as someone who knows very little about subnautica, you managed to make this very entertaining to watch! i love how much of the core game mechanics just broke with one change. so glad i decided to click on this vid lol
Here's my theory as to why some actions are tied to real time while some are tied to the day cycle. The longer actions (charging batteries, growing plants, power generation) follow the day counter so that when you leave your base and unload that area, the time will be corrected when you return. The game likely records when you started the action (i.e. battery placed in charger at day 100.23), so even if it's unloaded, when you come back it will see that x time has passed and update the progress. Actions carried out directly by the player will always be loaded, so they follow real time. Not sure why the flashlight was the only tool tied to day progression though...
Oooh, clever idea! Trying to fit the flashlight into your idea, maybe the flashlight can be put down while leaving it on? In which case, you should expect it to continue draining while you’re gone. Even if that’s not quite right, IIRC other player-built light sources, such as the lights on the Seamoth can remain on and drain vehicle battery while you’re away. Could simply be duplicate code from one of those light sources being copied over, with no real need to change it to match other tools.
@Dash123456789Brawl yes you can drop the flashlight while on, which is why it drained so fast The only issue is that the prawn suit didn't drain, despite the fact you can leave it powered whilst unloaded.
Hi, thanks for putting English subtitles, it allows me, who is French, to be able to watch the video in good conditions (thanks to the translation of the subtitles by RUclips). So thank you for making this effort.
2 things First, this is a strain on the eye, but such a cool idea. Second, plants are in fact not useless, but the ultimate bioreactor fuel here. 3rd, I know it sounds awefull, but: gel sacs. They don't rot, grow instantly, and provide water and food.
Gel sacks are the ultimate bioreactor fuel. You can make infinite gel sacs from a single one! If you get an exterior grow bed, plant the gel sack, then slice it twice before picking it up and replanting it, you can get infinite spores from a single one. Then I set up a gel sack farm for the bioreactor. I always do this for my secondary bases!
Fun fact about the rocket sequence and why your coordinates stayed the same (and this may make or break your entire sense of accomplishment): the rocket NEVER actually takes off. The way the game works in at least some versions is that it just spawns the entire scene around the rocket while you are affixed to the seat. It makes a miniature planet or two that moves by, and a weird light tunnel effect around the shuttle for the boosting. I believe it also just switches the sky to the nighttime skybox to simulate the darkness of space, too. You can see this if you use freecam to leave the rocket during the sequence. Yes, you NEVER leave the planet. You never truly escaped from planet 4546-B. And now you have to live with this fact, too: the fact that In the OG subnautica the ocean wins in the end.
Yes! You are 100% correct. In a future stream we watched this cut scene from the outside and saw all the debris appearing, and the planets, and the warp field of whatever it's called. So cool!
@@semajniomet981 i haven’t played subnautica in a while, nor have i played natural selection. But i am pretty sure the ‘phasegate’ is an actual man made structure in the universe that serves as a portal. A giant orbital gateway to drastically reduce space travel time and fuel costs by teleporting starships long distances. They are talked about in game as being “owned” by certain groups, implying they are a physical structure and not a warp field. (Edit: yes they are physical teleporters, according to a quick look at the Natural Selection wiki. I still do assume they also have massive space ones for starships.) The green effect is just that, a warp effect used to show the rocket boosting TO the phasegate. It makes sense too, since the Neptune wouldn’t have a large amount of fuel on hand to facilitate a particularly long journey back to Earth, especially in a warp drive. It took the aurora a number of weeks to reach 4546-B, and that was a capital ship with loads of space for fuel and an engine. So using the fuel the Neptune did have to simply make quick time to the closest phasegate would be much more efficient as the gate would just teleport it into near space.
