    The fact that the BTX looses some light compared to the monoculars is due to simple physics (and therefore cant really be changed). Physics dictates that the brightness of an optical system is governed by objective lens diameter, focal length and transmission.
    As the BTX both has a more complicated optical system (due to it having to employ a beam-splitter) and has to illuminate double the area in your eyes (two retinas instead of one), it should therefore technically be a little less than half as bright in every eye.
    The fact that it seems just slightly less bright is mainly due to the lower magnification and the ability of our brain to offset the loss in brightness by using binocular vision (as our eyes are mostly limited by resolution and contrast in low light).
    If you were to mount 2 spotting scopes of equal objective diameter and magnification besides each other, they would be considerably brighter, but also considerably more expensive and fiddly (as they would need perfect alignment in focal length, focus and direction).

    The converter is 1.7 , so it is 1.7x F stop on a lens. or, approx. a loss of 1 1/2 F stops.
    So, if your camera is set to F 5.6, then the converter would make it F 9.5
    Or , if no camera is on the unit, then it will darken the light about 1 & 1/2 F stops. As a reference point.

    Great review. One thing to note is that the 85mm pulls in more light then the 95mm due to the difference in magnification the math works out in favour to the 85mm. Objective diameter in mm divided by the power will give you the exit pupil size. The higher the number, the more light itll let through.

      Hamed Izzy Given the math (objective diameter/ocular or magnification), wouldn’t the 95mm gather more light? To illustrate, a 95mm objective with a 30x eyepiece will have an exit pupil of 3.17 compared with 2.83 for the 85mm.

    Great description of the ATX & BTX Corey. I have a pair of Zeiss 15x60s that I have owned for over 20 years that still work great. While they are a great binocular to glass for Coues deer or sheep, if you are also lugging a quality spotting scope with a stable tripod and rifle, it is a big load to hunt with. If I give up my 15x60s for a BTX, what size ATX would you use based on weight that would not make you miss the Zeiss too much? I still have a pair of range finding 10x40s that I can glass up close with.
    Thank you for the great videos.

      I'd tou were to get one get the 85mm. Biggest exit pupil size so brightest and not as heavy as the 95mm

    Hi Corey, great video! I have a question on eye relief and hope you can help guide me on this. I'm seriously considering the 95 mm ATX system but I wear glasses. Would the eye piece give me enough eye relief so as I don't have to smash my glasses against the eye piece or would I need to remove my glasses to get a full field of vision at max power? Thanks so much and have a great day !

    What camera would you recommend for the 85mm to take videos. 1,500$ Max. Hunting is the usage.

    Hey Corey. Nice breakdown of th BTX. Thank you for that.
    I have a question for you.-
    If you were only looking for meat bucks and had to choose between your 15x56 or a single eyepiece spotter what do you feel would help you find the most animals? Assuming you also have a pair of 8x or 10x binos.
    I currently only run a pair of 10x42s. They find game but
    leave allot to the imagination.
    I’m hunting Southern CA in steep, dense brush. Glassing from 200yds-2miles.

      100% I'd take a pair of quality 15's over a single eyepiece spotter, assuming the 15's are mounted on a good tripod for stability. No question it's easier to just "find game" with a pair of 15's on a tripod than a single eyepiece spotting scope. The spotting scope really shines when you want to pick apart shadows, look in between tree limbs, and count inches or points from a long way away. Hope this helps! - Corey

    Awesome review :)
    Would you think, that for birdwatching, the BTX with the 85mm is a good combination? I thought a lot about whether ATX or BTX and also which okular to choose from. But looking with both eyes is just such a advantage I guess...

      I have the BTX with the 85 mm, 95 mm and the 115 mm 😄.
      I can tell you right now: it's an AMAZING tool for birdwatching! Also any type of terrestrial viewing plus casual astronomy!
      The amount of detail you see with the 115 mm is out of this world!
      Insanely expensive but worth every penny in the end.
      I highly recommend them!

    You said you’d start with 65 and build up from there but if you could only buy one set up which combo would you get? I don’t use scope to hunt. I’d do national park hiking and wildlife viewing. Thanks!

      If you're planning on using the spotting scope for digiscoping and filming through it, we'd definitely recommend the 95mm ATX. The 95mm will give you better video/photo quality compared to the 85mm and 65mm

    • @The-Huntian
      @The-Huntian  2 года назад +1

      @@trantri5178 it depends on what you’re trying to do. If you’re spending hours doing a lot of really long rang glassing then I’d get the BTX. It’s a lot more comfortable on your eyes… downside is it doesn’t have zoom and isn’t as good for digiscoping…

    Has anyone done photography with these scopes to see the difference in brightness and various magnifications of same objects?

    • @The-Huntian
      @The-Huntian  2 года назад +1

      The ATX/STX are going to be the best options for photography. The BTX is very average for photography and it's at a fixed 35x magnification... In my opinion the best option would be an ATX with a 95mm or 115mm objective lens...
