as she runs up to it, and crying before she smashes it.
Survivor, Monk, and Spearmaster are horrified of what they're seeing.
Hunter is smug like, "yeah, that's my Artificer!"
Saint is occupied with hanging on to its tongue.
Rivulet is struggling to see it (or confused, dunno).
And Gourmand is just eating without a care in the world XD.
Ayy it's so cool to see someone notice all the other characters reactions, especially the scav I didn't think anyone would comment on that thank you!

And yeah, you did a really good job, with many interactions and actions that both make sense for the lore and are hilarious!

I cant help but start at the front of the line, cover up the rest with my hand and as the video loops i reveal a slugcat behind everytime, to make it look like they keep picking up friends along the way

For a strange reason, RUclips recommended videos related to these characters, I don't know the game, much less what they are, and much less what it's about, however they hypnotize me quite a bit and make me feel happy.
Well that's the highest complement I can get ^^
I do find it funny that enot just attacked by a train lizard because that's one of the more memorable encounter is because that's one of the more memorable Encounters in his campaign and certainly the most unexpected

Holy smokes that’s a LOT of small details! I love animations that have a bunch of different moving parts and the song is so FUNKY!!! Also I caught a lil spooky dance in there by monk heck yeah and the dev tools lmaooo they’re all so so expressive I love this

So, by what we can see here:
Survivor is quite fiesty.
Monk must be protected at all cost.
Hunter is good at what he's doing and clearly shows it. He also seems to have a thing for Arti but is still wary of her.
Artificer is unable to feel happiness apart from two ways, killing scavs and being with Hunter.
Saint is much goofier than we think.
Spearmaster is a professional but doesn't mind the public.
Rivulet's head is empty. No thoughts.
Gourmant is enjoying life. We should be more like Gourmant.
Inv is... somewhere... I don't know but he must be having fun too. **muffled screaming in the distance**
PS: Also, I would love a singular version for each character. It's awesome.
i love when arti fucking KILLS the scav, everyone else is like 'oh god!' and then gourmand is just like, 'ooh' and eats his food like he's eating popcorn watching a movie

Haha thank you, I have mini head canons for each of the slugs which helps me characterize them, mostly based on their abilities and actions in cutscenes :]

I must say, the animation captivates the music well and the music tandems the animation well too. Your animation was also the reason I discovered the song and also the actual gameplay of where it comes from and man this is too good.
