    Absolutely great! Lorepedia has quickly become my go to source for Forgotten Realms lore. From research to storytelling to delivery. This channel has the real deep look into the lore.

    The quality of this work is amazing. I'm afraid to ask how many hours went into it? The most remarkable thing to me was how smooth it ran together for the entire hour and a half.

      Thanks so much!
      Every episode seems to be more elaborate and more work but generally speaking it takes me about 24 hours per episode. The excellent forgotten realms wiki has already compiled most of the research, otherwise that would probably add another 12 hours (in this case they were a bit light on Kraken stuff, so I did some outside research for that and a few other things). Making the images varies, but it takes a lot of fiddling to get some good visuals and then I usually upscale them. Editing is where I really cut corners, I should make the visual stuff match up better and learn how to do something more interesting than pan and zoom, but by the time I am at the editing stage I am exhausted and just want the video done lol.

    I can't even imagine the amount of time this research takes. Do you actually read books in their entirety to get this information?

    • @Lorepaedia
      @Lorepaedia  4 месяца назад

      The scripts usually take about 3-4 days. The vast bulk of the information comes from the amazing Forgotten Realms Wiki, I should really credit them in every video. Sometimes they are a bit light on information, as an example, for this one there isn't much on Krakens so I had to do dig up some older supplemental stuff. Thanks so much for your kind comments, let me know if you have a topic you want me to cover!

      @@Lorepaedia actually, if you come across race or location specific curse words in your research, I'd appreciate you compiling them and posting them somewhere! Outside of the gates of firestorm peak there isn't enough hard lore even from 2e to 5e including all the spelljammer stuff and other references to far space as the entire concept is its a universe beyond our understanding and we don't even know how to actually access far space and the rare times you actually deal with an entity of far space and you can perceive it madness is usually on the cards for you or catatonic states for a few hours its like hp lovecraft mythos on crack

    What are air holes doing on the underside? They are obviously not for locomotion due to where they are placed, and air holes for breathing in marine animals are on the top surface. Shape of the fins is wrong for marine locomotion as well, its like the artist thought the forward swept wings of certain experimental aircraft looked cool so lets go with that, not realising the hydrodynamics suck. I can live with the obviously fantastical sea beings, but when artists try to look realistic yet manage to get pretty much everything wrong it bugs me....
    And yes, I do over think things like that. Its hard for me not to, I am a Marine/Evolutionary Ecologist by trade. Those forward swept fins would create more drag than you can shake a stick at, the downward facing air holes means the animal has to flip up on its back to breathe (there is a REASON the nostrils of Cetaceans (whales) are on their backs).
    Don't even get me started on placement of the eyes in relation to the mouth as from this angle it looks like the eyes are on the top. Look at where a sharks eyes are for example. At least the pits around the mouth might make some sense as they could feasibly be similar to the ampullae of Lorenzini, the organs in sharks that sense the electromagnetic field of their prey. Hammerhead Sharks head are shaped like that because the hammer is where all those organs are (they are principally bottom feeders though will take pelagic prey if given the opportunity).
