@@JosueRodriguez08 Not really. This image has the vintage vibe of film due to the imperfections but not noise because it was shot during the day. It has chromatic aberrations, pleasing lack of sharpness due to the lens...the color grading is good.
@@lorenzocorro1517 crazy how the most film-like digital camera happens to be a 10 year old $200 mirrorless. Has anyone done a breakdown of why the EOSM with the raw hack looks like this? It has to be more than just the raw...
Marvelous! I’m also a Chicagoan (and I used to work at Tribune Tower) and you made my heart skip a beat. You’ve certainly achieved a great filmic look. I’m a vintage lens fan too, and have found the same as you - it does a lot to kill the digital crispness that gives the game away. I’m also shooting on the EOS M, but only recently have been experimenting with the RAW modes - and it’s incredible. I haven’t done the tests tho to see how the internal pseudo 4K shooting fares against shooting at 2.5K and uprezzing (sp?) that. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to what’s next!
Very thankful for your video. I have a Canon EOS M and I didn’t know the camera can shoot the same video as this. If I use Magic Lantern, will I be able to have the same output from the camera? Thank you very much.
Hey! How did you manage to get no Moire or Aliasing!? Colours are of course gorgeous with this camera and you obviously now what you are doing. Thanks for sharing the footage!
First step is proper exposure and focus while filming, the vintage lenses also help. I used MLV App only for white balance and highlight recovery. The LuTs used were made by Obsidian Visuals and added in FCPX.
@@TheMintHippoTroupe thanks. What color profile did you use in mlv and how did you restore the highlights? I currently export to cinemadng and do all the subsequent correction in davinci, but I like your result better, so I want to learn more and try it out
@@AlexeyKadushkin Thats funny because I am always envious of Davinci users. No fancy color profile, this is just rec709. There is a highlight recover slider in MLVApp, I do not think that highlight recovery exports with DNG. I believe 90% of the color here is from the location, vintage lenses, ND filter, and proper exposure in camera. The LUT only minimally brought out the blues more. If you are not already a member of the Eos M facebook group I highly recommend joining. That is where I learn the most.
Hey I love your content. It made me actually get a EOS M. I just having trouble with magic lantern and want to know what version of it did you install?
So much noise in the dark shadows. Pretty awesome what the EOS M can do, but it certainly has its limits when you watch the footage. Very nice footage, regardless.
Yes it is an interesting vintage lens in the M42 mount, I have no good information on it. I used an adapter to convert it from M42 to EF and was able to mount it on my EOS M.
Curious to know how much throw-away shots you had due to white dots or other magic lantern issues? I saw some older videos explaining the downsides, and i'm wondering how the new firmware stacks up... I'd really love to try this setup
No throw away shots due to dots or dropped frames. The 5k frtp mode used here is extremely stable and probably more so now with updates. Usually over exposing or shooting directly at the sun can cause recording to stop but there are simple work arounds to this.
I do not take stills, but I have seen amazing still examples from the M on the EOS M facebook group. It is worth exploring for sure. Its compact size can be a great advantage.
Theoretically unlimited raw recording. It mostly depends on recording mode and camera settings. For example on this shoot strong direct sunlight could cause recording stop but it can be controlled.
@@Юра-и7х Ah, a LUT made by Obsidian was applied, it mainly boosted the blues in the water and sky, but without a solid original image out of camera to start this look could not be easily achieved.
My question is this why when people are doing a camera demo. They have to put on a PBS Mr. Rogers Neighborhood Piano? In my opinion it make the shots look boring..
Ah. The power of under-exposing by 1-2 steps. Beautiful work.
Looks like from late 90's movie. Great job!
This looks like it was shot on film. Amazing coming from that camera!
I had the exact same thoughts!
Add grain and that's it

@@jeffreyjbyron I also think it's because of the lens, the older lens had a lot of imperfections, leading to the aberrations.
Nice flares. You bring the 80s with all the modernities of today.
nice footage and beautiful city
Stunning video…these little eos m cameras are fantastic when using magic lantern.
Excellent video from this great little camera, love that vintage cinematic look and Canon colours, well done
my EOS-M has arrived....i forgot about my other cameras. The look, the feel, the mobility is awesome.
Great shots! Greetings from Warsaw.

I liked Chicago too, where are you now?

Needs more shallow DOF, if there's more than 6 inches in focus it's not cinematic...

Beautiful!
What the f*ck. This looks absolutely insane. Most of these shots look like they could come from a AAA movie. And that out of an EOS M..
Man, it looks very analog, like some kodak vision
I want this quality!
Amazing Job, man! What settings did you export the video in in your editing software? Cheers!

Is it all manual for recording these, all focus/exposure still working?
Some of these shots i couldnt tell if it was from an arri alexa

What aspect ratio is this?
2.35:1
The colors are lovely. It's too bad the footage is so soft. I live in Indianapolis, and Chicago is kind of my home away from home since it's so close.
No one is aiming for pure sharpness with an M on ML. That isn't the point.
you think it’d be possible to record onto an external sd?
Not easily, but theoretically if you can mod an SD card out to and SSD anything is possible. Try the EOS M facebook group
might be the lens, or if you used a filter, but that 4k looks like 720p honestly
That pretty cool :) It does seem to have a strong rolling shutter effect and low bitrate artifacts
Workflow please?
Nice but hurts the eyes when u shift the camera
It is not always fun to look at the world through a high-grade neutral-density filter.
