This is very helpful to me as a person who is just starting with a long arm and doing my own quilting. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us!
I have to redo my quilt 😩. I have the hardest time keeping the 3 layers. Together. I get shifting… I used basting spray and pins. I hate it when I get to quilting. I like making the tops
Oh no!!! I’m so sorry!! Basting really well can make it so that the layers don’t shift as much. When I baste my quilts I secure the backing down with painters tape on all four sides so that it is nice and taught. Then I do the same with my batting. Then I lay my quilt top on top and tape it down nice and taught. Then I pin quite a bit. Let me know how it goes!! No one likes to unpick!!! 😩😩
I am so OCD I can not meander at all. Would starting in just 1 block and finishing it then on to the next one work? I may have tor try that. Keep my spacing down to 1/2 inch maybe. Thanks for encouraging my brain to work.
You could divide your area into sections (blocks) and meander in there to fill in before moving on to the next block area. Doing what works for you is the right way to do it!! 😁

You gave me some more ideas when I quilt. One way I use meandering is adding stars randomly.
