I was at the 19 71 league cup final celts fan I was in the rangers end off hampden watching thistle ran riot celts defence all over the place the was a rumour that rangers hearing the half time score left watching there own team and got taxi s to hampden to cheer on thistle that is so sad
I was at work all day and remember turning on the radio and thinking at first all the celebrations were from Hearts supporters until the penny dropped! It was an amazing feeling. Still don't remember how I celebrated that night, it must have been good. C'mon ye Celts.
Went 50 games or so unbeaten ,had 2 left, dundee & Don's in cup final week later, everyone bar Celtic were lamenting a double,😂🤣 I also mind them all cheer as Celtic put a penalty in at ibrokes to make it 4.2 ,but United had just scored to win league ,& WE,RE OBSESSED? Glasgow has always been obsessed with oneupmanship
I remember being at Easter Road that day...03/05/1986....we were losing to Dundee United and their keeper caught the ball as a massive radio-news cheer filled the ground...the keeper thought he had given away a Pen (but Albert Kidd had scored his first of two)! We lost 1-2 but it was still a happy day :)
Bet it was buzzing edinburgh that night if u were hibs fan and the following week at hampden when they got pumped mcdonald and jardine and clarke ex huns season ruined in one week god bless king albert
I went to Dens Park as a neutral that day because it was such a huge occasion. The stadium was packed, with the majority of fans being Hearts supporters. I did not expect the game to turn out the way it did, but I was disappointed in the way that Hearts approached the game as they played differently and rather negatively from their previous games and paid for it. The despair in the stadium was palpable and they ended up losing the Cup Final as well soon afterwards. I remember someone saying Hearts, Mita won the league, Mita won the Cup. (Mita being their sponsors)
Happy Albert Kidd Day!.. ...Laughed out loud at Kevin Lynch posting the flag of Jordan - the country that nicked most of the land earmarked for the Philistines. I guess he thought it was the Philistine flag😂. Typical Celtic ignorance and idiocy.
Was listening to this game on the BBC world service in Australia going absolutely radio rentals as Sir Albert Kidd scored the first goal! Never forgotten it, nor John Hewitt the next week in the cup final. It would have been hellish if Hearts had held on though! GGTTH
YAAS!! Albert Kidd, Celtic fan, does the damage on the day to clinch the league for The Bhoys and give me one of my happiest childhood memories! Is there anyone more legendary in Celtic folklore who didn't actually wear those amazing Hoops as a player?I doubt it, so hats off to you, Albert, and thanks for the memories! Now sit back and enjoy watching Celtic win 10-in-a-row (and the rest)!A serious shot at Europa League possible now as well I think over the next few years.
All I heard from Hearts fans for months on end at work is were gonna win the league all I can say what a day Monday was at work YES I'M A HIBS SUPPORTER
What a great commentator David Francie was not like the crap bbc have on the airwaves now. Dundee had a very good team back then and were pushing for Europe. ! Happy days ! Hearts fans still in a bad mood about that day ! 😄
Albert's 2nd goal was a beauty a great one two great goal I was surprised I didnt think dundee wud have wanted to celtic to win the league thot they might have held back a bit but when celtic supporting albert came on there was no way he was holding back
Had it off the Jambos at work all month long and could see them mkaing their way to the station and left just as it started ,was out in the garden when the missus come out and said Kidd scored and thought shit but she said it's 1-0 for dundee then when they got the second a cheeky jambo passed the garden funny he wasn't smiling any more
In 68 my mate had nobody to go to ibrox with him for rangers last match for the title at ibrox he asked me to go with him am a celtic fan he was 11 i was 12 he begged me to go with him his dad let him down i said to him i can listen to all that fenian stuff he said stand with me and dont say anything and kid on your cheering if we score so i relented and went with him we were at the front off the copland rd end rangers were winning 2 1 and aberdeen came back and won 2 3 celtic won the league without playing my mate said your a effing jinx😂
Was at love street that day days before internet where we werelisting on wee radios waiting for news from dens its a very special memory that will stay with me forever 💚🤍💛
As a Celtic fan, would have been thrilled anyway, but it was amplified by the behaviour of the Scottish media, who had Hearts crowned champions way prematurely. Fact, some journalists criticised Davie Hay for withdrawing players from the Scotland squad for our match v Motherwell a few days before Love St., the theory being that the league is over anyway. We won 2-0 at Motherwell and then there was Love St., proving Hay right. (A few Hearts fans were quietly in the Fir Park crowd in case Celtic slipped up and gave Hearts the league. Poor souls.)
Like a badge of honer tae the scu#my Hibeez Lol they were meant tae have been gone heavy mental when they fun oot Dundee had scored😂😂 Hearts losing the league in 86 is almost like a trophy tae Hibs🥳🍺🍾🏆👍🏼🤪

Hearts bottled it , plain and simple ; they only needed a draw . Celtic should be applauded for rising to the occasion . When Martin O'Neill's Celtic side lost ( ie bottled it ) the league on the final day away to Motherwell after being a goal in front , I was absolutely gutted . Afterwards , with time to reflect , I realised that any team who have the title in their grasp and fail to see it out , especially being a goal up , and the bottle it , deserve all they get . Rangers only needed a draw to all but clinch the treble in 1979 at Celtic Park . They were one up at half time and after the break Celtic had a man sent off . Ten man Celtic went onto win 4-2 and win the league . Rangers bottled it and got what they deserved that night - nothing !
You are so right! It's somewhat forgotton that my team Dundee had a chance of getting into Europe and as such, went for it. In the end, Hearts were found wanting and the better team won the league.
I will never forgot wat Scott mcdonald did that day Motherwell were mid table and he s supposed to be a Celtic fan and he costs us the title hope celts fans feel the same as me about the twat
