I lost the external hard drive it was on for a while and gave up on the idea for it as I did not want to endure that ever again let alone play skate 3 for at least a month or two. I recently found the external hard drive the 261 GB of footage it was on and was thinking of starting to edit it again, and then I see this video. When I was researching this topic back when I first recorded it I couldn't find any other videos on it but major props to you for doing this because It was extremely difficult. Jumping over that Pluto thing is easily the worst challenge in the game, and I was even questioning whether or not it was even possible while doing it. I could only find one video of someone claiming to have done it on hardcore but they did not show the difficulty anywhere in the video if I am correct. The only thing different from my footage that I can think of from yours would be that I did it in basically one sitting and timed the entire thing. As much as I would want to edit it all together I'm not sure if I will anymore since you did a great job with this and my idea for the video was going to be to say that I was the first documented person to do this. I remember trying the game over on hardcore after playing Skater XL a bit and struggled with the grind tutorial too for a little haha. It’s a lot more challenging lining yourself up with the rail but I love the fact it doesn’t automatically grind so you can manual where you want to
I remember watching Vanoss' Skare 3 videos and that made me enthusiastic enough to buy a skateboard, that skateboard is now 6 years old and is just sitting in my grandparents shed rotting away. Couldn't skate for shit but it was fun whilst i had it.
THIS 14:50 is what stopped me from 100% in hardcore. Really thought it was impossible in hardcore, which i guess it is without the speed glitch. I hope skate 4 doesn't have impossible challenges, I like to do them realistically. But nice job.
The stupidest thing about hardcore mode is the loss of max speed, makes absolutely no sense, especially since even in easy mode it's too slow compared to what any skater could go. (At least on flat)
Dang one of the challenges burned in my memory is this planetary thingie. Used to play the game in hardcore all the time, only tried easy when that youtuber with the fat avatar revealed his secret. The part where you need to do a no foot hand plant have no RNG. Usually the trick fails because there isn't enough time for the character to stabilize before it hits the gap, or should I say it stabilizes IN the gap, so it actually counts as you hitting the top of a ledge instead when you fall. When you are on top and start to go down you have to manually pull the character to the front a little instead of doing the usuall "leave it be untill it hit the ground strategy". Also, you need to get enough speed, for some reason going in slow makes the character not stabilize. Do it and you will hit it all the time in hardcore. Also, to get enough air to gap the spoke you have to learn to pump at the right time and hit the ledge on a good angle. You have to adjust the angle every time you've got air to land parallel to the wall in the exact start of the curve and pump on the exact start of the next curve. There is a specific flow to it. You can get pretty high when you get into the flow. The entire challenge is a test of your joystick manual skills in hardcore.
4:43 Hidden Masters theme (didn't follow the license sadly, "You may use the song as long as you link this video in the description. You can always tweet at us if you have any questions.") I used to watch 'em during CoD Black Ops.
Hardcore is so much better, pretty much the true Skate experience. All of the ott stuff is an understandable concession to appeal to a broader audience, and because sequels tend to inevitably expand in scope. But at the heart of it Skate was intended to be a simulation and to let someone skate way more lowkey lines with style and good execution, wringing more out of less space. Hardcore isn't just harder, it's more controlled. You can be 100x more steez with everything you do because there's variance and finetuning involved. Everyone loves doing insane shit on the mega ramp but people really shouldn't neglect the actually fantastic improvement to street skating and general tweakability hardcore provides. It's closer to a Session-lite than the more arcadey moments you get on Normal/Easy.
Love the casual toss in of the song from the game PAIN while doing hall of meat lol. Loved that game, played it all the time and I feel like nobody has ever heard of it. Great song👍

10:17 ik this video is like a year old but ima say it anyway, I found that you can actually hand plant on the concrete park next to the hole in the wall, and if your close enough to it, it counts
I’ve always played on hardcore and there are two missions that are impossible. Before watching the video, im going to guess that it’s almost impossible to complete the maloof NY tranny park OTL and there’s another OTL challenge in the rippon towers I think that’s definitely impossible. There’s one challenge in the rippon OTL that makes you grind three of the longest planters in the game in a sequence and I had to switch to normal because my skater wouldn’t hold any momentum. There’s plenty of other examples of challenges that are very difficult on hardcore mode but definitely possible after a bit of trying.

Consistent set ups for solar system are actually not too bad, airing the spoke fast is hard so that's why we don't kill it in the speedrun, but for the handplant you kind of just have to come at it diagonally and hit the corner of where the gap part of the quarter pipe is
I'm gonna come clean about this, I found a consistent set up after uploading this video. The game literally guides you with the arrows going up with wall, just by following it you'll get it every time

keep in mind I never tried pumping in the game until I got to solar system, so I was garbage at it, I'd do the first and last challenges and then spend about 20 minutes trying to get to the height only to smash my head in, the few times I cleared the bar I either somehow bailed on landing or had not done the last challenge, which I bailed doing
As soon as I read the title I had instant flashbacks to Sign of the Grinds. Was not surprised to see it on the list of things you struggled with. It just does not feel like that challenge was tested in hardcore.
