- The Official Video for All Together Now by The Farm
Inspired by the Christmas Day football match in No Man's Land during the First World War, All Together Now was the the Farm's biggest UK single hitting number 4 in December 1990. It also reached the top 20 in Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany (where it made number 5).
Watch out for a cameo from fellow Liverpool legend Pete Wylie (he also sings backing vocals on the track) at the end of the video.
The video has been remastered to HD to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of this iconic record. Its parent album Spartacus has reached the same milestone and we are marking the occasion with a new expanded digital version of the LP entitled "Spartacus 30".

Lyrics:
Remember boy that your forefather's died
Lost in millions for a country's pride
But they never mention the trenches of Belgium
When they stopped fighting and they were one
A spirit stronger than war was at work that night
December 1914 cold, clear and bright
Countries' borders were right out of sight
When they joined together and decided not to fight
All together now
All together now
All together now, in no man's land
The same old story again
All those tears shed in vain
Nothing learned and nothing gained
Only hope remains
All together now
All together now
All together now
In no man's land
The boys had their say they said no
Stop the slaughter let's go home, let's go, let's go

Will never forget being on holiday in Corfu. A group of Brits & Germans in a taverna one night, all singing our hearts out to this. An amazing repeat of the meaning behind the song.

Absolutely.
The trenches of Belgium, thanks for everything lads
Absolutely mate, RIP to our brave boys 😞😢🌹🌺
Died in vain though, that's the point of the song Only hope remains
No its about they stuck together end of
Sad slaughter for the gain of half a mile. Only to be pushed back again. Crazy when you look at it. RIP.
The song is actually about Christmas when the germans and Allies walked into no mans land and exchanged gifts. Chicolate, cigarettes and even a game of football started up. Hands were shaken and everyone had tobacco shared. Few hours later it was back to normal again.
Late 90's, smokey pubs, great atmosphere, heading off to a club, a newly turned 18 year old. The future seemed so bright back then.
I love this song.
Hit the nail on the head mate
👏👏👏👏❤️
You've hit the nail on the head there mate. I was 18 years old back in 1997. Life was so simple. I had the world at my feet. My weekend started on a Thursday night and ended in the early hours of Tuesday mornings. I miss those days. Sadly I'm saying goodbye to far too many family and friends now. Music is such a gift. It takes us back in time.

Beautiful song about humanity, respect to those men who just wanted a normal life
My grandad lost 4 brothers in ww2 and he was so gutted he was one of two who survived. He became a caretaker of a school for 30 years in thronaby near Middlesbrough nd he was my hero! So many like hime lets not let them become history
What a story! My respects for your grandfather.
Not forgotten while 1 remembers........like my dad, dies on his 93rd birthday, joined up at 16 to fight Germany... my dad my hero, ill never be even half what he was. see ya dad, keep on trucking
We will never forget those brave soldiers. God bless .them total respect
Sadly, in 2020 if the snowflakes have their way, the teachings of WWII will stop in the UK schools. My Nan lost her brother in the war, luckily Granddad came home or I wouldn't be here. Lest we forget.

One of the best ever and emotional songs about Christmas Day, yet it gets completely overlooked as a Christmas song, which is criminal.
Wonderful song.
its to nationalistic thats why brings the british together the progressive left would try to cancel it.
Respect to your elders. Thanks to them you have this world.
True .
I feel I have to post on this
No who is watching 2020 or anything
I grew up in Glasgow and started work in 1981 and had the privilege of working with some of these lads as a 16 year old
Not only is it one of my favourite songs , buy my god the video is so so accurate
Most of those boys were quiet unassuming and went about their life’s and jobs
not bragging or trying to sound heroic .
These boys from Glasgow, Liverpool, Cardiff ,Manchester,Newcastle, Belfast, Leeds , London and from all our cities , towns and villages all all over the
UK Seen things and had to do things that no one should have to , standing up to evil and defending our democracy
God bless each and everyone of those boys
May the REST IN PEACE 🙏🙏🙏🙏🇬🇧🇬🇧
And yes our democracy isn’t perfect
But because of these lads , you have the right to peaceful protest ( the alternative if they didn’t fight for our country, would have been horrendous 😔😔)
Please please remember them and remember their sacrifices
Instead of urinating on or defacing monuments to them
😔😔😔😔😔😔😔
This country is ours....it's a total disgrace what is happening and has to be stopped
Well said
Bless them all🙋true heroes 👍
100% with you ste Lancs u.k
So true mate. Each and every one of them are legends and true heroes. Most youngsters of today make me puke. They don't have a clue or care what those brave men went through. They are not fit to clean there boots. Those brave men and women are the very few things left that still make me proud of this once great country.
I love the song
It is a incredible song that somehow represents a fusion between the 80s and 90s. Great work of The Farm....the british music, we must admit, is unsurpassed.

Christ on a bike, takes me back to the happy days when this was released. I still find the entire song and video moving. Must be getting old 😊
Today is July the 16 rh 2023 i am listening to this Wonderful The Farm song
All together now in memory of all the mostly Working class nen who died in all wars i always cry when i hear this Wonderful song from a 60 years old Irishman fan
Always the working class sent to their slaughter by posh rulers.this goes out to all those working class men that gave their lives.
@@timthegallant Wasn't only the working class. It was everyone and anyone who had a talent eg French or German language. They were very quickly trained then dropped into Europe to work with resistance which really sunk their life expectancy. It wasn't a class war, it was a war for survival. Freedom wouldn't have survived without them. Every aspect of British life came forward and answered that call without complaining about where they came from. Looking at the alternative at the time it would have been doomsday if the most aggresive and powerful war machine ever seen who had their own ideas about class got inside Britain.
Roy Keane reminded me of this classic just now on stick to football.
This song reminds me of my childhood growing up in the 90s. Love it
Same... Great times
Me too mate, and man do I miss those days 😔
Me too
The world was so much better back then right
I agree with you 👏👏👏👏
I love this video. It reminds me of my parents generation who have sadly passed on. Good down to earth working class people.
And how does it make you feel, realizing that they toiled and slaved away to make someone else richer who didn't do nearly as much as they did?

This song so reminds me of old Britain and the generation that held us all together that mostly are sadly no longer with us little did they know when they made this song 28 years ago what a state our country would be in now so sad 😔
They helped make it.
Our country isn't in a sad state ,look around the world ,we ant that bad off
So so true 👍
Agree. Look at the state of this country now to what it once was.neighbors looked out for each other unlike today where your lucky to even get a good morning from them.as a kid enjoying school and not afraid of getting stabbed up.
Yes this is true, all those dead soldiers be turning in their graves at how the racist scum are once again feeling enabled.
I absolutely adore this song. Not just for the memories but what it stands for. As a person said below this is probably the best song of that era and even now brings the hairs on my neck to attention.
Yes get goosebumps when I hear it absolute class.
Agree totally with you ❤
I miss the 90s.great decade for music❤
I hope people realise we are going to be All together pretty soon. Hold on brothers and sisters, the ride is bumpy, you gotta set appart people who are not to you side if you wanna survive. Shield your kids even if it means holding your influence on them. Bad is bad.

This song reminds me of the day I took my mother and recently departed father to Belgium, and we spent a day visiting the war cemeteries, British, Commonwealth and German, around Ieper (Ypres) before going into the town to witness the last post ceremony at the Menin Gate, which is a truly moving experience which everyone should witness.

This was a wonderful and more innocent time to be alive, there was a real sense of togetherness in the 90's and people cared more about each other and were happy to share- unfortunately we now live in a time where nobody gives a damn about anybody else but their greedy narcissistic selves, holy shit how people have drastically changed for the worse in such a short amount of time.
Amen to that...

Remember this song fondly and when it came out it there were still a good few folk still around from the great war walking among us, now the folk from the second world war are fading away quickly. Its good that the Farm stuck to their roots and gave a nod to previous generations. Privileged to be that generation that still has a foot in the past but wants a better future despite this criminal tory government. My great grand uncle received a VC in 1916 prior to the bloodbath Somme offensive, wondered what he would have made of this song, sadly died in 72, well that's smoking for you.

Speckled doves by any chance? 🤗🤗🤗
Damn I wish I could find some good xtc again I started going to rave parties in Chicago in 1995. I started DJing only a few months after that. Then I started producing my own music as well, In 1996. Chicago rave parties were amazing. I wish I had a time machine to go back in time.
¿Como no vamos a tener nostalgia con tan tremendas canciones como esta?
The best thing about 'All Together Now' is that it was released when many Great War survivors were still with us. Never forgotten.
Fantastic song, sad and emotional
Love music love life 😊
The core harmony is from Pachelbel's Canon in D, no wonder our heartbeats naturally respond to it😍😍😍. Masterpieces are usually dashing and smashingly brilliant
I would never guessed !
Yup, it's the kind of tune to inspire you to buy the album, and then realise it's the only good tune on it, and then realise that's because it wasn't theirs. Most people who remember this band and the early 90s would struggle to remember any other songs by them.
This is an excellent 90's Pop House song!

A true classic.
Good song!!!!!! Good times !!!
One of my all time favourites.
Song well before it's time, yet shows the longing through all times
I remember listening to this song back in my childhood (beginning of the 90's); it was playing constatly on the Brazilian radio then. As a child, I was used to singing along (wrongly, of course) dancing with my friends. Now, mature and knowing the story behind this song, it sounds incredibly powerful!
Now I sing along correctly ;)
One o' the masterpieces in my opinion....MADCHESTER yeah...... Greetings from 🇩🇪
God what a song !! Brings back so many memories still listening to it in the car in 2021 such a classic British song love it ❤️❤️
