Not to be rude but Dutch troops ran/stood-down away in ex-Yugoslsavia... And I guess has not won any battle the last 100 years... So what is up with the sabre rattling? I think this is a very simple and incorrect representation of the facts. During that period, the Dutch government decided that Dutch troops could only carry out their observation tasks with light armament. From 25mm guns it all looked too aggressive, so they were not allowed to take it to Yugoslavia. The troops had no combat function, it was argued. then we got the events in Sebrenica. the UN did not want to provide air support to the Dutch. The Dutch Air Force carried out with F16 air strikes on Serbian tanks on its own initiative. That was then banned by the UN leadership. The Dutch troops were not equipped to neutralize Serbian tanks. When Dutch troops subsequently deployed to Afghanistan, the Netherlands learned a lesson from Sebrenica. In Afghanistan had its own combat helicopters and F16’s at its disposal. They also had heavy weapons such as 155mm howitzers and mortars. In Chora, the Dutch fought hundreds of Taliban fighters and won.
What did you expect from yugoslavia they werent allowed to go there with big arms so they only had small arms and had to go up against way more heavly armed people whit air power and tanks and when they asked for support it was denied they still safed 8000 people and they did win wars in the last 100 years and for there smal country they have pretty good army

So they were left to their own devices. DutchBat was kitted out for policing duties, not war duties. Their mandate was to keep the peace between two feuding groups of citizens in the city, not fighting an army armed to the teeth with tanks and artillery. When that army appeared, desperate calls were made for air support and reinforcements from allies. None were coming, NONE. I don't blame any of the Dutchies for returning home, even though the result was a tragic act of genocide.

F16 is going to be replaced by F35. It is an old plane. Denmark has sold few of the F16 planes he has to Argentine and the rest was sent to Ukraine.
