There is actually a ton of lore on Sembia, way more than I assumed. However, it's scattered all over the place, rather than one cohesive story. In addition, there really isn't much magical-wagical stuff going on there from what I could find, and it's mostly humans.

Any chance you can separate it into different categories (cities or eras)? For example, I’d like to revisit the lore of Yhaunn which starts at 22:53 as a category. Would be easier than finding it by memory 😅

@@onyxharbinger I started timestamping topics for the newer videos. I might go back and do it for my old ones at some point. I agree it was dumb not to include when I had the notes, thanks for the feedback. 😅

if you think Sembia is a land of merchants try Amn

Yeah honestly, I wish there was a bit more to distinguish Amn and Sembia in the lore. There's too many "collections of city states run by merchant oligarchies" in Faerun imo.

I guess the one difference is the Sembians are depicted as something close to lawful evil. They LOVE laws, but they will use every loophole and legality to their selfish advantage. Not terribly different than Amn in practice, but it's something.

The udumbral calax actually existed in the shadow plane for years after kesson rel failed at something.

@@taylorbullard2118 Not quite, the shadow blight over Sembia was more like a convergence than Sembia falling completely into the Shadowfel. Besides, deuce is not the only one left of his house.

@mikewaterfield3599 That's correct. The calyx is kessons temple prison in the shadow fell . Its fleshed out in one of the 3.5 books, ultimate villians maybe

@@taylorbullard2118 All that came after 3rd edition is blasphemous non cannon. That was when WotC more or less purged the rest of the TSR crowd which is how we got things like 4th Ed and the spell plague. There is a reason so little lore has been written since then and 98% of what has been made is retooling. Like the bizarre cultural changes to dragons, making kobolds “cute”, desperately trying to tame Drow, and my personal favorite, trying to pretend orcs are peaceful immigrants being oppressed instead of the creation of a literal god of rape and pillage.

@mikewaterfield3599 the orc thing is a fing joke. So is the drow stuff. Even piazo is getting into the "rated pg"fying with the stuff about slavery, although they did it in a much better way imo.
