      It sounds exactly like what he just described lol i had this problem on my 18 altima i just had someone spin the wheel and lube up the boot with brake lube key here is to use non petrol lube. Petrol lube will eat the boot away and allow things to get through including moisture. Any brake grease will normally work not a bad idea to take some spray lube like wd-40 to the steering linkage aswell it is easy to access just put the car on jack stands and take off driver side wheel for altima atleast and spray some wd-40 on the u joint for the linkage aswell that could also create a squeak now if its more of a whine and its constant while turning thats normal for the electric over hydraulic power steering pump. Unless its like crazy loud then you might need to replace it then good luck because new after a core charge theyre like 500-600 dollars and thats after the core charge like i said.

    • @christiandoupe9495
      @christiandoupe9495 9 месяцев назад

      I replyed before i saw the video lol that u joint on top of the part that goes through that boot could also create a squeak when rusted just take some wd-40 and spray that like crazy make sure you catch the oil tho because it will screw up that boot if you let it sit on there remember petrol eats plastic because it is also made from petrol***

    Great, informative video. It's funny, because I thought this might be a steering column issue but I thought, let me check the steering fluid first however I couldn't find the steering fluid reservoir, so I checked RUclips and found your video, watching you made me think... It's simple enough.... But, I think I'll buy the part and have a professional install it! Thanks!

    Great video, thanks. Nissan dealer told me it was the Clockspring and wanted to charge me AUD220 to replace and fit a new one. Having found this video, I look to have solved it (without touching the Clockspring) on my 2016 Qashqai (UK & AU name for Rogue) but I went with the cheapest option first. Inside the rubber part is a blue ring, I've removed it and the noise is gone (for now). If it returns, I'll buy the full part and replace.
    You'll need to reconnect the rubber seal to the white part afterwards otherwise you'll hear the outside noise. As X.Johnson says, the tabs holding the white part in place may break as you remove it, so instead, I pushed it through the floor and then pulled it up at an angle to get it out. It was then easy to reconnect the 2 parts and place back into the floor. I sprayed the column in the floor with a bit of white lithium grease before putting the seal back in place just to give it a bit of extra lubrication.
    If this fixes it, I'll be back to Nissan to question their Clockspring diagnosis!!

      Shola. I am having steering noise issue for 2016 Nissan Rogue when i turn right slowly. I took to the Dealer for couple of times but they are saying its Normal for electric power steering. Any ideas guys how it can be resolved.

      @@LemonTree288 its creaky sound. Nissan confirms knowledge of the issue but says no solution for it yet. To be honest, I've decided to live with it as the car has been good in all other areas.

      @@yubrajtimalsina8946 mine sounds creaky when I'm turning left or right. I also hear it more when the weather is cold. I've driven other cars and never had such a sound. When I was trying to fix it I was told by a former Nissan mechanic that it's a problem with most Rogues of 2016 and 2017. Not sure if its happening in the later models.

      Hi Denize, it doesn't typically mean anything is wrong. It is just annoying and can sound like something is wrong with an important part of your car if you don't know where the sound is originating. A good way to see if it's the same problem location as shown in the video is to spray a small amount of penetrating lubricant in the crevice between the shaft and the seal and see if the noise goes away.

    What about just adding grease??

    • @BoneyardLabs
      @BoneyardLabs  Год назад

      Grease would work as long as it is a silicone base, as it is safe for nearly all elastomers. You can apply it by hand or soft bristle brush. Just inspect the condition of the seal to make sure there are no cracks, nicks, cuts or other damage in the rubber. You can also take your engine oil dipstick out and use a couple drops from there to lube/hydrate the seal.
