    Thanks for this video! It helped a lot with our factory order. We're hoping to see it by the end of this year hopefully. We didn't order the upfitter switches, but got the Auxilary Fuse Panel. Apparently it will be useful in situations where we want to add things like LED bar or other accessories while vehicle is running. Do you have any experience with it? Only reason we didn't get the factory switches is because we don't like the placement of them. Is it difficult to add switches to the aux fuse panel?

    Regarding the swivel seat: are there any controls on the seat if not 10 way? Does a swivel seat have lumbar, reclining, forward-backward, and or thigh adjustments, all or nome or some of these? Thanks, Great video series!!! You get to the point,, all without being dramatically redundant, and without superfluous fluff. Finally, why not the RV package or motor home package, could you compare-contrast these?

    • @AVCRIG
      @AVCRIG  2 года назад +1

      I’ve reached out to Ford to see if they can outline some of that for me. The seating adjustments are basically the same. The factory swivel just doesn’t allow for heated seats.
      The wiring will take me more research. I just don’t want to put bad info out there. I believe it’s mostly wiring that we wouldn’t use.

    An alternative viewpoint: Ford Transit production is supply-chain limited and the number of electronics-based options plays a role in your van delivery time.
    When we ordered our 2021 Transit, we added few options -- limited slip differential (because it's not 1972..), 10-way seats, windows all around, basic cruise control. $40K . Our van was delivered 3 months later, one of the first 2021's on the FordTransitUSAForum. Many others spent much or all of 2021 waiting for their more heavily-optioned vans to be delivered. The number of electronic-based options plays a role in your van delivery time..

    Very close to my option list (waiting for Ford to built). I also added the "Auxiliary Fuel Port Extension Line" it gives easy access to the fuel tank for use with gas heater, this option also includes the larger 31 gallon fuel tank. "Intelligent Access with Push Button Start" is also nice, no need to use the key fob, just have it in your pocket to unlock and start the van.

    • @samstellastephen

      I've seen a number of issues with heaters trying to use the AUX fuel port not working well though, it seems the consensus is not to use the AUX port if you want the most reliable heater for all situations. You can get the ext tank without this option.

    • @AVCRIG
      @AVCRIG  2 года назад +1

      I'd say the main advantage of the secondary alternator is saving the wear on your primary. For me, I feel like the extra alternator is more for high power draw situations where you're using the engine as a generator (think contractor running equipment directly from the van). I'll admit I'm not the best resource for the details here as I am just unfamiliar with them. I try to creates simple builds that wouldn't require that much supplementary power. Hopefully someone else can chime in and maybe educate me too...

      @brianchetelat6601 2 года назад +1

      @@AVCRIG Thank you Matt for your thoughts. To give you a more complete picture, which I should have done in the first place, my plan is to have about 1000Amps of Lithium and to run two (2) DC to DC Chargers using my extra 250Amp Alternator. This, the way I see it, would be my primary means of charging the house batteries. Coupled with that would be 200 to 400 Watts of solar up top for trickle charging. Weight will not be an issue since my Payload is around 4500 pounds. My challenge now is figuring out what Ford did or did not give me in terms of connections for utilizing that spare alternator. That should be fun : ) They gave me a bag a various wiring harnesses with no instructions. Oh boy...

    • @thesailingrode1817
      @thesailingrode1817 2 года назад +1

      I debated on the dual alternator for my 2022 order, but most of the recommendations I read said the single 150amp was more than enough for most uses and the aftermarket alternators had some advantages for power access if ever needed in the future. The transit forums discuss them extensively.

    • @posteroonie
      @posteroonie 2 года назад +3

      Renogy has a 60A DC-DC charger that has a connection which, if it's at 12v, cuts the charge amperage in half. So with a switch on that signal, you can run at 30A and only flip the switch to tax your alternator for 60A when you really need the higher current. Renogy's 40A and 20A DC-DC chargers work the same way.

      They aren’t better, just look better. I was meaning I’d spend money on a nice wheel set for summer and save the Steel wheel for winter where they will see more abuse and be dirtier. That is if you buy an upgraded wheel for your van at all.

The dealer added thousands for the same van (sent them a printed list of features and was willing to wait for it to be built exactly as I priced it on line). What a fantastic marketing decision by Ford corporate. No sale.

    4 way swivel and 10 way have the exact same adjustments, except you don't get lumbar adjustment on the passenger seat with the 4 way.
    Example,
    Moving the seat back and forth is considered 1 way for the 4 way seats, and 2 ways for the 10 way.
    Adjusting the seat up and down is considered 1 way for the 4 way seats, and 2 ways for the 10 way.
    Adjusting the front of the seat angle is considered 1 way for the 4 way seats, and 2 ways for the 10 way.
    Reclining the back of the seat is considered 1 way for the 4 way seats, and 2 ways for the 10 way.
    Lumbar adjustment is only on the driver seat for the 4 way swivel seat and not counted in the number of ways, and considered another 2 ways for the 10 way seats.
    4 way swivel is manual adjustment, but you get swivels.
    10 way is power adjustment, but you get heated seats.
    10 way comes in leather or fabric depending on the van you get, cargo vs crew vs passenger.
    There is no power, heated, swivel option.
    You can add heat to the 4 way, or add swivels to the 10 way.
    Pick what oem features are important to you.
