After you released parking brake you can disconnect the battery so emergency brake don’t come on and then you continue with 10mm to get it into neutral. It’s a lot easier vs trying to disconnect rear brakes on parking lot.
These button shift systems are unbelievably stupid. The buttons add nothing to the driving experience, it’s simply a more complicated, less intuitive “feature” that marketing and sales can harp on and convince people that it’s better…. Trucks and truck based SUVs should always have a column shifter! It’s just objectively better and easier to use. It’s out of the way, you know for sure when it’s in the gear you want, and it keeps the nannies from telling me when I can and can’t be in neutral!! If you must have a console shifter at least let it be mechanically connected to the trans… I swear, I’m in my 20’s and I feel like a 90 year old grandpa ranting about this stuff, but it’s getting ridiculous.
Having to do all this is bullshit, what ever happen to keeping it simple, I won’t tow these now unless I have a wheel lift and dolly tow truck, why didn’t they think to put in a simple shift release like on a Toyota or Honda I hate these new cars 😀
Had 6 guys, 2 cops, and a partredge without the pear tree standing in an intersection trying to push this car with no power... Sounds like a good lawsuit, teach these engineers to stop being completly useless 👍
These engineers need to be brought to Minnesota in January.. stripped to their underwear & told they must use their own design with nothing more than a pocket screwdriver.. get it in neutral without the emergency brake or without breaking any plastic in the cold...before they're allowed back inside where its warm.... see how fast they go back to a simple usable design...
Turn it on put in drive then neutral keeping foot on brake pedal the whole time, turn off vehicle, get out while having someone keep the pedal pressed or using a rod to jam the pedal down. Close door, remove pressure on brake pedal and stays in neutral. If you open the door the process will have to be done again.
There is a way easier way than this just disconnect it from the steering column and pull on the cable and it goes in the park neutral reverse whichever
There isn't a towtruck driver in the world that's going to go through all this to tow this thing. Wheel lift & dollies, skate's, or sign a damage waiver and drag . Gm is out of there minds come out here and do this stuff and then think about time vs cost .😡
Disconnecting the battery throws a "0" [off] to the CPU. Vehicle goes into park and also engages the brake. Disconnecting the battery is irrelevant; built-in module set-up to maintain this "safety feature." Solenoid in the transmission: forced into park when there is no power to solenoid.
They should’ve just kept the traditional column shifter
Man you're putting me to sleep getting to it
The way we towed ours out of the garage was easy. We just had to switch it from 4WD to 2WD and that made it possible to tow away.

Just disconnect the negative from the battery for 30 seconds. That will reset the system and it will turn on again.
Just did that on mine🎉
Not the first time RUclips has gotten something off the service drive and won’t be the last. Thanks!

I feel your pain. GM has a special tool but I made this up before the tour came out
Cause engineers are a holes 😂 They don’t think about us tow Ops when the vehicles need to be towed.
@@mnmmendes7261 what is the tool

I just got a call for one of these... I'm a flatbed and I ain't doing all this on an off ramp shoulder. Good job, GM engineers.
on the to next car im not doing all this respectfully
Thanks for you, this is work!

problem is when the vehicle can't be started.
Way more helpful than the tool who smokes way too much weed before work
Good to know, thank you so much
Don't think I want to put it on a lift to get to it - looking to just put it into Neutral
Yukon traveling at 70mph yukon shifts into Neutral and the battery is Dead ...! ...?
We just moved a wrecked one. 22 Elevation and we dragged it like the JUNK GM is.
for fuck sake gm im just trying to make an alignement here 😂

Gm has special tool for this . The solenoid is in the transmission , when there is no power to solenoid it forces it into park .
Would help if you weren't nodding off while making this video

This is too much work lol disconnect the battery and make sure the e brake is off.. done
