I’ve always done meander when machine quilting. My latest quilt was a king size. Lots of work, but very relaxing. I set my stitch length to zero. Although I’ve been quilting for almost 40 years, I enjoyed your video. Thank you
Watching your video helped me improve my meandering. I keep hearing your voice saying imagine a river. Also, I noticed that you didn’t change the presser foot pressure dial, which allowed me to have better control. Thanks.❤
Well done! I'm so proud of you. I'm a very visual person so I think i put that into my teaching. Oh I'm so glad you got it!!!!! Now practice that and move onto something else or you'll get too comfortable.
@@FaodailCreation so far I'm struggling with the ruler. It seems there are so many components of which my hands and mind have to keep track. I'd love to see you do some videos for ruler work! TIA! 😁
This is an excellent video. Thank you for showing how to pull the bobbin thread up. How do you end the process? Can you do a back stitch to secure the work?
thank you for the comment. you can back stitch however if you want to enter a quilt show you will have to hide the thread between the top and the backing. you knot and pull it through
Thank you so much for your very good teaching tips needed to inspire me to try this. Very clear and slow enough to create comprehension for free motion quilting novice. Appreciate your sharing your expertise!!!

I am making a baby quilt size 45x42 and have never meandered before. I have an Elna machine. Do I start in the middle of the quilt and then work out from the center in one direction, finish that side to the end and then go back to the center to meander the other side until finished? If I don’t have time to complete the quilt in one sitting, do I ever stop or cut the thread as I am meandering or do I just stop meandering, walk away from my machine, and then come back and pick up where I left off?
Start from the middle and work your way out. That's correct. Yes you can start and stop I usually will do a backstretch over the top to secure it. If you enter a quilt show mind you you won't be able to do that.
Great video, thankyou from Australia!

@@FaodailCreation thanks for the encouragement. I'm also practicing with a ruler foot and a couple of templates. 🤗
You should find ruler work much easier. I really need to do some tutorials on that too.

Thank you. Great, easy-to-understand tutorial.

You make it look so easy I get myself all muddled up, and my material seems to puncture
Honestly it's all just practice. The more you don't the more you ease into it
Excellent tutorial Thankyou.😀

You’re awesome!! You have helped me so much!! Thanks 😊😊

Love how you’ve done this…. Quick question, as I’ve only small collection of threads, is it ok to use normal everyday sewing threads?
Yes you can 🙂
Also it's not a big investment when you get started for practising
Great tutorial one question what size needle do you use
I always use 90/14 microtex
Thank you
You're welcome
Where do you suggest starting on a quilt - top, centre, etc?
Always start in the center and work your way out.
@@FaodailCreation thanks, you don't mention that in your video
Dont panic😂
It's like when people push the gas on a lawn mower and just get pulled around with it and not letting go. lol
Wish you didn't waste time ironing!!
