Yes it's definitely more satisfying than paying someone more than the cost of the bulb to do the job. It's not the worse I've ever done. MK2 Megane headlamp bulb springs to mind.
I did the running light job, but the new bulb fell out into the light reflector section. Needless to say I then released the wheel arch liner, dosconnected the lights holder, shook the loose globe out, and tried again. A nightmare job. But better my free time than the mechanic's expensive time. Now I have one blue and one white light. Cant face doing the other one yet!
I feel your pain. They are a pug of a job to do and in some ways it's Probably easier to remove the arch liner. About 20 years ago I was changing a headlight bulb in a MK2 Mégane which was accessed through the wheel arch and the bulb holder came off in my hand, in a car park at night.
Great and informative little guide Mark.
Thank you.
It's one of those jobs that comes up in post in the owners club group far too often.
I took the wheel off and used long nose pliers to help get the holder out. It's a bit of a nightmare but satisfying when you complete the job.
