    Mad how Ireland has won 27 of the last 29 test matches. Ireland is a different team to the 2019 Ireland.
    If they were to crumble with fear and “bottle it” they would have back during the six nations when they played France for the grand slam. They also would have when they lost the first match in New Zealand but went on the beat them the remaining two games which won them the series. They also played SA home while number one in the world and beat them there and have a 54% win ratio over SA. So it’s so evenly matched it’s crazy.
    Both teams can win on the day which is why this game is going to be so exciting.

    Thank you for actually telling it like it is for Ireland! Every other country writes us off to a dominate super rugby NZ, a recent run of form for SA or hosts France. The irish pundits have been incredibly negative recently. The boys in green built their title through hard work and results. I completely accept the hard run of games we have from our group, suspected QF and enivitable final(if we go that far). I for one believe in this group we have currently to go all the way. I am 100% biased being Irish but for the sake of rugby in general can every rugby fan imagine (Even if your country gets knocked out) the six nations match 2023 between Ireland and France times a world cup trophy on the line if thats the final this tournament plays out. Easily the best first 50 minutes of rugby you will have seen in the last (debate ensues). But take that and multiply it by a world cup trophy when neither teams has ever won one. Even as an Irish Fan my heart goes out to France for Ntamack, danty, Baille and Willemse because that is the final I want to see with all of them playing plus the other star player against, Porter, Sheehan, Furlong, Beirne, Ryan, O'Mahoney, Van der flier, Doris, JGP, Sexton, Lowe, henshaw, Ringrose, hansen, Keenan!

      We may prefer to meet the All Blacks now, but perspective can change so much in the matter of only one game being played. Despite their performance against SA in the warm up, the All Black's could shoot the lights out on opening night and blow us all away with rugby wizardry like the first 20 mins against South Africa in the rugby championship, and all of a sudden we'll be praying for France. Plus, France have lost Ntmack, front row Cyril Baille, and now their lock Williamse for the entire tournament.

      If refs do their jobs properly Ireland should be blown to pieces like what happened to NZ last Friday.

    People forget that Ireland might settle for runner-up position in the group in order to mitigate against injuries in the SA game. This would be smarter tournament management instead of risking facing Scotland and potentially a Quarter Final with a depleted side.

    • @helenaville5939
      @helenaville5939 11 месяцев назад

      @@Wide-eye Every game strategy is a risk. From Ireland's perspective it might be considered a bigger risk to field a full side against the physicality of South Africa and risk injury to their big players, leaving them to face Scotland and potentially the Quarter final, etc with a depleted side. That sounds like a much bigger risk. Scotland (like Ireland) is a side that signifies speed rather than physicality. Ireland risks far less injuries playing against Scotland than against SA. If this turns out to be Andy Farrell's strategy then Scotland's chances of progressing are diminished.

Top teams are playing to win by playing a boring kicking game with power and Im not a fan of the water break introduced in last nights game, I feel its targeted to helping promote the power game for recovery and not good overall game as we are supposed to be moving away from slowing the game down with quicker lineouts and set pieces. @@helenaville5939 they're deluded.
      France and SA managed one try each vs Ireland.
      Our average is about 3 to 4 tries per game irrelevant of the opposition.
      1 try and a couple of penalties won't cut it vs Ireland.... Can they do better vs our defence, I don't think so, we'll see.

      Both have there strengths, I’d say the running game of Irelands forwards is better then the Boks. Ireland statistically have higher ruck success and while the Boks have a better set piece, last time they played there wasn’t a turnover at any set piece. Either way will be a great match up!

      Best ever Irish team but one who could because of the draw even fail to make it out of their group. It is possible SA beat both Ireland and Scotland and then whichever of these teams wins the last group game could well be depleted with injuries and tired and then have to face France or NZ. This is what happened in 2015 when shorn of arguably their four most important players and with nothing in the tank they lost to Argentina in the QF.
