I think if the intake doesn’t clear the hood you should just hammer the hood out instead of cutting it, it will just add to the sleeper look having a beat up hood versus being able to see that there’s something going on under the hood

Hey Gingium, quick Fusion 360 tip for calibrating a canvas. If you include a ruler in the photo then you can get an accurate and quick calibration. I also try to get as far away from the part as possible to avoid camera distortion.

For real though, Molly was his first real project, filming videos at his house, to the first shop and all those builds, then to his second shop and so forth. Not to mention how good he's gotten at what he does, fabricating isn't the easiest thing in the world and this man can make some real cool stuff (Mid engine Eclipse). He built a mini truck for drifting and he's pretty good at that too, next to the EJ swapped Miata (which is still the coolest thing I've ever seen), then the camper bus, etc. I swear, his videos helped me get through my last few years of high school, I was always excited for the next video to see what kind of build he could come up with.

@@craigpearson9063 Basically means you’re sucking up air (in any volume). Your delivered oil pressure is overall lower as air can be compressed where as the oil can’t be. Think of it like a boat impeller. When it cavitates in the water, your speed drops, your motor works harder, and when you do get over the cavitation, it catches really hard and hurts the impeller (it weakens the fins over time). Hope this helps.

Make sure to have the front cover centered before you torque it down. Either get the tool or do what most do and use the balancer, then torque it or you’ll eat the front seal pretty quick. Also, don’t trust those rockers for long before you replace the press in trunion caps with some kind of setup with bushings and snap rings. Can’t wait to see the Volvo back up and rippin!!! I’m so happy you’re working on the Volvo again. 😁 I have a 83 Volvo 240 with a 5.3 LS AR5 5-Speed Swap. Same color as yours except it’s a sedan instead of a wagon. I started building it in 2019 but it’s been very slow progress, for similar reasons as yours actually, I moved to a different city and realized it’s a lot harder to fabricate a project like this in a apartment garage with no money. Anyways now all I need is a fuel pump and ECU and it’s ready to start finally. Your Volvo videos have kept me inspired over the years as mine has sat in the garage untouched.

Keep the intake manifold on and fabricate a subtle power bulge on the the hood, and paint in factory colour.

Cut the hood for intake clearance then put on one of the "ricer" bolt on hood scoops that cover it

You should have replaced the trunnion bearings, if the needles come out at somewhat high rpm it will kill the engine. Most ls guys opt out for ones with c clips. They’re actually cheap on summit.
