    I made my little granddaughter a beautiful dress in this fabric and it became her best go to dress because she loved the soft comfort of the fabric. First time I’d ever worked with this fabric and I really enjoyed working with it. About to make more dresses for her this year as she’s outgrown her other dress. ❤❤

    Thank you! You're a great educator. I wish I could come and work in the shop and soak up all your knowledge first-hand - dream job. (Commute of 4500 miles might be a bit much, though.) 😁❤🇨🇦

    Love Double gauze fabrics, but still struggling with what to do when the pattern asks for interfacing (f.e. a waistband)... does the structure of the fabric reappear with washing? Is block fusing prefered?

    Hi Lauren, I love your videos and your accent! I tried several Cielo tops with cotton gauze and they all stretched out. Not sure what I did wrong.

      Hi Susan,
      it could be that if you pre washed it and the fabric contracted as part of that prewash, but then you didn't iron it out that much before cutting out and sewing it up....then as you wear that garment the heat from your body relaxes the fabric and it stretches out...?

    I've just sewn up some PJs in this material and my stitches are snapping all over the place. Is it possible my stitch length was too short? What about thread tension? I'm a total novice so all tips are appreciated.

    • @LaurenGuthrieGhani
      @LaurenGuthrieGhani  2 года назад

      hello Maddie, its hard to say for sure without having a look at the stitches. Normally shorter stitches can make seams even stronger so. A standard stitch length is 2.5mm. Could be thread tension, or could be the quality of the thread. If its very old on unbranded thread then it may break easier. I use Gutermann Sew All thread (which is polyester) for my sewing and find it gives good results and agrees with my machine, I hope that helps :)

      I try a light weight cotton lawn or voile and see if that gives better opaqueness :)

    If the gauze isn’t too sheer does it need interfacing or can just be sewn as is for tops dresses etc? If so what kind or type of interfacing

    • @LaurenGuthrieGhani
      @LaurenGuthrieGhani  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hello, I would recommend still using interfacing if its typically used in a pattern, for example areas like a collar, button bands, cuffs etc. A light weight one like these ones should be fine for most double gauze. guthrie-ghani.co.uk/shop/fabric/vlieseline-light-weight-iron-on-woven-interfacing-white guthrie-ghani.co.uk/shop/fabric/vlieseline-easyfuse-ultra-soft-lightweight-iron-on-interfacing-white

    Thank you so much Lauren.I have the Pipit Loungewear pattern and I just bought some Double Gauze for it. I was wondering if it was going to get caught or pucker in the machine because of the layers; your video was very informative and clear. Love the daisy print DG you have, do you sell it? and where? Many tanks xx

      Your most welcome 😊 it was a fabric we did have a few summers ago and isn’t available anymore I’m afraid. Our current range of double gauze is in this link, on the second page there are some other embroidered ones 😊

    I know this is an older video but I’m wondering about the pre-wash instructions. How badly does this fabric fray in the pre-wash? Is there anything special you should do prior to that first wash to help stop the fraying?

    • @LaurenGuthrieGhani
      @LaurenGuthrieGhani  Год назад

      Hello, I usually overlock the cut edges to minimise fraying. I can tend to fray as it is a looser weave fabric :)
