I truly believe that children who have peace and happiness in nature learn so much and delvelop much quicker than in a day care situation or a nanny. These two boys are going to have such empathy with nature, they are a step into a beautiful future.

I am a retired teacher and at the end of a long day in my garden I love nothing more than watching the Bushcraft section on utube. I have a large garden and I often think that I would love to dig a hole and make an underground bunker for my husband and I to come to and drink coffee and think up new things to do. I think a Bond James Bond room would be awesome

In October I just turned 48 and it literally warms my heart to see you guys teaching your boys how to garden and farm 25 years ago I was told that I cannot have any children so I'm okay with that now it kind of sucks but watching you and your family makes my day bright and I really want to thank you guys for sharing thank you so much I wish that I could have that❤❤❤👍❤

Do children have to be your biological children? There are children without good homes, which I think you could offer. I can see it in your state of mind. It can be permanent or just taking temporarily same kids with you, for example one weekend per month. Those support-families are much needed at least here in Finland. You may have a strong bond with them allso. Just think if that could be what you want. 😊 These boys we are watching here are truly cuties. And John&Tara are great supportive parents. It's easier to grow when you have parents (or someone else) who is believing in you. It's such a treasure.
I love how the boys are allowed to help out. Any painting that isn’t perfect will make you smile when he is older! Going down my basement stairs my two nephews, Mark and Joseph, wrote their names, ages, and dates. Mark was only with us until he was 22 ( motorcycle accident) , so now it is a memorial wall that will never be painted.

What I value most is the opportunity for disenfranchised parents in western countries to be able to learn from you just what they can accomplish with their children!! John and Tara, you are superb folks models. I have learned from you some things that I wish I had known while raising two daughters. They are accomplished and ages 49 and 44. But... it could have been better for us. Oh, well. We do our best 👌, right? Bravo to you, one and all. 🎉🎉🎉

NO NO NO - you need 2 windows in the hobbit house, One 🌙 and one ⭐️, with no glass
but some mosquito gauze stuck to the inside wall to prevent mould - that would be so beautiful🐸🐸

Love love how the hobbit house turned out.Yeah, maybe a little overhang on the front to protect from the rain,as you enter it, it would be a lovely finish. Also, a suggestion (if you don’t mind). Have you ever thought of doing GEOTHERMAL ENERGY? You are going to build basically from scratch, so wouldn’t that be worth it and feasible?

I love the tiles in front of the red door-they look lovely! A true family project-everyone helped and it looks terrific, so far. The shadows from the leaves look beautiful against the painted wall. It was so nice to see the boys helping you plant and prep the garden,

Those boys are learning so many life skills, but it all just seems like playtime! John and Tara, you are such wonderful examples for them of how to balance life: Work hard, but find enjoyment and fulfillment in the work. Then take a break and focus on enjoying family and the world around you. Take care of your physical, mental, and social health. So lovely!

I think it's very important to get the boys involved in planting, I did it years ago with my nieces and nephews and they all have green fingers in the garden. It's amazing for them to see the whole experience from seed the produce.👍❤

Wow the Hobbit house is fabulous and will look even more amazing when all the flowers etc grow on the roof. I think the under ground bunker sounds great, especially the wonderful views you will get from the bi-fold doors. The wobbly exterior adds to the hobbit house’s charm; however, the red door looks rough - literally. The threshold tiles and the decorative window are the cherry on top.

I love the underground room idea - I used to imagine having something like that when I was a child then the people next door had an underground Pool / Snooker room built. I never went in, but it fired my imagination. Oh, if only.
Isn't it great to get back to the soil? Crusoe seems totally at home with it and Sawyer is catching on. What you said about him blossoming into a person rings so true throughout this episode.

Well, you know that I think John is a creative genius; not only can he visualize, but he can then make the vision a beautiful reality. I love being at the beginning of a project and scratching my head trying to see John's vision, and then seeing it slowly come to life. The end result is always so much more than I had imagined! So, as crazy as the ideas may sound, I have total faith in the vision, and both of your skills in getting it done. Tara, you have a flair for decorating with those beautiful little details, like a bright red door, or Moroccan tiles, that transform the spaces John creates, making them all part of an incredible home in progress. You are a great team. And of course, we love watching the boys grow and change! Love to all!

🦋 I think the whole project sounds really cool, except when you mentioned the library, because I have a fairly decent library, the first thing that came to my mind was, it will be too damp to be a library.

I love that Hobbit house- it’s going to look fantastic with the plants all around it. If the plants are falling in front of the house then it could look like a magical entrance for the children.
The new entrance to new worlds- like the wardrobe in ‘The lion witch and the wardrobe’
When I saw John bite into that orange it was a "flashback" for me!! My family used to pick oranges off the tree, wash the skin, roll the orange around on a hard surface, bite a hole into the skin of the orange exposing the inside then enjoy all the juice by squeezing the orange with your hands...pure orange juice!!

I literally just said - put the boys in there for some loud, fun times while you enjoy quiet time in the house - and then you said the same thing!!! I think it’s a GREAT idea for the James Bond room and I wish I had one!!!

The underground house is brilliant. It uses the topography of the land that’s already there and unused. It creates a multi use space that will probably change purposes more than once as you and your family mature. Adult space for you and guests, play space in the rain while construction on big house is happening
, teenage boy space, adult children and grandchildren space. I can see it!

I say go for it, it’s so funny that you brought up the 007 house right after my husband said “what he should do now is build a bunker under the hermit house”, I couldn’t believe it!
