Trivia : In this game, you're playing as the driver that everyone known as Miracle Summit in the Kaido Battle 3rd game. The 1st Kaido Battle game, aka TXR DRIFT, you're playing as the Emotional King/Forever Knights before he defeated Kaido President the original Emotional King in 1st game.
Extra extra lore: there is a cutscene around halfway into KB3 that has two disembodied characters commentating your battle. The context of the scene highly implies it's Miracles Summit and Emotional King, your past selves commentating on your current self.
I absolutely love this game. Probably the very close to TXRD 2 greatness. This game has a lot of interesting things that never appear in other Kaido Battle game.
Due to licensing issues, many of the non-JDM manufacturers were gone from the international releases of Kaido Battle. But here's the thing in Kaido Battle 2 / Kaido Racer: while the latter got DeTomaso and Lotus removed, if you're diligent enough to check the used car dealer every day, rare chances are you gonna find Lotuses. Unfortunately, the DeTomasos (Pantera and the ultra-rare Vallelunga) were purged from. Same thing with Gemballa due to explicit request from Porsche. Bizzarely enough, TXR:Drift have Audis that were ported from Kaido Battle 2, while Kaido Battle 1 doesn't. This is due to the fact that TXR:Drift was released three years after the OG version (one year AFTER THE TRILOGY WAS CONCLUDED). Even funnier, the US-version doesn't have Fords lol.
There is a really funny bi-product of this actually. A team named God's Favorite was part of the midgame throughout the series, and they drive euro cars. The leader is named Cosworth Master and had a Ford Sierra. But when ported, his car was changed to a Lancer. In Kaido 3, they gave up entirely and changed his name to Bosworth Master and gave him an Audi lol.
God this reminds me how much I hate Licensing Deals with Car Companies to make Racing Games. The amount of games Car Libraries made Confusing and Ruined cause the Car Companies charge outrageous amounts for even just 1 car half the time not even always rights to an Entire Brand usage. And really licensing deal in general. Still made Hajime No Ippo Victorious Road 2 was only released in Japan arguably one of the Best Boxing Games of All Time especially for the PS2 Era Considered. Instead we got Victorious Boxers. A entirely Watered Down Version of the Japanese one. Which loses the Create a Boxer and Free Roam Career that Made the Game Worth Playing in the First Place. As well as some of the Other Best Features. And for some reason no one has made a Translation to English on a Rom or Something. Genuinely pisses me off so much I almost want to pay someone a shit ton to Translate it and Put it On a Easy to Access Rom. Since I'm not learning an Entire Language just to Play or Read Something.
Love the used dealer in the final Kaido Battle, so many hidden gems that you never thought existed in the game could suddenly pop up, like the S30 Fairlady for example.
One of the coolest things to me about this txrd2 is the driving physics. I bought a DFGT specifically for this game and it got me into sim racing once I got to experience a good driving physics game with a wheel. Cars reacted how you would expect based on their drivetrain and other factors. It's not perfect, but it's really good for the time.
I would like to tell one thing about Hiroki Koukami [Forever Knights/Nights], so from what i've read from the wiki: He's the first protagonist of the Kaido Battle trilogy, since the former Emotional King is Kaido President got beaten by him, he became the new King, gained a canon name as the 2nd game's boss, and his new nickname would be Forever Knigths/Nights [Blackout in TXRD2/Kaido 3] In anycase this game is definitely recommended for car game fans out there
Yep. Also, in Kaido Battle 2 Chain Reaction/Kaido Racer (this game), you are playing as everyone known in the 3rd game of Kaido Battle (TXR DRIFT 2/Kaido Racer 2) as Miracle Summit.
Kaido racer became my favourite by far, kits for cars look decent and physics were pretty good. The AI was actually decently challenging without being the complete suicide crashers from txd1.
It's a decent video however, got some information at least somewhat wrong here. It's a good introduction to the Kaido Battle series of games, but I want some to keep in mind with some very minor things. 11:36 -> This portion albeit wrongly saying "Rice" when all the parts in the aero section are very useful. Wings add in more downforce than the Aero kit itself, but can make your stable generally speaking upon acceleration is inputted. As like I said the whole aero package has front and rear downforce. That helps maintain stability at higher speeds. The Rally Kit actually helps with aero as well, but not to a greater extent, but if it's at the top of the car for downforce is applied. Meaning over jumps and all that it would be more stable overall. 8:45 -> I'll be honest with you most of the rival bios are actually really off. Meaning more so machine translated with a lot of mistakes and or wrong information. I may fix this with a patch someday soon, but am working on something for TXR3 to make it make "Sense" than bad grammar and all that. 3:53 -> Keep in mind what you buy at the UCD, there are a lot of cars which are heavily worn out. The car will overall feel clunky to drive and lose more power and handling overall. The game will only show dealer stats than the garage stats in t his instance, but since Genki loves using their GNK_Rand() function it can create some things other worldly with how random it can be. Overall that's all I have issues with really. Everything else is pretty good and I'd say if anyone is at least new please try Kaido Battle 2 at the very least. It's a good fun game, but I wouldn't say "Forgotten" more so Genki's own games are their own "Cult Classics", as most have not forgotten the series and I bet Genki hasn't either.
I recently got this game over the winter, I got absolutely hooked on the physics, it’s super fun! I can’t handle playing TXRD3 but this game feels awesome. I wish they had used these physics moreso in the 3rd installment The music too
I just started txr:d2 about a week ago and I am enjoying it a lot playing on my old ps2. The attention to detail and the world around is just something else. Genki needs to make a come back
there is also a genki hidden gem that need a English translation mod like they have done to racing lagoon , it's called "racing battle c1 grand prix" the amount of fun that I had playing it and you can even engine swap your cars and it have a lot of RPG elements we can call it a CARPG , you need to review it.
That race near the end of the video, pure cinema. 👌 When it comes to the TXR series as a whole they always have a charming way of giving you a rather pleasant experience when it comes to Touge or Highway racing. The game does have a few shortcomings as mentioned in the video but I feel they always nail the gameplay and aesthetics, like TXR Zero/TXR3 it always makes you want to play more. It's genuinely a good series in my opinion, one that some people don't really know about. Great video as always, props to you and Sharicite for pushing out another banger video!
lol i was gonna ask on reddit if the second kaido battle was as good as the third one (drift 2 here in US), and now that i know it is, its getting played!
This is the best feeling game in the TXRD series, for what ever reason they changed the handling for the others in the series so that you are really only stuck using AWD cars cause they are the only cars you can control while drifting.
The tuning sucks, that's the issue. After years of trial and error, I can shred Akagi in full in any of my rwd drift cars. This game takes finesse and practice.
The biggest issue with TXR Drift is they tried to make handling physics was intended for Drifting which is not suitable for everyone who wanted to play either grippy or semi-drift. Thats why it was really hated by majority of players when it released back then, too hardcore to make it drifting game while not making it fun to drift. Only in just recent years that players started to love this game because the drift was really good but the scar is still there. I normally hated this game too but at some point I get back for another play and I admit that it was okay to play after some trial and error but thats it, not really fun to play for long time though.

Not having the face buttons be pressure sensitive finally made me have to use the triggers for throttle and brake once I started playing it on emulators with a ps4 controller.
ive been playing this for years. the reason why i never got any apple products cause ive had this on the go everywhere i go cause of emulators and in fact i still do i have this on my car tablet with two controllers 🤗
None of the games in this series are really a "hidden gem" anymore man. Every racing game RUclipsr and his dog has done a video essay on them at this point and it lowkey sucks that there's pretty much no racing games that I've ACTUALLY not heard of. The TXR series really isn't as obscure as everyone likes to make it out to be.
I haven't played this one, but TXRD2 definitely feelsore alive than GT4. More realistic? I don't know, because GT4 drifting is ass, but the handling on TXRD2 is definitely arcade but feels good. The dirt driving is weird too, definitely better in GT4
@@toddthezondalover645 lol . handling in txrd2 is anything but not arcade , if u have g27 or gt driving force , put it in your ps2 , and u will be blown my friend , u can drift in this game same as assetto corsa , u can do it on joystick too , U just need to know to tune your car properly , and u need to have knowledge of track . i can send videos of full mountain drift, from top to bottom , no hit , over 100 000 CA points.
Polyphony needs to do their own take on JDM culture and street culture of cars. Similar to that of Microsoft's Forza Horizon games. I'm sure many more fans would hop off Forza Horizon and onto GT if this ever happened.
I really like TXRD1 Handling and Drifting, when I tried both TXRD2 & Kaido Racer I didn´t like the handling and drifting, is there any way to improve my experience in those games?
🤣😂🥲 now as an old fart thats played these games new let me actually give you a real tip . . . suspension tuning maters like in real life cars come stock with under steer so when you start tuning settings matter helps to be a mechanic or know one you can pick up books on real life settings too you just need to know when to make front or rear suspension stiff or soft for road types and conditions
I miss the 90's and 00's racing game scene so bad. It really sucks that Gran Turismo, Forza and Need For Speed are the only relevant AAA racing games nowadays (SimRacing is way too expensive to get into, unless you're fine with singleplayer racing only. Solar Crown looks terrible. The only saving grace is the indie scene...)
Are you playing on pcsx2? your footage looks incredible. My txrd2 and kaido racer doesnt look this crispy and beautiful, also cant get rid of black vertical lines. Any tips for setting up pcsx2 to look like this?
Interesting, this game doesn't even look worse than Kaido 3, I think I even prefer the menus and graphics. Also The PAL NTSC setting is much simpler than that, most games especially later in the PS2s life gave you the choice to switch between 50Hz and 60Hz as 50Hz TVs were being slowly phased out
If they were public it would look like it was a normal release which it isn't so everybody just unlists their streams so it doesn't flood the home page
KB 1/ TXR drift 1 is the toughest of the three due to it's unlock system and progression, KB3 is the easiest in these ways and KB2/ KR is in between. Driving wise KR feels the most cohesive, KB3/ TXR D2 is good but "sticky" in lower powered cars and KB 1 is the more primitive of the 3

then u will realise this game is not that arcady as u think .
U can drift properly in txrd 2 and 3 . with controller or wheel , tuning is very important , but people come from nfs , dont know sh1t about , camber , LSD ratio , Stabilizers, Suspensions ,Weight to Power ratio , etc ,, i tell u this game aint no arcade as rest of those games ..
Nice video as always DoVe brate !
Not having the face buttons be pressure sensitive finally made me have to use the triggers for throttle and brake once I started playing it on emulators with a ps4 controller.
i miss this game
ive been playing this for years. the reason why i never got any apple products cause ive had this on the go everywhere i go cause of emulators and in fact i still do i have this on my car tablet with two controllers 🤗
Reminds me of midnight maximum tune
I'm a Japanese Kaido Battle 2 player, and I found some sponsors' names seem to be different from Japanese ones.
None of the games in this series are really a "hidden gem" anymore man. Every racing game RUclipsr and his dog has done a video essay on them at this point and it lowkey sucks that there's pretty much no racing games that I've ACTUALLY not heard of. The TXR series really isn't as obscure as everyone likes to make it out to be.
how about racing battle c1 GP?
i just wish i knew how to drift in the kaido battle games
Why do I like the reflections on the cars in 1 a lot more than 2.
I love this game
Had no idea that kaido battle had my 87 toyota starlet turbo-S in it
With the right tuning and gearing ratios, you can make it a rocket as well, it's kinda the best starter car 😅
i think that although the handling isnt entirely simulative, the physics remain faithful to real car handling, it's much more realistic than GT4
I haven't played this one, but TXRD2 definitely feelsore alive than GT4. More realistic? I don't know, because GT4 drifting is ass, but the handling on TXRD2 is definitely arcade but feels good. The dirt driving is weird too, definitely better in GT4
@@toddthezondalover645 hmm true xd
@@toddthezondalover645 lol . handling in txrd2 is anything but not arcade , if u have g27 or gt driving force , put it in your ps2 , and u will be blown my friend , u can drift in this game same as assetto corsa , u can do it on joystick too ,
U just need to know to tune your car properly , and u need to have knowledge of track .
i can send videos of full mountain drift, from top to bottom , no hit , over 100 000 CA points.
Great video. I didnt know about it
I like the UI of this game. Gonna try this since publishers f*cked up over releasing Genki's games. C1 Grand Prix haven't released internationally.
I remember a similar game but it had a drift bar that filled up, anyone know which game it is?
Eh? I always thought TXR Drift 2 was the sequel to TXR Drift. It's a nice surprise that there's another game to enjoy.
5am and I'm awake for some reason
Polyphony needs to do their own take on JDM culture and street culture of cars. Similar to that of Microsoft's Forza Horizon games. I'm sure many more fans would hop off Forza Horizon and onto GT if this ever happened.
There's also Road rage 3, not so cool, but nice cars
This game already got persona 3 level ost😩
"favourable reviews by japanese outlets" sir famitsu will rate literally anything 30+ regardless of how good it actually is
They need to make tokyo extreme racer for the new gen consoles
I've unlocked my PS2 just to play the original japanese versions of these Genki games well before they were released in the west.
I really like TXRD1 Handling and Drifting, when I tried both TXRD2 & Kaido Racer I didn´t like the handling and drifting, is there any way to improve my experience in those games?
I miss this game so much. Does anyone know a place where we can download an emulator?
Beat this game with the Lancer Evo MR
Tokyo xtreme racer coming back next year!
This game is one of the reasons I want to buy a new PC
I want to buy this game. Do I buy txrd2 or kaido battle... Is it the same thing right or???!
I run mostly basic settings nothing too fancy but it just works for me on pcsx2
Thanks for the reply! I guess my old crusty gtx 1050 can't run the emulator on higher resolution 😅
Interesting, this game doesn't even look worse than Kaido 3, I think I even prefer the menus and graphics. Also The PAL NTSC setting is much simpler than that, most games especially later in the PS2s life gave you the choice to switch between 50Hz and 60Hz as 50Hz TVs were being slowly phased out
Is this battle gear
wow amazing!!
Bruh I starter playing it las week, it is really good
Hey, Dove_7. I have a question for you. Why do you unlist your streams on RUclips? I'm just curious.
If they were public it would look like it was a normal release which it isn't so everybody just unlists their streams so it doesn't flood the home page
@@DoVe_7
I guess that makes sense.
I'm thinking about playing this whole series is the first game worth playing or should I start with this and txrd2 ?
If you're talking about storyline order, then let's start from Kaido Battle 1 (TXR DRIFT), this game (Kadio Battle 2 Chain Reaction/Kaido Racer), & Kaido Battle 『峠の伝説』 (TXR DRIFT 2/Kaido Racer 2).
KB 1/ TXR drift 1 is the toughest of the three due to it's unlock system and progression, KB3 is the easiest in these ways and KB2/ KR is in between. Driving wise KR feels the most cohesive, KB3/ TXR D2 is good but "sticky" in lower powered cars and KB 1 is the more primitive of the 3
How can I play ? Like is this on PC or console?
ps2 emulator
