I am confused about the dislikes on this one. I am not upset about it, but could any of you who disliked it tell me why? I am a big advocate of constructive criticism so if you could help explain to me so that I could improve in the future, i would really appreciate it! Thanks guys!
Might have just been weird timing in the beginning as you seem to have a similar ratio as your normal ones now. But since youre getting more popular, youre going to get more and more people that come in just to be rude.(Which makes no sense, because youre the nicest guy out there) Its pretty much guaranteed once you get to a certain number of viewers though, so dont let it discourage you! Your RUclips skills are improving every day. More of your personality is seeping out with each video and its great. Keep up the good work.
My first thought was "Brian eats dead animal and youtube comments lead me to belief that vegans will dislike any video that mentions meat." I went back quickly and looked at your like to dislike ratio, and this one does seem to be a bit high on the dislikes. Though if you go back far enough it starts to become confused, because one video only had 11 likes, and another one 30. You've come a long way!
+Brian Alsruhe apparently 8 estrogen zombies accidentally clicked on your video and were instantly triggered by the presence of unapologetic manliness and the consumption of delicious dead animals.
I absolutely love you're channel brotha. Had such a rough start to my year, almost gave up on my passion of lifting and all the goals I had planned out along with it. By some stroke of luck I landed on one of your vids a couple of weeks back, ever since then my drive's returned and my spark for life has begun to grow again. Keep at man, you're a beast and an inspiration.
Brian I just want to say thank you, I've been silently watching your videos for a long time now. I appreciate everything you do, you have helped me out a lot not just with strength training, but with bettering myself as a human being in general. So again, from the bottom of my heart thank you!
Morning Brian I'm a 41 year old lifter with plenty of injuries and far off from where I want to be physically! However, I'm in the gym 5 times a week training hard. Love your videos, tips and humour. Keep it up James from the UK
Hey Brian, I got a new PR last night and two points you've taught me that have really helped are lift light weights like they're heavy, and heavy weights like they're light. That combined with super/giant setting antagonistic movements I believe have really helped me make gains. I just wanted to thank you and say your content is helping me get results. I appreciate you
2 weeks away with the family and no internet (there obviously was internet I just didn't log on) and you added like 14000 subs. Great to be back and watching your vids and seeing you get the recognition you deserve for you hard work Brian. Keep it up and do sweat the dislikes it was probably the US poultry and Egg association worried about a sudden sales decline in birds !!
I'm new to the channel but I have to say I love your channel already. You really are a friendly giant! You look ridiculously yoked and extremely intimidating but when you speak it's so inviting. Subscribed!
agree about the fighting.I don't partake in any mma or combat sports but ive added sparring on a punching bag to my cardio and the weights flying off.Great video once again!
Brian, I think it speaks volumes of your character to take the time to reply to all the comments/questions on here and various forums. I've been following since the earlier T-nation days and remember you being pretty active in MMA and grappling. I was actually about to ask if you had kept up with it since opening the gym, but here you already answered my question! What kind of gym are you training at now? Is it more traditional BJJ with gi? Or no-gi MMA style? I can't see myself chasing PRs on deadlifts as I continue to get older, but BJJ is something I can see myself doing far into my old man years.
Always look forward to your videos Brian. Goodluck on the cut, 18lbs is a big drop in 4 weeks. Im competing in August, but luckily still have a little room to gain weight.
Great video as always. While your videos are a great educational tool it's your positive attitude, humor, outlook on life, and strive that really makes me watch them. You've really given me the motivation to not settle with where I am and constantly look to improve myself both physically and as a human being. Keep up the awesome work and good luck with your cut.
Killin it as per usual, man. Always dig the videos. I totally agree on the counting calories-- always made me more neurotic than normal. Good luck on the cut
I never miss out on a Brian Alsruhe video! I been doing farmers walks every single day and I am blown away by how fast it burns fat. if I can refrain from binge eating I can lose like 3-5 lbs in a single session no lie. but I'm sure you know this already lol after all your video motivated me to start doing them in the first place.
Belt don't matter, man. For mine (not BJJ, not a competitior), I had to fight five black belts at the end of everything else. I didn't have to win, I just had to live. I lived.
They say recent research indicates either there is no anabolic window or its several hours long. "Because it works." Nuf said. Hard to argue with a guy with numbers like yours. I listen. Btw thanks for hammering home the importance of upright rows. Been doing them before bench as you suggested and it makes a world of difference. Thought you were crazy when you said one should be able to row their bench and it turns out I'm pretty close. Thanks for all these videos!
Brian, great content as always. I live up in VT so not much strongman stuff around these parts. I'm 49 and someday I would love to try a competition before I get to damn old. And I agree, grappling is the best conditioning out there. I've been a wrestling coach for 30 years and every season I can't wait to roll.
This channel, AlphaDestiny, Eric Boggenhagen (spelling is butchered, I know) are all getting the attention they deserve. Very cool to see such great content producers taking off!
Thank you for this video....i apreciate the way you elaborate your thoughts when explaining things it really helps me grab the concept....I have basically went to a similar diet as you and has worked well so far.
Brian is way too nice in the comments like this is RUclips people are dicks but jurassic park over here is adimint about being positive and that's pretty chill. keep it up Brian
Brian Alsruhe maybe but I think it's rare. more often, sucking up whatever and being the bigger person usually means you are stronger and more in control than the other guy. remembering to be nice takes effort. It's all too be a jerk. any moron can do that.
Hi bro! your videos are great! don't put attention to the negative people man they don't deserve it..best of luck on everything you are doing..God bless You!
Dang, & here I thought 10lbs in 8 weeks for my upcoming comp was unpleasant. 18 in 4 weeks? I think I'll be fine. Thanks for putting out such awesome content Alpha; it's good to see people whom actually deserve it get recognition these days. As an aside, that first b&w made me spit water.
Is there a club you fight in? Like... some sort of club, for fighting. Not sure what you'd call it. A club where you fight. Hmm. Also, yay more on Omar's channel! More Brian is best Brian.
To echo a comment below, I'd love to see more conditioning videos. Your mindset challenge videos have given me ideas for conditioning workouts at the fire station. We're limited on space and equipmet so some stuff gets modified, but the idea stays the same.
I reeeally should get back to jujitsu.. I've still got my gi lying around somewhere waiting for the day! Too busy with all the other martial arts and training (and watching your videos haha)! Man, I hate weight cuts! Gonna be rooting for ya!
Eating primarily carnivore has really improved my health, physically, & mentally. A little veg here, and there but the biggest plant based item I consume is MCT, & olive oil. My fat loss has slowed a bit, & I think it is from more whole milk (carbs are the devil for me) then usual with the heat index running about 100f the last two weeks. It is great eating when I'm hungry, and stopping when I'm full, & still feeling well enough to get stuff done. Curious to hear how you water cut.
you gotta do roast chicken with 1 -2 teaspoons of chille powder, paprika, ryus seasoning salt (Costco) and cayenne pepper, garlic your preference how much. butterfly the chicken sprinkle spices and bake at 400 for an hour. if you don't like this then you have a problem!😃👍
Hi Brian, Another great video...Have you thought about trying a 'real' ketone supplement to feed those muscles - Pruvit Keto OS ?It recently launched in Aus and is a fantastic aid to training.Cheers
Are you doing Maryland's Strongest this year? I don't think I saw you on the list and there are only 20 spots left open.....Also, I totally love the hot sauce smiley face on the eggs!!
Yo brother! Top 5 exercises for jiujitsu? I guess a lot of rowing type movements? Sick of getting out positioned on strength (especially in no gi where I have no lapel to grab)
Hey Brian!! What about some strength and conditioning routines for combat sports? What's your ideas on that. I don't know, maybe it will get you some new subs... Anyway, wish you the best!!
Brian, if you can stay leaner and maintain strength levels on a lower carbohydrate diet, what are your reasons for staying at a higher bodyweight when not cutting for competition? Wouldn't it be easier to stay closer to your competition weight year-round?
Could you potentially be having the vomiting issues so often because of the coffee and hot sauce(s)? I had issues with something similar for about a year, but I cut out coffee and spicy food from my diet and I no longer have that issue.
Hey Brian, I have a couple of question for you.... I was trying to make a cut down to the 231 class but wasn't able to since my weight was stuck at 250 three weeks out from comp, my conditioning was on point with my lifting during training days and off days, my questions are how do you measure your fat intake? or you guess? Do you eat 5-6 times a day? What do you do on the air assault bike? My gym has one and I wanna use it more for conditioning
Well i explained what i eat in this video man. i don't count the macros because i will become obsessive with it. And i usually do 12 minutes of :20 Seconds Sprint, :10 Second cruise on the Assault bike
have you considered going plant based or slowly going plant based starting off with eating fish only? I'm vegetarian and I lost 50 lbs in 6 months. I feel better, don't get as sore as much and have increased my strength. I'm not trying to push vegetarian or vegan but more athletes are going towards that route and are noticing improvements.
When you're not cutting do you eat carbs, or typically keto all the time? Also, cheese? If I didn't have my 4th kiddo on the way, I'd totally get back into BJJ, mind you I was 70lbs lighter back when I was into it.
How many calories difference would you say you are consuming from regular to now? I need to drop to sub 231 and the diet is kicking my butt and is way too slow. Assuming my frozen shoulder clears up from post op I want to hit a contest in August and need to drop another 22lbs but you can do almost that many by MAY?? Help me!
Hey Brian, I'm thinking about starting jiu jitsu as well, but i love to train for powerlifting still... how do you combine the trainings in terms of recovery? Is it a big challenge?
Depends on who you are rolling with. if they are advanced guys who understand how to not hurt people then it is no problem at all. If you roll with people who have ego and are out to prove something then it is going to beat you up.
Knee to the face. Ouch. Nice shiner though. I thought in the past videos you were looking a little more trim. We both have comps in May thats awesome. You'll crush yours for sure!!
can anyone confirm that brian follows a ketogenic diet? i always wondered if i could lift and eat a high fat moderate/high protein, low carb diet. great videos btw! theyve inspired me soo much
You said typically you go low carb because your body responds better to a HF HP diet, but 1 gallon of whole milk has around 175 carbs. Does your body respond better to that versus say 175 grams of carbs of rice? Your videos are fantastic
Sugar reduces cortisol and SHBG. Starch increases serotonin which increases cortisol and opposes dopamine, reducing DHT and increasing prolactin which in turn increases estrogen and downregulates androgen receptors.
At first I thought this would feature peas but no. "The Puppy" discusses how he gets his spots. and now I need peas. Damned bulk had me eating three lanes of cookies this week...
so i tried eating alot more fats rather than carbs for a few days and ended up real constipated even though i eat a good amount of fiber. Does this happen to you (or anyone else)?
Just curious, how much of that 18 pounds do you expect to lose on your diet compared to the water cut? I'm guessing the water cut is going to get you 8-10lbs?
What do you tell a strongman with two black eyes? Nothing, his wife already told him twice.
Hahaha!
if you ever meet him make sure to talk very slowly because clearly he doesn't listen ;)
just wanted to say i love your positivity and content !
Thank you so much for watching it!
Brian Alsruhe it is only a pleasure 🙌
I am confused about the dislikes on this one. I am not upset about it, but could any of you who disliked it tell me why? I am a big advocate of constructive criticism so if you could help explain to me so that I could improve in the future, i would really appreciate it! Thanks guys!
Brian Alsruhe you only got 7 dislikes lol.
Might have just been weird timing in the beginning as you seem to have a similar ratio as your normal ones now. Brian Alsruhe 7 people are jealous that you are stronger than them and could beat them in a fight
My first thought was "Brian eats dead animal and youtube comments lead me to belief that vegans will dislike any video that mentions meat." I went back quickly and looked at your like to dislike ratio, and this one does seem to be a bit high on the dislikes. Seeing how serious you take your training motivates me to do the same! Thanks for the motivation Brian!
Dude, you inspire me all of the time!
Hes lying about the black eye. The barbells are finally fighting back!
Hahaha!
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite youtube channels.
We're all cheering for you Brian. Love that energy man.
Thanks so much brother!
Brian I just want to say thank you, I've been silently watching your videos for a long time now. I appreciate everything you do, you have helped me out a lot not just with strength training, but with bettering myself as a human being in general. So again, from the bottom of my heart thank you!
10 seconds into the video and already got a hilarious black and white video cut. nicely fit in.
And his wife looks like she could leave a black eye on him also.
Hahah thanks guys!
Your channel is like a breath of fresh air on RUclips. Absolutely love the content and the delivery style!
Morning Brian

Thanks for watching it man! i would have had one out Tuesday but i was recording the video for Omar's Channel .
You got my like man. Keep up the good work!!!
Great post once again Brian, very best of luck on cutting weight. And of course good luck with the strong man competition!
2 weeks away with the family and no internet (there obviously was internet I just didn't log on) and you added like 14000 subs. Great to be back and watching your vids and seeing you get the recognition you deserve for you hard work Brian. Good luck with your cut Brian, I know how tough it can be. I'm rooting for you for the comp.
Were you always this athletic Brian? Seeing a huge +200lbs guy do these circuits is truly amazing!
Thanks Brain, after watching the OHP video my OHP went up 10lbs easy, went from 185 to 195 in about 3 weeks, thanks a lot.
Brian, I think it speaks volumes of your character to take the time to reply to all the comments/questions on here and various forums. I love that you have Kerrygold butter in Maryland. I didn't think we let it leave the country!
I live in Missouri, and eat Kerrygold all the time. It's quite popular.
Yea man, you guys are killing it!
Nah my girl gets it too. Doesn't even have to go to a specialty store. It's right there in the butter aisle.
Josh Johnston holy shit Kerry taking over the world
Michael O'Shea she's originally English. she knows what's up.
Always look forward to your videos Brian. Goodluck on the cut, 18lbs is a big drop in 4 weeks. Im competing in August, but luckily still have a little room to gain weight.

really hope you do well in that competition!
Thank you so much, i hope so too!
Killin it as per usual, man. Always dig the videos. I totally agree on the counting calories-- always made me more neurotic than normal. Good luck on the cut

Absolutely man, they are awesome!
Great video as always Brian! I'm a big fan of your channel right now. I'm looking for purchase your program soon
So you're ridiculously strong and a black belt in jiujitsu? And you're very conditioned? Goals tbh
Nah man, i'm not a back belt, I stopped going to gi classes when i started MMA, so i have no idea what belt I am.
Belt don't matter, man. For mine (not BJJ, not a competitior), I had to fight five black belts at the end of everything else. I didn't have to win, I just had to live. I lived.
although... training in the gi is a great way to lose 18 lbs of sweat in about 45 minutes
DawnOfTheDread, you're hot
Dude your a walking bad ass. You should put up some of your BJJ videos. Good luck w the cut mate I'm in the same boat 17 days out👊🏼
Good luck brother and yea, I would like to but it gets kind of weird with the consent stuff.
They say recent research indicates either there is no anabolic window or its several hours long. "Because it works." Nuf said. Hard to argue with a guy with numbers like yours. I listen. Really dig hearing about your love of BJJ, and that you're getting back on the mats.
It has been so great, thank you!
So many great things happening! Awesome!
Absolutely! Always hustling!
Eating spinach by the handful is by far the best way to go! Thanks for the video Brian.
Absolutely agree man!
Brian is way too nice in the comments like this is RUclips people are dicks but jurassic park over here is adimint about being positive and that's pretty chill. keep it up Brian
Hahah is it possible to be too nice?
Brian Alsruhe I think there is a line in the sand and ur standing right on it
Brian Alsruhe but ur a great dude keep this up
Hahaha just trying to change the conversation brother!
Brian Alsruhe maybe but I think it's rare. more often, sucking up whatever and being the bigger person usually means you are stronger and more in control than the other guy. remembering to be nice takes effort. It's all too be a jerk. any moron can do that.
Awesome videos Brian, and good luck in May!
Thank you so much!
Hi bro! your videos are great! don't put attention to the negative people man they don't deserve it..best of luck on everything you are doing..God bless You!
Could you upload a fighting session of you? would be really interesting to watch.
i would need to get consent of everyone in the class plus consent of the business, so probably not.
Hahaha thanks man!
Is there a club you fight in? Like... some sort of club, for fighting. Not sure what you'd call it. A club where you fight. Hmm.
Also, yay more on Omar's channel! More Brian is best Brian.
QQyoko you are not supposed to talk about it
QQyoko Jeez man. You arent suppose to mention it! hahaha
Hahah everyone beat me to it!
48Boxer what are you doing?!? You fool you just broke the first rule!
Brandon is great, can't wait to see it.
What protein powder do you use?
Hopefully this video with omarlsuf hits up on my notification quickly.
Awesome video brother.
Yea i am not sure when he is uploading it but it should be soon.
Love this video man! One day you gotta do a video on your MMA/BJJ training as a conditioning routine!
Yea man it just gets weird with getting content from people. You have to be really careful about that stuff.
Brian Alsruhe true brother! Either way you're a continuing source of inspiration to us! Keep doing what you're doing!
you gotta do roast chicken with 1 -2 teaspoons of chille powder, paprika, ryus seasoning salt (Costco) and cayenne pepper, garlic your preference how much. butterfly the chicken sprinkle spices and bake at 400 for an hour. if you don't like this then you have a problem!😃👍
Just recently subscribed and love the content! Keep up the good work Brian
Thank you so much Logan!
Brian Alsruhe got me away from all bodybuilding and doing powerlifting/ strongman now 😂😂 I'll be sure to let you know how it works out for me!
Hi Brian, Another great video...Have you thought about trying a 'real' ketone supplement to feed those muscles - Pruvit Keto OS ?It recently launched in Aus and is a fantastic aid to training.Cheers
Brian you're a fighter too huh? Man you're one dangerous dude.
So do you try to stay in ketosis or just kinda do the low carb high fat "by feel"?
The george forman grill in college comment struck way too close to home. That was basically the extent of my "cooking" in college too.
Could you potentially be having the vomiting issues so often because of the coffee and hot sauce(s)? I had issues with something similar for about a year, but I cut out coffee and spicy food from my diet and I no longer have that issue.
I would do what Westside Barbell does and try to aply it to Strongman!Axle Bar Cleans with bands would be a trip!
I have 10 pounds to drop in about 4 weeks so this was great motivation, time to get it done!
Absolutely man! We all should have started yesterday!
Brian Alsruhe guess I'm swearing off tacos and burritos for a while
An mma training video would be really cool.
Haha the Kerry gold butter🇮🇪 shamrock gains, it's also good for bumps and bruises dunno if will work on your shiner doh ha great vid
Hahah i will try it!
love your videos
I heard "aerosol bike" and was very confused until air assault bike came up on the screen.
When you're not cutting do you eat carbs, or typically keto all the time? Also, cheese?
If I didn't have my 4th kiddo on the way, I'd totally get back into BJJ, mind you I was 70lbs lighter back when I was into it.
i eat cheese like crazy but i usually don't eat too many carbs unless during cheat meals.
You're awesome man! just started watching your content and it's hilarious and informative! and you only have 10 dislikes mayynn ;)
how is the whole coconut butter in coffee thing? I keep hearing about it but for d it disturbing to ruin my coffee
Hey Brian, good luck with he cut. I checked your RUclips site and couldn't find that pesky donate button/thing. Any other way to do it?
It is definitely on My main home page but i think it excludes some countries for some reason. I really appreciate it though!
That burpee/pullup exercise, do you do that Tabata style? Or how are you working that in? & are you at all familiar Oats Overnight? Thoughts, if any?
I use them in all kinds of different ways man. and i am sadly not familiar with that
How many calories difference would you say you are consuming from regular to now? I need to drop to sub 231 and the diet is kicking my butt and is way too slow. Assuming my frozen shoulder clears up from post op I want to hit a contest in August and need to drop another 22lbs but you can do almost that many by MAY?? Help me!
Good luck bud! I don't suppose there will be any way to watch the May event live?
Nah man, it is a small show
Do you plan on recording it yourself? It'd be fun to watch.
I am sure someone will record it for me!
Hey Brian,
I'm thinking about starting jiu jitsu as well, but i love to train for powerlifting still... how do you combine the trainings in terms of recovery? Is it a big challenge?
Depends on who you are rolling with. if they are advanced guys who understand how to not hurt people then it is no problem at all. If you roll with people who have ego and are out to prove something then it is going to beat you up.
Don't know if I missed it, but do you track calories Brian?
Automatic thumb up for old school TNT mug
How workout with that intensity and heavy with so low carbs?
Knee to the face. Ouch. Nice shiner though. I thought in the past videos you were looking a little more trim. We both have comps in May thats awesome. You'll crush yours for sure!!
So will you!!!
Brian Alsruhe You are awesome. Thanks man!
can anyone confirm that brian follows a ketogenic diet? i always wondered if i could lift and eat a high fat moderate/high protein, low carb diet. great videos btw! theyve inspired me soo much
Eating knees part of the meal plan? Haha! Just kidding!.... Great video, thanks for sharing.
Hahah indeed!
😂 the smiley face on the eggs 4:08
Hahaha glad you like it!
Awesome video! Surprised to hear no carbs after u lift....
Nah, it has never really helped me. But I think people should do what works for them .
How many calories do you cut or bulk with?
You said typically you go low carb because your body responds better to a HF HP diet, but 1 gallon of whole milk has around 175 carbs. Does your body respond better to that versus say 175 grams of carbs of rice? Your videos are fantastic
Sugar reduces cortisol and SHBG. Starch increases serotonin which increases cortisol and opposes dopamine, reducing DHT and increasing prolactin which in turn increases estrogen and downregulates androgen receptors.
+Michael Sherman Starch still does overall reduce cortisol, but sugar is better as long as you maintain insulin sensitivity.
You mentioned college, where'd u go to college?
Eating a handful of spinach like an apple? Fucking animal.
