Mines been doing this too, mostly when it's cold, makes sense this is the cause of that creaking noise being cold rubber rubbing on the metal steering column. J11 1.5dci Qashqai

Thanks for sharing - fixed the bloody awful noise on our 2015 Qashqai - WD40 is perfectly safe on rubber by the way !

The noise is said to be a gasket there that goes bad. Nissan sells an updated part. It is in another video.

Nissan never again to many unsolved problems and to many excuses from dealers. To many days without the car. To many noises. To much expensive repairs in a few miles car.

Don't use WD-40, it degrades rubber.! Use something else silicone based or rubber safe, WD-40 is a shit lubricant anyways since it dries out

WD-40 is the brand name - that's their lithium grease he's using which is safe on rubber and plastic, not what we'd normally call "WD-40".

What causes the noise when turning the steering wheel?

Not sure I think its a bearing in the steering column

Dealership told me it is the steering wheel boot. I checked some videos, appears to be a part under the steering wheel rod, near brake pedal area.

Had to apply some more last week. Lasts around 2 months. Better than spending hundreds of pounds
