- Syracuse Football has a "not impossible" chance at making the 2024 College Football Playoff, which will be 12 teams next season. The Orange will have two bye weeks to get its studs healthy in the event of injury, Fran Brown's squad also has the easiest schedule, according to ESPN. The defining stretch for Kyle McCord, Oronde Gadsden, and company will come from early October to mid November (@UNLV, @NC State, BYE, @Pitt, Virginia Tech, @Boston College, and @California).

I have a sneaky suspicion that Fran Brown is going to be a really good coach. I think the team has talent at a lot of different positions on both sides of the ball. I think the key to whether SU could actually make the playoffs is to watch McCord early. If he gets the ball off really quick and is decently accurate then lookout. It takes a lot of pressure off the O-line to be super and cuts way back on injury, especially to McCord. I really liked Shrader, but he was always running all over the place, and was practically inviting injury. SU has never had a super quick, accurate passer. Even McNabb used his legs a lot...

I hope Fran is good coach. He's certainly a good recruiter. McCord is going to have to play pretty close to Heisman level for the Cuse to make the playoff. At the very least, he'll be an improvement over Shrader

My son in law who is very sports minded told me that even if SU were to finish 11 -1 they would not be one of the 12 teams to make the playoff!
Only scenario I see that happening is if Cuse then gets destroyed in the ACC Championship. 11 wins and they're basically a lock to be in

Syracuse can't just win the games it's expected to win because they'll be penalized for their schedule in CFP discussions.
