This is definitely future-proofing DH. Loving the forethought of the safety features, line choice and mix of tech/bikepark jumps/drops. This is the perfect track. Pure art. Can't wait for BK to come out and give his stamp of approval 👌
I’ve got some friends on the trail crew and have been hearing the rumblings for the last 4-5 years. Got to race the upper section in the EWS last year, and holy fuck is the rest of this trail a work of art. A proper downhill track, all I can hope is that Vail pulls their heads out of their ass and makes the proper push to bring a World Cup here.
Glad to see this is the direction Whistler and CrankWorks is going. Something that I could never ride, even with stops (and more stops) for breathers. Something most could not tackle in one uninterrupted run. It’s nice to ride a WC track of course, but…. The other thing is injuries. IMHO this sort of track will have less injuries than the hyper fast “straight lines” of some of the WC tracks in mainland Europe. There have been a lot of injuries this year and they haven’t been on the super technical sections, but on semi-technical bits many could ride and as a consequence the WC riders have to take on at 50-60km/hr to win…
This completes the picture after seeing Rémy do two laps on it the other day and it is way gnarlier in some parts than it looks from the rider position going down 😅 They really put everything great in there you can find on half a dozen different tracks but hardly on the same one, except maybe for VDS, but that track is just destroyed by the time the finals happen. We'll see how this one shapes ip after a few hundred runs.
Really cool to see you on the Yalla! You mentioned you run it as mullet, which is not set up to do (as far what I can find from RAW). Did you do anything to compensate for the altered geo or get any info from RAW on how to best do this?
