Funny story, I’m 70kg and fitted the 58t. I agree it might feel like it launches a little harder but that actually is short lived and over a 20 or 30m run into my jumps the bike actually is at a slower speed when I hit the jump, using the std sprocket I am at a faster speed over the same distance. I think it really depends on riders weight which sprocket to use. 52 might be a better compromise for someone my weight with the 58t it loses too much in the middle and top for my liking
Pretty sure you put that on backwards man. Might not actually make a difference, but it will be stronger with the braces facing the other direction due to the rotation of the motor.
Guys it is just increase starting speed, normal and max speed will decrease. It is physics. If you want to increase max speed you should take lower T disk on it.
I was wondering if someone was gonna comment...looks like it’s on backwards dude. Usually when anything is milled with a ‘swirl’, it goes w the rotation. I’m sure it works all the same.
My friend and I both buy the same stock Surron light b and his fastest then mine we both have 48 tooth sprocket’s why’s? Mine will do close 50 or better in a good days but his will do close to 60-70 miles per hour
better option IMO is to upgrade the controller. stock controller only does ~180 phase amps.... aftermarket ones can do well over 400, ie 200% stock torque rather than 120%, and smoother response to boot. Costs a bit more than a sprocket and chain though :P
I did exactly that...getting it next week. Just curious if you're running the stock chain and sprocket with yours or did you use something different? I was looking at this chain: D.I.D 420 NZ3 Super Non O-Ring Chain and also thinking about leaving the stock sprocket on.
Troy Muni Did you get the battery and controller? If so how is it going? I’ve run the 48T, 54T and the 58T sprockets. I was thinking about getting the 52T sprocket and the 72V battery and controller. Hopefully that would give me more torque than I have now with the 58T and also higher top speed.
im curious if the speed limiter will still limit it to 45kmh? that would be cool cuz a hidden speed unlimiter switch would make a whole lotta more sense that way if it was illegal from the getgo i'd just stick to a switch and maybe a 52T
@@JPTulo if the speed is calculated by engine rpm then bigger gear = less speed it will show 45kph but actually go slower than that i assume i was thinking that it might calculate speed based on a sensor near the wheel but since thats not the case better stick to a smaller sprocket maybe
@@waldhelm4567 You’ve got the right idea, but backwards. A bigger wheel sprocket will give you a slower top speed. A smaller sprocket will give you slightly more top speed despite the speed limiter. You can also temporarily bypass the speed limiter with a series of brake sensor or kickstand sensor commands. Or permanently bypass the limiter by clipping the governor wire.
@@waldhelm4567 Never mind, I see you edited your post. You’ve got the right idea. You can either have more torque, or more speed from gearing, you can’t have both.

Trust me, it's a great purchase for your surron.

hi, was wondering if you ever got that bac8000 72v installed and how it's working out with that chain? My bac8000 kit and battery are being delivered next week, so i've been looking at sprocket and chain upgrades as well. Is that chain still the best one available for dual sport riders?
@@troymuni6120 Not yet, I'll hopefully have it by the end of next month. Can't wait though 😉. Yes, I use and almost every other mx rider use that DiD chain I sent you the link for. That's not really how it works but yeah.. you can still do 45mph with the stock 48T sprocket or even the 52T but not the 58T or 64T which is overkill. You need to have a BAC 4000 and a Litespeed 72V battery for such speeds though. It won't go faster than 50mph on the stock battery with an upgraded controller like the BAC 4000 or 8000. Fail, you're wrong with a taller rear sprocket it's less strain on the system and you get more efficiency and more torque less top speed which equals more runtime. It's not the same as cruise control on an IC engine.
