'I wouldn't rule out anything': Kaja Kallas on Nato fighting Russia in Ukraine

- Estonia Prime Minister Kaja Kallas is one of Ukraine's biggest allies - and says Nato needs to do more against the threat of Russia.
[Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe]
Estonia is also one of Nato's biggest spenders. The country borders Russia and could be one of the first countries if Putin decided to invade.

Lots of people nowadays seem to live in la-la-land. It is depressing.
The Kremlin elite quickly figured that fear anti-western rhetoric can help control Russian population. War became part of life.
The western world lives in la-la-land because it feels defeated. So it looks up to Kallas to lead them. That is the depth of the defeat.
Blackrock politics is a mess

About that "we should not poking a bear" narration from some Western politicians. They don't seem to understand that this bear is not aggressive because he's afraid, he'a aggressive be he's HUNGRY. You're poking him by smelling good, and he knows you're around.
@@mats8375 wrong Metapher for a pure criminal and tschekist.

@@Wolfvain-qs5su In some cases in the past yes. Yet not in this one, here the agressor is Putins Russia invading Ukrain. So next time when the US would invade a nation, i am all with you. This now is not that time.
@Wolfvain-qs5su
Was Saddam showing weakness by annexing Kuwait and refusing to leave?
Did the Germans show weakness by machine gunning tens of thousands of British and American troops when they stormed Normandy beach to liberate France from fascism?
Do you remember after Iraq and Libya, Obama said he wouldn't send troops to Syria unless Assadd used chemical weapons. Then Assadd used chemical weapons and the US didn't intervene. Is that what you prefer? Dictators dropping mustard gas on thousands of men, women, and children?
We get blamed if we do and we get blamed if we don't.
@@kinngrimm so if I warn you about something and you do it anyway and I give you a slap on the wrist, I’m the aggressor?
She is right , this is 1938 , Putin got only weakness when he took Crimea from Ukraine , like Hitler , that only spured him on for the next land grab . He thinks ,and is just as evil as Hitler. All wars are started by a perception of weakness , Argentina did not think the british could retake the Falklands , they thought that was impossible , Putin did think it would be over in a week , and he would visit Kyiv like Hitler visited Paris.
She was put on the Russia most wanted list as only western leader. That means she is doing well.

Exactly. Russian trolls are pissed at Poland's FM as well and it only proves he is doing great job
What is the great job she is doing ? Just yapping like a tiny dog breed. If Estonia misbehaves with the bear, she will find the bear will claw Estonia, and all of NATO won't come to the rescue - because they would be afraid to be clawed themselves.

The degree to which countries recognise the threat of Russia tends to correspond with how close they actually are to Russia. Appeasement is generally discussed by those with no experience.

That’s a fair point but when these small countries that are being bullied by Russia join NATO and they want all the western nations to join in their defence, then citizens of western nations have a right to express concern about hostile rhetoric towards Russia.

Kallas is one of the most stupid leaders in Europe. She has called for breaking up Russia into a thousand pieces, exactly proving one of Vladimir Putin's main points: not content with breaking up the Soviet Union in 1991, USA/NATO wants to break up and destroy Russia. Kallas heads a micro-nation of 1.3 million people and wants to wage all-out war against Russia, a nation of 144 million with a strong military and extensive natural resources. You don't need to be particularly pro-Russian or pro-Putin to realise that she is one of the dumbest and most incompetent "leaders" in Europe. If you want to start WW3 with Russia, and destroy Europe once and for all (after the horrible experiences of WW1 and WW2), then by all means, support this stupid woman that Estonians are unlucky to have.0

Bravo Kaja Kallas, it is a shame that many of the allies have so much use escalation as their reason to delay or hold back support for Ukraine. Ukraine was promised security for disarming their Nuclear arsenal and this security has been sadly lacking. I hope the US wake up before it is to late to stop WW3.
MAGA republics has no memory when it comes to Americas role and responsibility. Ukraine lost ground, troops an civilian lives due to MAGA Johnsons following traitor Trumps orders. So much for US alies
Excuse me, I think POTUS who is shadowed 24/7 with a Pentagon Officer who holds the 'Football', literally the 'red button' which can start WWIII, knows more what he is doing then you do. Ukraine never could have survived as a nuclear power, Putin would have taken them out a long time ago with that as a Casus Belli, not to mention they didn't have the launch codes or ability to maintain or upgrade them. The fault is two fold, neither the West nor Ukraine (yes Ukraine!) prepared for this full invasion after 2014. Ukraine is a conventional arms building country, but their MOD wasn't buying any. All their tank production went overseas.
And yes escalation is a serious issue that I think the leadership has a better handle on then anybody on the internet, so it makes no sense for you to on the one hand say 'just give them ', and on the other hand talk about WWIII. Final comment about giving them 'whatever it takes', you know they didn't use all the arms that were supplied for the spring counter offensive. Their army is still operating under Soviet doctrine, which is small squad based. That's why the Bradley is so effective. The US advised a major effort to push to Crimea but they didn't do it, instead fiddled around and then just sent out squads, which inevitably led to this attritional war.
Ukraine never had a nuclear arsenal. It was russian. Same like US nuclear weapons in Europe.
@AndrePepink
False equivalency. US has agreements and personell to maintain the few remaining nuclear weapons oficcially owned and controlled by Pentagon. Ukraine actually posessed nuclear systems on their own for around 4 years and had capabilities and personell to use them. They were left in Ukraine when Soviet army returned to Russia, and reason Ukrainians had competence to use them is because in largest part it was Ukrainian engineers who not only designed and maintained ICBM/naval nuclear systems, but actually produced them before.
Idk what you try to say, but if Russia could have taken them in 1990-1992 without a blip, why would they sit down with US and UK top diplomats and drafted Budapest memorandum in exchange? The Belarus and Kazakhstan didn't have to do that despite also possesing USSR nukes at the time.
I'll tell you the main reason Ukraine happily agreed: they were in unprecedented financial crisis with record inflation, which made maintenance of the aged ICBMs an untenable nightmare. That and promises of safeguarding the country's security by 3 parties worked.. untill they didn't. If you wanted to make a point about Budapest Memorandum being weak in international law, you could have come up with something less rashist to prove that point. And mine is: Ukraine were tricked and betrayed by more than just Russia.
@@AndrePepinkUkraine did have nuclear weapons, the USSR weapons after the collapse of the USSR were split equally between members of USSR.
Ukraine surrendered it's share of Nuclear weapons so that Russia could have the USSR seat in UN security council with power of veto.
It´s a tragedy as well as a big failure of western European societies, that we were not able to transfer a feeling of safety and our policy of detente to the east but instead were infected with their russophobic revanchism, that to shed seems a low hanging fruit for leaders in the Baltic or in Poland.
Kaja Kallas is the leader of approximately 1,5 million people and we let her behave as if she was of any importance for Europe. Had any right to talk in the name of Europe and its 400 million people.

Not going to happen. Estonia has been invaded before and Estonians understand what threatens them. Travel from Tallinn eastwards and the country changes from native Estonians to Russians. The fact that the river crossing over the Narva to Russia has a castle at each end of the bridge tells you something about history.
Most Americans are completely unaware of the world outside the USA. Politics in the US involve a party that wants permanent minority rule, even if achieved by questionable means, huge political polarization often based on ignorance or lies, meaningless fearmongering, unnecessary religious interference, pointless arguments on marginal topics, and politics by performance on social media as a replacement for reality. She should either remain as Estonia PM, which btw I think she is amazing for that job, or as the defence advisory member of Ursula von der Leyen. She is NOT A DIPLOMAT
Estonia has a smaller population than many cities in Europe. She is essentially a mayor. A bad one at it.
Putin is anything but peaceful and never cared for diplomacy so stop blaming Russia's past victims for poining this
She simply understand russia and russians. And russians understand only brute force and will deceive you with lies, then attack, like in 24th of February.
Unless you are one of those geniuses that think russia was provoked.
She is such a cool and wise person ❤ I wish all politicians were like her...
Other politicians are like her but slightly more competent. Not by much
Respect from northern neighbour, Finland.
please don't respect - these guys are threatening Russia around its borders in order to smash russia into pieces and then have total global control (which they are losing at the moment) - so they started this threatening via Ukraine over 10 years ago already (taking down the government in Kiev, bringing the weapons in, killing 11 000 people in eastern part, including ca 1000 children) to which Russia had to react to (as its russians in Ukraine + they are bringing long-range missiles, nuclear at their border - imagine Russia bringing these weapons at the US border - it would be crazy) -
so now these western guys (which also guide Kallas) have killed over half a million ukrainian people by weaponizing them against RU. Estonia and Finland are just another places to move terrorizing weapons into, in order to over-extend (as they call it) Russia.
And I'm living in Estonia. Ethnic estonian. They are ruining us here atm with their weapons. It's idiotic to detsroy Russia, this cannot be done , so they just kill people and earn money for military industry in US.
The point is, of course, that people like Kaja KNOW what it's like to live under what is effectively Russian rule. What rational person would want that for his/her country - and what would such a person NOT do to prevent it? Snowflakes are no deterrent to the Russians!
Is legend that Adolf Hitler descendant is living in Baltic State.
Crazy dangerous
Kaja Kallas (then): I'm a feminist!
Kaja Kallas (now): Men need compulsory conscription, and women its voluntary.
Because biologically, women are more crucial for survival than men are.
It is a democratic alliance. So does that mean that individual countries think they can opt out of supporting another NATO country under attack ?
Are there few cases in the world history when alliances fell apart under the influence of various internal and external factors, including corrupt leadership?
I am an American and I wish she was the next US president.
They only conscript men by mandate? That sounds pretty discriminatory? Does that align with western values?
Since when does the West care about rules?
Rules for thee, but not for me.
Western countries don't go around invading there neighbours trying to annex territory like 1930s dictators though do they.
What would have happend if the UKraine had remained politically neutral and not moved to break with the post WW2 agreement to maintain aterritorial buffer between Russia and Nato in Europe. Would Russia have invaded the Ukraine at all?
it only depends on how weak Ukraine would be under such circumstances. The weaker it was, the faster the invasion would have happened.
Russia always intended to invade Ukraine who wanted to be independent and live their lives away from a terrorist state .They think Ukraine is part of Russia which it is not. Putler made a big mistake invading Ukraine thought it would be easy how deluded this crazy despot is
Yes.
What you're saying is that the existence of police is the reason why criminals exist.
if that is the case, why did nt Russia invade as soon as Putin won his second tem ?
did she say sometimes that NATO should divide Russia in several little countries to better exploit their ressources?
Ain't that the truth, if Europe goes down then the US goes down. Hopefully even Trump can see that!!

Estonia is a completely insignificant country. We, Europeans, don't want to be dominated by politicians from this country.
It is EU and Nato member and they know Russia better than most ever will. They are no less important no matter what you say.
@@Blanka1100 The structure of the EU is not democratic, that is the fundamental problem.
Democracy means one person one vote. And not one state one vote.
The people for the main posts in the EU should be elected democratically.

What an incredible woman. She's bright, informed and able to express herself so well in English.
Her husband supplied Putin's police with tear gas to fight Russian opposition. It's a well known story in Russia
She is a war monger with no military forces at present in Estonia. Thinking her cruddy little country will sit back, not take casualties while the "big countries of NATO" come in and drive Russia from the Baltic. Unfortunately she is perfectly right
She, like so many Western leaders, talks about how Russians aren't able to take territory faster.
She, like those other Western leaders, didn't listen to Putin. The SMO is about demiliterization and denazification.
Russia wants a security agreement, not more land.
you have been reading too many comics mate

Wow! What a brilliant, well spoken, PM Estonia is blessed to have... I wish the same could be said about Canada.
