  • 📢 The doodle category of dogs is getting so popular these days that there are some that many dog lovers haven’t even heard of yet! Of course, dog ownership isn’t a popularity contest, and broadening your horizons can actually help to pair you with the perfect animal for your unique interests and hobbies. Today we are going to be looking at one of the rarer doodle breeds out there, the Whoodle, and pit them against the most popular doodle, the goldendoodle.
    👉 A Quick Overview
    🐶 Whoodle
Well, like all doodle breeds it is part poodle, but they also inherit genetics from the wheaten terrier as well. Wheaten terriers are pretty small, and so Whoodles are slightly smaller than your average doodle, but they have a big personality to make up for it. These are also great farm dogs, and they excel at activities like herding too. Don’t get us wrong, though, Whoodles are also really fun-loving creatures, and they make great companions as a result. Their silly personalities and high level of intelligence give them a pretty unique demeanor, which makes them really fun to own.
    🐶 Goldendoodle
Goldendoodles are considered, pun intended, the gold standard of the doodle family, and are also the original doodle to boot. These dogs are the result of crossing a poodle with a golden retriever. They are also significantly bigger than the Whoodle, although there are multiple sizes that can close the gap quite a bit. While the Whoodle can be described as a little trickster with a silly personality, the goldendoodle is the definition of a family lapdog. They love company and want to be involved in everything that you get into.
🐶 Whoodle Details and Fun Facts
Just how small is a Whoodle? Well, usually about 11 to 20 inches in height and 30 to 45 pounds at full size. You’ll notice a little bit of a range in their sizes, and that’s because both the Whoodle and goldendoodle are hybrid dogs. That means things like their coat color, size, and even their personality will vary a little more than purebred dogs, which means you will have a more unique experience with these dogs.
🐶 A Little More About the Goldendoodle
Goldendoodles are some of the most recognizable dogs on the planet right now, but there is a lot more customization out there than you may think. For example, goldendoodles come in three different size categories, which range from 15 all the way up to around 90 pounds. These dogs are pretty large, and that is part of the reason why they have what seems like they run on an endless battery supply.
    🐶 Temperament and Training
Whoodles are very fun dogs to own, since they have a personality that really shines through. These are positive dogs that also tend to be pretty affectionate toward their owners. They are pranksters too, and love to mess around. If you are looking for a dog that you can just tell is quick-witted, then this might be the pet for you. Goldendoodles are also pretty smart, since both the golden retriever and poodle are some of the smarter breeds out there. These dogs became so popular in the first place because of their laid-back, family friendly nature, and they fit well into most home dynamics.
    🐶 Health & Lifespan
Health and lifespan is an important factor to many owners, and luckily both the Whoodle and goldendoodle tend to be on the healthier side of things. These dogs usually live about 12 years, and as they are smaller they can sometimes live well past that mark. Making sure they have the right kind of paperwork and are reputable can go a long way in making sure you spend a long and happy life with your dog, and that you don’t have to deal with any health concerns.

I have a soft coated Wheaten Terrier female and a male Whoodle. First both of these breeds look a lot like a teddy bear when they are under the age of 1 year. As they age, their coats change in color a lot. My Wheaten Terrier is very stubborn and as many female dogs are, very independent. My Whoodle loves to do anything to please me, and as most male dogs he is very dependent on tons of affection and love. My female wheaten is demanding when she wants something and will let you know right away if there is something wrong, plus she is very protective of my wife if my wife hurts herself or is just sad. (Neither would ever bite anyone, but they may lick you to death with love.) While my male Whoodle will cry if ignored, left alone, and if you don't pet or scratch him in the morning for at least 15 to 20 minutes, he will nudge you with his cold nose and especially your hands if he can get to them as he wants you to show him some good morning affection. My Whoodle is extremely playful and appreciative of even small things. He also works hard to make everyone happy. I love them both, but I must say my whoodle is the best dog I've had in my entire life and my wife always says the same.

We have a black woodle ( his color is pretty much two tone now with black and silver gray. He is almost two years old. He is so soft and is a joy to have around. We take him to daycare once a week 9:35 to be around other dogs and he loves it. Doesn’t like to be left alone and tells me every day when it is time for his walk. He gets the zoomies running like crazy in the back yard. So happy we got him

I have a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier (on my 2nd). They are wonderful dogs so sweet and so smart. But they're terriers. They need a gentle alpha human. They respond well to a gentle alpha. I've never seen either of my Wheatens 'herd'.

Interesting! Anyone have any suggestions on how to potty train a goldendoodle? My girl just can't get the hang of it. She's only 16 weeks but I don't know what to do. Can't use the potty pads as she shreds them to pieces! Thanks in advance!

Hi! The best way, the most consuming time but it pays big time!
You must take you pooch out every 2 hrs at first, than once it knows that
He must go outside to do his business, you can add one to two hours.
Using pee pads ? Nah! Than you have to start the process of going out.
I have had dogs for the last 40 yrs. It's time consuming but the easiest
Good luck! Encourage your puppy once outside and praise him

My doodle is the same age as yours. I tried wee wee pads ( she ate it). I am using faux grass now and she has been using it regularly. For starters use some of her/ his urine on the pad so they will know what it's for. Good luck !
