That is exactly what I was going to say. A lot of people don't realize how much work REALLY goes into game development. It's a massive commitment of time and resources.
Sega is flexible with fan games, but just like all companies, you can't make money from your franchises in any way. So no Patreon, Kofi, etc. Because then they would have problems
The larger arena for the boss is brilliant. The way it's set up allows you to make more creative use of movement, especially when dodging attacks, but also with how you time your own. This looks really promising
Well its early in its development tbf. There isnt even a working UI lol. Thats excusable. But they already have a better run animation than ModernSA2 @deedoubs
@@spaciouswheat4580 Run animation is not what's going to make the game feel or not feel like SA2 ultimately. It's going to be the player's core movement code. This looks less SA2 right now and more 2006.
The level design itself looks more spatious to allow some more freedom of movement and fine adjustments to your platforming which I think it's essential for a high speed platformer, and the animations look and feel just so smooth, I love it. Every part of it. It's perfect.
Most unreal projects like this are doing too much or just scream fan made project but this is actually pretty close to what I would want from an official remake. This is awesome
It looks amazing 😊 If I could recommend one thing. Make the gun truck faster. So that it feels more threatening Edit: woah... can ya'll chill in the replies. I was not trying to start a war down there
Alright even though the boss fight on a technical level is pretty different from the OG it gave me the same feeling I had as a child and I dont know how to explain it. Youve got something good on your hands. great job
Incredible work! Huge step up from your previous sonic demos, needs a little more polish with the jagged looking animation transitions and needing to tone down the reflections on some surfaces but other than that it looks really great.
hey, if you need any help with sound design, let me know. there are aspects here which could be improved, like the repetitiveness of the scraping sound of the "skateboard" and the slightly empty soundscapes, and i have plenty of experience working in unreal while studying audio engineering at university. it'd be a fun little side project. if you need any help, let me know
Imean the board-sliding sound is really annoying, but… it's metal grinding against bitumen; it WOULD sound horrible IRL, so I can't fault it for that 😅
If there's any feedback I can give, I'm not an expert on animation, but Sonic's air-pose with the skateboard is moving too fast without sticking on any key-frames for the player to react to. Sometimes it's good to let a specific pose "breathe" a bit to evoke an emotion or response from the player. The air tricks in Sonic Generations are a good example.
@@MetaKaios aye that's true enough, but it wouldn't sound like a looping waveform like here. you would expect more modulation based on imperfections in the road surface, subtle changes in timbre depending on which part of the "board" has the most weight on it, etc. you wouldn't need to have super realistic simulation to do this, but a couple of different layers in FMOD or maybe some generative audio in tandem with the static waveform would give it a bit more variety
Really nice hybrid between original adventure physics and modern boost-style movement. This is exactly what I hoped for from Sega, hope chao garden comes in the future too
I like that Big was there and the cool jump during the boss, and the bigger level design. I don't like how empty the world is (we don't need to explore the world but it could still be filled in).
This is really phenomenal and it brought back a lot of the joy I have been missing from Sonic games. SA2 is the video game that really left an impact on me as a kid and this is such a way to modernize it while honoring the source material. Kudos :D
everything about this looks so good. i love the way you've changed the big foot fight not entirely by changing its patterns but by changing the arena it takes place in. you even have a bridge from radical highway just above it to show where and how sonic and shadow cross paths. amazing work.
This looks incredible- actually like SanFrancisco too, which is amazing. SEGA please hire JeliLiam, for bringing back City Escape in the future- so we can get updated visuals and the actual cities- realistically with Sonic blowing thru them! This is the standard levels today should be at
I love the change to the Big Foot arena: even if its not exactly a hard boss, having the arena setup so you can potentially find cover while it strafes just feels right
Now this a true, faithful remake of City Escape and overall SA2. The other one I saw was posted by Blue Vivacity and it was kinda bad, because it changed sound effects, voices and other things for the sake of change but still for whatever reason kept the old map from SA2 and just applied HD filters on top of them. This one keeps the old voice lines and most old sound effects while adding in good new SFX and remade the map altogether while making it still City Escape. Very impressive. They even redid the Bigfoot boss fight in a good way. This is the SA2 remake I’ve been waiting for
I'm not sure why you want old sound design and voices when the sound mixing was pretty awful. You could barely hear the voice actors. Not to mention that their performances were not too great. Blue Vivacity did it way better and that's just a blatant fact. Stop defending your unity port of Sonic Adventure 2 and support something better like the other SA2 remake. Also you complaining how they change the models and voices while not the levels makes zero sense at all. @@cringlord1920this project is infinitely more faithful to the original game that modern sonic adventure 2, that’s a fact, that game changes things for the sake of changes things while being on a limited engine

Well, you've proven to me God is real- you've answered my prayers immediately. YOU FUCKING ROCK.
The graphics and animations are both really high quality and fluid. I also like that you modified the levels slightly instead of doing a complete 1:1 recreation. The only two nitpicks I have are that 1. the Spindash looks a bit weak and 2. the camera feels like it hugs Sonic a bit too closely. I feel like positioning the camera a bit further back would increase visibility a bit, especially in the more open sections. Just my opinion though, I'm by no means a game dev and couldn't put together anything nearly this good myself.
Some improvements that I thing you could do to the stage Since the streets on city scape are very big, you could add more moving cars on the main roads to make the stage more alive. Also add more foliage to the grass to make it less plastic Also do you have any plans to add the rail balance mechanic to the game ? Congratulations for make this game, great job!!
This looks pretty damn cool, I love how the visuals aren't just hyper saturation, bloom, and a bunch of AO. He also looks to control VERY nicely and faithfully, without being ridiculously fast. He's pretty well animated, my only gripe is that skateboard trick might need to be toned down a bit. Overall, very promising project! Can't wait to see where it goes

definitely cut from a different cloth than the usual SA2 "remaster/remakes" we've been seeing. my favorite things are how there's a bigger emphasis on weaving between cars when sonic first lands, like he actually dropped in on the busy roads, and how by the time the truck is chasing you it's dusk
This looks fantastic so far! Great work! I hope you guys continue to tweak it. I’m personally not feeling the Generations running animation. Something with a little more bounce in his step would feel more Adventure-y. Also I hope you add more trick animations to the boarding section!
The smooth transitions are awesome. My only criticism would be the lack of a tune for the invincibility power up and the need to increase the speed of the truck. Otherwise this project in incredibly impressive quite simply because it not only gives us probably the best fan made city escape we've seen to date, but also includes the boss stage that goes with it.

That is exactly what I was going to say. A lot of people don't realize how much work REALLY goes into game development. It's a massive commitment of time and resources.
It's because they keep doing things like this where they show it all over the place and don't even try to be anonymous.
Is that why some people like to lay low until they've gotten a good portion of the assets and whatnot done?
