This game has many elements of Banished too. Not enough to declare it a clone by any means, but survival city building is one of my favorite sub-genres and ripe for Strategy & Tactics level analysis.
I still love/play Banished and I always start the xroads way you taught us! I want this game but kind of afraid my pc won't handle it .I can play older games like sims ect but the new ones won't run on it :(
That is correct. The reason I don't go for tents heavily is for several reasons: 1. Children are more of a burden than a benefit to a colony during the childhood phase. While they will eventually grow up to be productive adults, they are a strain early on. Having lots of children early on can hurt your settlement. They consume food and water like adults and put an extra burden on your medical tent when disasters strike. 2. Construction resources are at a premium in the super early game. The more resources spent on housing, the fewer you have to get all your food and production buildings up and running. The 6 person shelters are more resource efficient than the tents. The only reason I built a tent was that it allows you to house your whole 2nd wave of new colonists without having to build a 3rd shelter (which would be too much) 3. You ultimately want to get all of your colonists out of tents/shelters and into higher class living quarters once you research them. So the fact that people are living in low-fertility emergency shelters is temporary. When you transition to these, you can get them into dwellings that are much more conducive to having children and you can more easily handle the resource demands of children as your colony will be more established at that point. I'm still running tests on which is a better value: Shanties or Tenements but that'll be a topic for a future Strategy & Tactics video.
Thank you for the response and information. I will keep this in mind. Ps I’m a fan of yours from two point hospital 😇Cnt wait to see more content from this game.
I didn't realize something to actually look at your video that you could make your specialist work on the buildings I'm already 100 Days Inn I started over so many deaths could have been preventable LOL I know I'm a Noob I'm sorry
Hah, this style of vid takes me back to the old Banished days :D

Dawn of man is also a good game. Nothing compared to The aftermath though
Very helpful video. Thanks.
How do u have specialists before u shoot the flare?
Is there any drawback to holding out calling for colonists?
I end to avoid the using the water pumping station as it takes a worker
And most importantly they still work in heat waves
Tents will also make colonists more comfortable to mate and have babies.

Never put your camp next to the gate. Lol. Only guard towers. Also, there is an overlay for soil fertility. 🤦♂️
Thanks bubba
You sound Canadian ;-)
First time I've heard that. I was originally born and raised in NJ, though I don't think my NJ accent is that heavy either.
Seriously with all of today's technology they bring us this crap. I might as well play sims
