OUR VAN: Ford Transit 350, High Roof, Extended length, All Wheel Drive, 3.5 Liter EcoBoost
We have had so much interest in our van when we are out and about. People want to know what it is, what can it do and what does it look like inside. I explain the options that we chose and why we chose them. If you have any questions please comment below, I would love to help! Enjoy a quick peak at our Ford Transit!
Thanks for the walk around. Very impressive! Lot of thought went into this project. Love the body color and black.
We will have to stop by and show you!
Coolest feature of the van. The lock Dad out button for closing the sliding door!
I've got my 2022 on order from last Nov. Hopefully Ford will decide to build it someday this year.
Hahaha exactly!
That’s exciting! What van did you order?
@@jonesycrew 148", HR, AWD, Cargo, RV Prep, Towing, plus most any option that seemed useful for conversion. Spent far too much time researching details, but it was helpful.
@@Chris-ut6eq Sick! What’s included in the RV Package?
@@jonesycrew RV Prep (Code: 47D) - Big pieces are things like the HD towing package, swivel seats, and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, some of the exterior sensing packages. Plus little things like illuminated visors, fog lights, etc.
I did not order the Ecoboost engine so the adventure prep package was not a valid option. Packages save money, but only when you really wanted most/all of the included options. I priced each option to see if it was worth getting the package. Saved a little money over getting each individually.
Overall, outside of base vehicle choices like AWD, added about 10k options to the van via RV Prep and misc others. Went a tad over-budget. ;-p
So you can only order the adventure prep package if you choose an Ecoboost?
Loved the video. Would you consider doing a video on the rear AC option? Mainly does it work well blowing cold air? Good air flow with it? Is it as good cooling as a passenger van in the rear? Maybe the temp of the air coming out of it etc…. Just some thoughts for a video.
But if not a video could you give your opinion about how well it works in a reply? Thanks
This is the same AC unit as a passenger van. It is just simply not plumbed into the cabin like a passenger van. I can make a descriptive video on it!
Hi, Thank you for this very informative and helpful video. Regarding the factory rear air conditioning, ignoring issues of supplying enough 12 V power, does the engine have to be on in order for it to work, or is it a completely self contained compressor unit, etc? And how noisy is it? (would you be able to sleep while it's on?
Thanks again,
The engine does have to be on in order for it to pump cold air, unfortunately. We figured for a $300 add on, why not try it out, if we don’t like then will take out and put an aftermarket AC unit in. It is noisy on full blast, but that’s most likely due to it not being plumbed through the cabin space. Overall, we love the added AC while driving! Keeps us nice and cool combined with the front AC.
I almost bought the transit was 6 months wait delivery, I ended up buying the 2021 sprinter crew van with all bells and whistles for same price of transit and I get 27 miles per gallon turbo 4 cylinder diesel I added another 3 seat recline for 1k bought from offer up. Seats 8 now.
I can’t argue with that! Did you get 4x4?
@@jonesycrew no, at the time 4wheel drive is more than six months waits cause builders are buying them in quantities, I was told from dealership. Nice to have sprinter 4 wheel drive but I rather have my Ford e350 high roof van converted to a real 4x4 less expensive for repairs.
@@rudeman1914 that explains the why your cost was similar, add 10k for 4x4 on a sprinter. What are you using your sprinter for?
@@jonesycrew 4 kids and 2 dogs travel and beaches. I can take there bikes and lots of stuff inside the van.
@@rudeman1914 4 kids as well. The van is amazing! We use it for everything to hauling dirt bikes, camping etc. Hoping to pick up a boat this summer to tow with it too!
Hi...thanks for the video. I too am trying to figure out what options. How did you get the black out trim around the grill??? what package? Also if you order a van with only front seats are there the same attachment points in the floor for a 2nd row of 2 seats? Do you have a link of where you got your 2nd row?...they match well. thanks
After looking at my order summary I don’t see a specific option that states it being black. I do remember there were two options, black or chrome. There are no attachment points for the 2nd row seats if you purchase the cargo van like we did. I do have a video showing how we installed our seats. We bought our seats off of eBay from the same year ford transit!
Here is the link to seat installation vid --> ruclips.net/video/k8GyCQMF5Q4/видео.html
Hello I just subscribed, thanks for made these videos. I am planning to order a van. My main thinking is how can I keep my 3 kids cool on the rear bench. I think the OEM A/C is not strong enough to keep everyone cool. What do you think? I am doing my research and the only option that I found so far is the Dometic RTX 2000.
We use the front AC and the rear AC and it does a pretty good job. It would do way better at keeping it cool on the inside if we had the van insulated. We also have a roof fan mounted in the rear as well for more circulation! Depending on your climate, these 3 ways of cooling do a pretty good job.
Van looks really good and I would love to know how hard was the lift kit to install? Are those factory seats? You might want to check out my friends shop for future stuff for your van Trasnit off Road his name is Brent Foes and he can make anything!! Just followed you so keep the vids coming!! Have a Great Day!!
The lift kit took 8 hours to install, the worst part was removing the ball joints and compressing the springs. Other then that it is doable with the right tools and friends.
Thank you!! Thanks for the Subscribe!
Those are factory seats out of a 2021 passenger transit. Black leather to match the front seats, it’s two 2 seater benches.
Awesome where is he located?
Will do! Any specific videos you want to see in the near future?
Hello, your van look awesome, how many standard pallets could fit in it??
Should I make a video….
hi there so my wants a minvan but im wanting something like this so its more practical to use for everything. do y’all use it for everyday use as well
We daily drive out transit and absolutely LOVE IT! We use it for everything. I have had it loaded with a cord of fire wood, dirt bikes, landscaping supplies, used as a changing room, camp out of it, string hammocks in the back, moving loads of furniture, dump runs, you name it. Plus, it handles amazing in the snow and tows our boat!
Seat install video would be awesome!
You got it!
@@jonesycrew yes seat install, as have a cargo 148 AWD ordered and need at least one more seat.
@@jonsmail8082 I will have the seat install video up shortly!
Seat install video is up for you
@@jonesycrew Now to find the ralls/seat mounts as the rest looks easy.
The child adds to the excitement of the video. 🤣🤣🤣
He absolutely does 😂
Sweet van. Very impressive. What is the “name” of the external color you chose?
Thank you. Carbonized grey is the color! Did you order a van?
@@jonesycrew I’m about to order my van. I’m Making some last-minute decisions about options. Your video helps tremendously. Thank you.
Glad to help! What other options are you choosing or wondering if they are necessary or not?
looks nice but for my job as carpet installer i ordered Mercedes sprinter extended high roof loaded , I like it more, plus the rear is not sticking up too much, good luck.
What do you mean by loaded?
Did you get the 170 extended?
Why do you like it more?
The rear definitely is not sticking out as much with a 170 Mercedes, but the turning radius isn’t as sharp… if that matters to you
@@jonesycrew for you might be good, I am Carpt installer and see many pro masters and fords, looks like after couple of years they are too shaky or maybe people abuse them, but for me i need long cargo, I believe mine will be 14.5 or 15 ft
@@jonesycrew some driveways are too steep, and rear of ford may touch the ground, I ordered with all options, will see I just like how it looks
@@alexolga11 yea that makes sense!
Are a lot of them AWD I’m assuming?
@@alexolga11 I love the look of the Mercedes Sprinter vans as well, I work at a van shop part time other than being a firefighter and a majority of the vehicle we work on are sprinters! I just appreciate the lower maintenance costs of a ford and not deals with the diesel DEF systems
Sweet rig! Pretty much exactly what I want for my wife and I to travel around the country in. I'm curious... what is your real world MPG on average? I suspect the lift and tires might drop it a little bit, but the benefits far outweigh the little bit of lost fuel economy.
Thanks! I hope you pull the trigger.. absolutely worth it. Real MPG, 11! Smiles per gallon.. 🦾
I wished ford gave you the option of an extended high roof crew van non dually.
It was definitely frustrating not being able to get the crew bench seat from the factory. Maybe they will in the future! Also now on the 2022 models you can get the LED headlights on a cargo van and the 360 degree camera. The seat install was pretty straight forward fortunately. Just finding matching seats can be a pain!
@@jonesycrew how much was the cost? On a separate note I wished the e transit had more range. If it was atleast had 250 miles I'd be all over that. I'm currently in a mind battle of getting a high roof extended cargo like yours or wait and see if ford will increase the e transit range.
@@Transit_my-way With all of the options we chose it was about 57K before taxes. I totally get your situation! What is the towing capacity of the E-transit?
@@jonesycrew I'm not sure. I'll have to look it up. My thing is that my job has free charging for electric vehicles. So I'd never spend a dime filling up plus on top of the low maintenance cost of an ev. Win win.
@@jonesycrew oh I was referring to your cost of seat and install.
Let me know your mpg. I have 2017 transit 250 3.7 and getting 15mpg but I carry maybe around 1500lbs. But again you so smart to get transit over the sprinter cause when Mercedes break down the cost to repair double or triple compare with ford. Also I believe 2021 has 2 different kind of engine both is 3.5 but one is naturally and one is turbo, isn’t it? If you get turbo don’t go over 5k intervals oil change cause that will kill your engine . I have 3.7 naturally and I have about 140k now and trouble free
We average 12 MPG, with no added weight. The 2.5 inch lift and Toyo MT tires don’t help… that’s why we call it Smiles Per Miles!
Right, cost repair and delay of maintenance. Plus ford gives a better warranty for free!
Where did you get the window covers?
Van Made Gear!
What was the tire size and lift kit? Just got my 2021 AWD but I can't decide which lift kit to get.
Yo!
tire size: 245/75/16 with a TOYO MT tire
lift kit: 2 inch lift kit from Van Compass, we only installed the front lift kit, not the rear because we like that it sits level. When we build out the back we will install the rear lift.
What options did you choose for your van? I bet you are pumped!!
Is that in the Abyss Gray?
Carbonized Grey!
where did you get that a/c unit ?
I ordered that AC unit from the factory!
Yeah i didn't know you could get that extra rear ac,that's nice,I'd definitely get it.
@@herblackwings33 plus it’s only a $200 addition, if you don’t like it just remove it for the extra space!
whats your average MPG
We average 12 MPG
We get flashed all the time, but we see real well....your blinding everyone else
Lol offended 😂
