That is exactly what I was going to say. A lot of people don't realize how much work REALLY goes into game development. It's a massive commitment of time and resources.
Sega is flexible with fan games, but just like all companies, you can't make money from your franchises in any way. So no Patreon, Kofi, etc. Because then they would have problems
Incredible work! Huge step up from your previous sonic demos, needs a little more polish with the jagged looking animation transitions and needing to tone down the reflections on some surfaces but other than that it looks really great.
Alright even though the boss fight on a technical level is pretty different from the OG it gave me the same feeling I had as a child and I dont know how to explain it. Youve got something good on your hands. great job
This is really phenomenal and it brought back a lot of the joy I have been missing from Sonic games. SA2 is the video game that really left an impact on me as a kid and this is such a way to modernize it while honoring the source material. Kudos :D
hey, if you need any help with sound design, let me know. there are aspects here which could be improved, like the repetitiveness of the scraping sound of the "skateboard" and the slightly empty soundscapes, and i have plenty of experience working in unreal while studying audio engineering at university. it'd be a fun little side project. if you need any help, let me know
This looks incredible- actually like SanFrancisco too, which is amazing. SEGA please hire JeliLiam, for bringing back City Escape in the future- so we can get updated visuals and the actual cities- realistically with Sonic blowing thru them! This is the standard levels today should be at
He’s so fast man, this is beautiful. I’m not even a fan of sa2 but this is how Sonic should always look. And he probably plays just as fun as it is to watch
This looks pretty damn cool, I love how the visuals aren't just hyper saturation, bloom, and a bunch of AO. He also looks to control VERY nicely and faithfully, without being ridiculously fast. He's pretty well animated, my only gripe is that skateboard trick might need to be toned down a bit. Overall, very promising project! Can't wait to see where it goes
Some improvements that I thing you could do to the stage Since the streets on city scape are very big, you could add more moving cars on the main roads to make the stage more alive. Also add more foliage to the grass to make it less plastic Also do you have any plans to add the rail balance mechanic to the game ? Congratulations for make this game, great job!!
Really nice hybrid between original adventure physics and modern boost-style movement. This is exactly what I hoped for from Sega, hope chao garden comes in the future too
Now this a true, faithful remake of City Escape and overall SA2. The other one I saw was posted by Blue Vivacity and it was kinda bad, because it changed sound effects, voices and other things for the sake of change but still for whatever reason kept the old map from SA2 and just applied HD filters on top of them. This one keeps the old voice lines and most old sound effects while adding in good new SFX and remade the map altogether while making it still City Escape. Very impressive. They even redid the Bigfoot boss fight in a good way. This is the SA2 remake I’ve been waiting for
This is a really good looking Proof of concept. From a graphical standpoint, there really is no beating the potential of Unreal Engine. It looks really good enough as it is considering its a revamped version of DREAMCAST graphics, but if the devs put in enough work, it can look like a Triple-A-Studio level remake. It does look a bit too one-toned in a sense that it is definitely bold in colors, but not very in depth. Reminds me of cel shading. Now, gameplay wise, this is very solid framework. I can see in some places that the gameplay is broken in speed, such as animations and whatnot, but when Sonic is running, you can see the speed and high-intensity gameplay. I really like this and it shows what a SEGA-Mase SA2 remake's framework should look like.
im happy it has its own original assets and textures, thats what i hate about most ports and remakes - if i wanted it to look the same i'd play the original.
Well dang if he really went through the trouble of remaking the final hazard and city escape he might as well do the whole game so…I’ll see where this goez
The smooth transitions are awesome. My only criticism would be the lack of a tune for the invincibility power up and the need to increase the speed of the truck. Otherwise this project in incredibly impression quite simply because it not only gives us probably the best fan made city escape we've seen to date, but also includes the boss stage that goes with it.
Looks great but I feel the homing onto rails from boost games need to go. There's no satisfaction in getting a Cool from grinding on a rail by auto homing onto it. On the other hand, successfully, skillfully and manually landing & ramping up a rail with momentum from a homing attack feels great.
WOOO! Now THIS is a new fangame im looking forward to! Looks almost official! Even the visuals look less like ue and more like he2, which is good, this is like p-06 but sa2
Looks great so far but I don't know if this is because of this being an early build but the overly shiny surfaces need to go as they look really distracting
super immpressive. insane work. my only suggestion would be attempting to make new routes throughout the stages instead of sticking to the original's level design so heavily. make it feel like a true expansion! can't wait to see the demo next week!
I'm guessing the models will be custom done to make it more SA2 like, right? I'm gonna have to be that one guy and say that I don't mind the generations models, just add the soap shoes and call it a day but this looks brilliant regardless 😊 keep it up 👏🏾👍🏾
this project looks AWESOME. i feel like this will be like FF7 remake or black mesa. maybe some reduxed models and some stuff from the films would be great!!
I’m so mad that this isn’t official is so good could you imagine if we get a sonic adventure 1, And 2 remakes with the same visuals and graphics like redux,And adventure 1 rewrite like Ruby of Blue? THINK OF THE SALES
So that's why SEGA is remaking Sonic Heroes and not Sonic Adventure 2... Jokes aside, this is amazing! This is now one of my most anticipated projects!
If you pull back the camera so it's not this cool, this is actually pretty cool. You don't really need to do more with this. On it's own it's pretty cool.
this looks AWESOME! will it be moddable, and are you doing the whole game? and will there be a version for Sonic Adventure 1, Shadow 05, or Heroes? and will it be open source? I don't want it to seem like I'm being picky (Hehe, get it, because "picky" the critter) but I'm just wondering
_Finally!_ Most people make a “remake” by using the highest quality Sonic model and dumping him in the exact same Dreamcast level, making him look horribly out of place. Or they use terrible textures which makes the level look wet. Finally, someone has updated the actual level geometry, so that the Sonic model and environment fit together. Looks. Bit bland and empty, and the lighting needs more work, but this is hands down miles better than any other pathetic attempt made so far!
The worst part of this is having low hopes because of how often projects like this gets cancelled. That aside this looks amazing.
That is exactly what I was going to say. A lot of people don't realize how much work REALLY goes into game development. It's a massive commitment of time and resources.
It's because they keep doing things like this where they show it all over the place and don't even try to be anonymous.
Is that why some people like to lay low until they've gotten a good portion of the assets and whatnot done?
get cancelled? bruh they were dead from the start, these are just animations.
Sega is flexible with fan games, but just like all companies, you can't make money from your franchises in any way.
So no Patreon, Kofi, etc. Because then they would have problems
1:50 There's the wet concrete, a classic in these UE projects
RTX on
Lol
sponsored by nvidia, please buy our shiny gpu
You know what I like the wet concrete and wet roads and I'm tired of thinking I don't
It looks amazing 😊
If I could recommend one thing. Make the gun truck faster. So that it feels more threatening
And give it the giant sawblades from Generations. And add the Generations City Escape remix, too.
@@ProfessorMike64Or you know, just play generations
@@vreikezen8268 True. And I am getting Sonic X Shadow Generations for my birthday next month, so I could just play that.
@@vreikezen8268or instead of playing this fangame, you could just, you know, play SA2
@@samuunn i have a friend who wants to try sa2 for the movie but doesnt like the 2001 graphics 💔
You got the most important part down, the movement and flow. I think this'll go far
There are lots of aspects of the movement in this demonstration that feel very off to my eyes.
A SA2 remake that does not just import the old level textures? this is PEAK
Wasn't expecting much but fuck me, this is amazing.
It manages to strike that perfect balance between "different" and "familiar".
Incredible work! Huge step up from your previous sonic demos, needs a little more polish with the jagged looking animation transitions and needing to tone down the reflections on some surfaces but other than that it looks really great.
City Escape finally looks like San Francisco
What did it look like before?
@@SonicSouz just play the OG and you'll know (i recommend without mods)
I live in sf and it always kind of did
Alright even though the boss fight on a technical level is pretty different from the OG it gave me the same feeling I had as a child and I dont know how to explain it. Youve got something good on your hands. great job
There's some potential here. Those rolling physics, the Homing Attack and Bounce looked really smooth.
This looks amazing hopefully you continue this project!
Oh snap, it actually feels more like a real city instead of just a parking lot
This is really phenomenal and it brought back a lot of the joy I have been missing from Sonic games. SA2 is the video game that really left an impact on me as a kid and this is such a way to modernize it while honoring the source material. Kudos :D
Why does this feel like a dreams game?
I think you might have captured why this feels off to me.
hey, if you need any help with sound design, let me know. there are aspects here which could be improved, like the repetitiveness of the scraping sound of the "skateboard" and the slightly empty soundscapes, and i have plenty of experience working in unreal while studying audio engineering at university. it'd be a fun little side project. if you need any help, let me know

Hire this man -tm
Sonic Mania's taught us that gathering a number of fangame devs for an official product can be a REALLY good idea.
Games must be playable for most players
He’s so fast man, this is beautiful. I’m not even a fan of sa2 but this is how Sonic should always look. And he probably plays just as fun as it is to watch
Oh my god this is amazing, i love the renders and the smooth move set ‼️
the camera usage, the heroes voice lines, the perfect visuals, man this looking so good. Make sme ealise that sonic might be better without the boost
🤩wow😍

Looks so cool and Sonic Adventure 2 is my childhood game
I love how it's the exact same layout but it actually looks livable in.
He did it...he did it...
I'm glad that game is detailed well , for instance we can notice road isn't narrow like Og SA2
Some improvements that I thing you could do to the stage

This looks wonderful! I hope in this remake, Tails is playble (mechless) and Amy's playable too.
Now this a true, faithful remake of City Escape and overall SA2. That Sonic model looks amazing!!!
This is very impressive!
I'm serious , This game going to be PEAK
Sonic's running speed is good for me,but I think spindash is a bit slow for my taste
Spindash is way too slow. It's supposed to be faster than normal running speed but somehow it's slower here.
Dude this is awesome, really awesome!
Like Literally every time. I never try to get my hopes up. Projects like this always get cancelled due to how much time consuming it can be.
Joow, this looks awesome.
RUclips recommended something nice for once.
im happy it has its own original assets and textures, thats what i hate about most ports and remakes - if i wanted it to look the same i'd play the original.
Need to add a windy sound effect when you jump off the ramps.
Feels like Sonic's model is slightly too large imo. 🔥 nontheless
This is absolutely amazing
this is amazing but please make sonic faster and his spin dash or you can add an effect to make him fell faster
Looks awesome. Sadly, if I can't even play Final Nights 2 because of my specs, less I could play this one. But all my support to you!
This is the best SA2 fan recreation I’ve ever seen, second to none. I beg of you, please at least finish the hero story.
Well dang if he really went through the trouble of remaking the final hazard and city escape he might as well do the whole game so…I’ll see where this goez
God I wish Sonic had this type of movement in Frontiers
This is SO AWESOME, it looks like an official remake! XDDDD
This is amazing. It's the perfect reimagining that not even SEGA would be able to reproduce.
That's pretty sick that you made turn to dusk so the night time boss battle isn't so out of place
is this a custom framework?
EDIT: nvm, saw it's an edit of velocity+. the changes made are REALLY impressive!
Looks great but I feel the homing onto rails from boost games need to go. There's no satisfaction in getting a Cool from grinding on a rail by auto homing onto it. On the other hand, successfully, skillfully and manually landing & ramping up a rail with momentum from a homing attack feels great.
Glad to see progress on this is being steadily made 😁
Pretty good for a fan game, but something about it feels off. Like the environment feels small or something, better than metal harbor demo at least
u got my attention ill be waiting for the demo😋
WOOO! Now THIS is a new fangame im looking forward to! Looks almost official! Even the visuals look less like ue and more like he2, which is good, this is like p-06 but sa2
I miss the SOAP shoes 😔 Really glad they created a generic version of them to bring back in Frontiers.
SEGA hire this man (serious)
I Saw "unreal engine remake" and was expecting those over lighted looking stuff, like that dude doing the OOT remake. But this actually looks good
Looks beautiful
Looks great so far but I don't know if this is because of this being an early build but the overly shiny surfaces need to go as they look really distracting
I love this video i am a lover of good graphics :)

If the rumors of a Heroes UE5 Remake is true, than I could definitely see this as a real potential thing in the future
It looks like the physics are tweaked too, looks like how chaosx would remake adventure

Finally a version of sa2 i can actually hear the VOICE ACTING
It's not that bad in the original version. Especially in the Dreamcast Version. Lol.
I hope this project doesn't get canceled like other projects out there!
This looks pretty cool!
Please don’t cancel this it looks amazing!!!!
you have to show this video to sega it will be the best remake in the history of video games
is there going to be chao content eventually? god please i hope so

Currently we have 3 people working on this project, myself included, of which 2 work with Unreal and 1 is a 3d artist.

BROOOO THERE'S A LOCK ON SYSYTEM THANK GO D
THIS IS AWESOME
Nice and also my main man Big
even Big was in there
Great looking 👌
Very impressive 😮
Not bad but I think you should try to remake Sonic’s sa2 running animation rather than relying on the Sonic generations run animation
