That is exactly what I was going to say. A lot of people don't realize how much work REALLY goes into game development. It's a massive commitment of time and resources.
Sega is flexible with fan games, but just like all companies, you can't make money from your franchises in any way. So no Patreon, Kofi, etc. Because then they would have problems
Well its early in its development tbf. There isnt even a working UI lol. Thats excusable. But they already have a better run animation than ModernSA2 @deedoubs
@@spaciouswheat4580 Run animation is not what's going to make the game feel or not feel like SA2 ultimately. It's going to be the player's core movement code. This looks less SA2 right now and more 2006.
Most unreal projects like this are doing too much or just scream fan made project but this is actually pretty close to what I would want from an official remake. This is awesome
hey, if you need any help with sound design, let me know. there are aspects here which could be improved, like the repetitiveness of the scraping sound of the "skateboard" and the slightly empty soundscapes, and i have plenty of experience working in unreal while studying audio engineering at university. it'd be a fun little side project. if you need any help, let me know
Imean the board-sliding sound is really annoying, but… it's metal grinding against bitumen; it WOULD sound horrible IRL, so I can't fault it for that 😅
Alright even though the boss fight on a technical level is pretty different from the OG it gave me the same feeling I had as a child and I dont know how to explain it. Youve got something good on your hands. great job
Incredible work! Huge step up from your previous sonic demos, needs a little more polish with the jagged looking animation transitions and needing to tone down the reflections on some surfaces but other than that it looks really great.
This is really phenomenal and it brought back a lot of the joy I have been missing from Sonic games. SA2 is the video game that really left an impact on me as a kid and this is such a way to modernize it while honoring the source material. Kudos :D
Oh shit, I remember you, I commented about your Metal Harbor remake. Dunno who is working on the engine, but this looks like it plays leagues better. You're camera and lighting work is still top notch! I'm now convinced this is gonna be a great project!
This looks incredible- actually like SanFrancisco too, which is amazing. SEGA please hire JeliLiam, for bringing back City Escape in the future- so we can get updated visuals and the actual cities- realistically with Sonic blowing thru them! This is the standard levels today should be at
Now this a true, faithful remake of City Escape and overall SA2. The other one I saw was posted by Blue Vivacity and it was kinda bad, because it changed sound effects, voices and other things for the sake of change but still for whatever reason kept the old map from SA2 and just applied HD filters on top of them. This one keeps the old voice lines and most old sound effects while adding in good new SFX and remade the map altogether while making it still City Escape. Very impressive. They even redid the Bigfoot boss fight in a good way. This is the SA2 remake I’ve been waiting for
The larger arena for the boss is brilliant. The way it's set up allows you to make more creative use of movement, especially when dodging attacks, but also with how you time your own. This looks really promising
The level design itself looks more spatious to allow some more freedom of movement and fine adjustments to your platforming which I think it's essential for a high speed platformer, and the animations look and feel just so smooth, I love it. Every part of it. It's perfect.
yo ive seen a fair few of these remakes but this one really hits different i think youve done a great job workin in UE5 and it made me feel like i was watching a trailer for the remake ive always wanted
I love the change to the Big Foot arena: even if its not exactly a hard boss, having the arena setup so you can potentially find cover while it strafes just feels right
this is insanely cool. genuinely stellar work this is actually insanely cool i'll definitely look at other projects u make too in case u want to make more sometime, also can i just mention that sonic model is GENUINELY PERFECT?????????? like oh my god it is EXACTLY what i would want from a sonic design in one model it's insane, great work on everything
Some improvements that I thing you could do to the stage Since the streets on city scape are very big, you could add more moving cars on the main roads to make the stage more alive. Also add more foliage to the grass to make it less plastic Also do you have any plans to add the rail balance mechanic to the game ? Congratulations for make this game, great job!!
For a teaser this is decent af. Theres still stuff to be tweak but for a teaser this is cool af. I just hope this project at least got to be finish more than well majority of remakes
The smooth transitions are awesome. My only criticism would be the lack of a tune for the invincibility power up and the need to increase the speed of the truck. Otherwise this project in incredibly impressive quite simply because it not only gives us probably the best fan made city escape we've seen to date, but also includes the boss stage that goes with it.
I've been planning to get into doing PC gaming on a gaming laptop soon so when I have all of what I need for that and am ready to do it, I'll give this fanmade remake a try for sure! What's been shown in this trailer looks impressive and so does all of what I saw in the announcement trailer!
This is super cool! Animations are nice and snappy and everything looks fairly faithful. I’m a tad worried at how heavy the jump and homing attack looks but everything else is on point!
This looks pretty damn cool, I love how the visuals aren't just hyper saturation, bloom, and a bunch of AO. He also looks to control VERY nicely and faithfully, without being ridiculously fast. He's pretty well animated, my only gripe is that skateboard trick might need to be toned down a bit. Overall, very promising project! Can't wait to see where it goes
definitely cut from a different cloth than the usual SA2 "remaster/remakes" we've been seeing. my favorite things are how there's a bigger emphasis on weaving between cars when sonic first lands, like he actually dropped in on the busy roads, and how by the time the truck is chasing you it's dusk
He’s so fast man, this is beautiful. I’m not even a fan of sa2 but this is how Sonic should always look. And he probably plays just as fun as it is to watch
WOOO! Now THIS is a new fangame im looking forward to! Looks almost official! Even the visuals look less like ue and more like he2, which is good, this is like p-06 but sa2
I came to the comments to be an ass and mention my lack of interest if there was no chaos garden in this remake. I instead watched the video and I'm flabbergasted at how amazing this looks. If only you got to do this professionally for the big bucks, you deserve it!
I like that Big was there and the cool jump during the boss, and the bigger level design. I don't like how empty the world is (we don't need to explore the world but it could still be filled in).
as far as I can see the only thing that I could improve is the management of the lights with tando that we are in the air the Engine 5 is also improved in the management of the shadows on Sonic's shadow for the rest the animations are very typical of both the original version and the version of Sonic generations and also the modernization of the textures of Adventure 2 is done well this is the first project after Sonic omens in which I feel with the right commitment and dedication it can be a fan game that can be remembered keep it up good work the dream of all those who opened this video is realized
This is really good. The only thing I would really say is having the models look like the yuji Uekawa art from sa1&2, expanding the levels even more and better camera work aside from that this is really good and I think the mod msa2 which is also redux which it has been worked on for a long time does some really cool stuff and you should definitely take a look maybe get some inspiration also, I just wanna say that Bossfight was redone so good and I love it and I also love how when you’re running on a flat surface you don’t lose any speed that’s how it should be and I’m pretty sure it’s like that here where going uphill you lose speed going downhill you gain speed and going on a flat surface you keep the speed you gained from going downhill it’s perfect
I like the freedom of movement in this. IMO many more modern titles make 3D levels feel to stiff, but fast. A longer range jump dash is also fun and more useful. The Unleashed jump dash was like, 2 ft in distance.

How long did you work on this? It looks great! The physics look like they'd feel close to the original. Maybe you could make Sonic a bit faster and the beginning skate section a bit longer, it felt a bit short. Plus add a few special effects when doing tricks for example and so on. That would make this even better despite being great already
Sound design is genuinely amazing, like how u kept the original ones but added a bit extra. One thing i would say tho is that i feel like the momentum is a bit too easy or unrealistic compared to SA2. I really liked how they did it there.
The worst part of this is having low hopes because of how often projects like this gets cancelled. That aside this looks amazing.
That is exactly what I was going to say. A lot of people don't realize how much work REALLY goes into game development. It's a massive commitment of time and resources.
It's because they keep doing things like this where they show it all over the place and don't even try to be anonymous.
Is that why some people like to lay low until they've gotten a good portion of the assets and whatnot done?
get cancelled? bruh they were dead from the start, these are just animations.
