You may have seen my Sunflower Yellow Mégane Coupe there. I'm only about ten miles away from the Motorist so I suppose that makes it my local.

My pleasure, inevitably some cars get missed but the R8 is a car I have a lot of nostalgia for.

They are great cars and have certainly stood the rest of time. This particular example has just been in the Concourse at Festival of the unexceptional.

There is one I see regularly with the crusty front wings. Thankfully this particular example was in excellent condition.

@@markonmotoring Exactly , they go on the arches all around and the trouble is , it’s not just limited to this model. Newer ones are blighted as well . I saw a much newer blue efficiency SLK being advertised recently and when I zoomed the pics I could see low level corrosion on the arches

They must be one of the best looking modern cars currently in sale

Thank You, great to hear you are enjoying the car. I don't think that this example had the cup holder but a small draw that pulls out instead. The R170 had something similar, perhaps the cup holder was an optional extra or something that was added to the standard spec at a later date? Mercedes along with some other German car manufacturers often charges extra for items you may expect as standard.

I do love a RR. I was acquainted with the Bonham's auctions in house Rolls mechanic for a while and it gave me a new found respect for those elegant cars.. nice video🦖👌

Thanks Ross, I adopted the interview format about six months into my RUclips Journey to try to move my videos away from the generic format we often see. I know a few others have also since integrated interviews into videos. I feel you can get a much deeper understanding if these vehicles by talking with the people who cherish them and keep them going. I like Simon's videos too, he doesn't include as many interviews as I do but with many years of experience in the Automotive industry he is extremely knowledgeable and it really shows true in his videos. The RR and Bentley models on display were really fascinating cars with great attention to detail.

Thanks Davy, I think I recall your friends Micra from.your previous videos and photos. Great memories surrounding your father's escort, we really were content with a lot less in terms of special features back then and I personally loved a good special edition. I look forward to learning more about your travels and the new fleet member.

@@markonmotoring to my dad a car is a car to him, we never had anything really fancy growing up, Bonus would have been cheap. Even today by dad will just buy the entry level version of a car and I think that's rubbed off me in a way, there is always something about a base spec over a sporty model. One example my dad had was a a Almera Sporting (dealer special edition) they took base Almera, stuck a tacky spoiler on and a alloys from a higher spec and a fiat sporting badge.

@@scottishcarenthusiastsandtrain We had mostly base model cars too. Back then any car represented freedom which has become lost over the years.

They are great fun. These cars always did have a good reputation for how they drive. You could easily spend far more on a car that is less satisfying.

Thank you. I'm.not sure about New Zealand but cars did find their way out east. Australia still has a vibrant Renault community, even though the brand was pulled out of that market for a few years in the 1990's. Some countries such as the Philippines had importers who sold limited numbers but I don't think.European cars were ever as popular as those from Japan, Korea, Malaysia or homegrown models. It's interesting to hear about the history of some of these vehicles in other parts of the world.

@markonmotoring Thanks for your reply. I lived and worked in Sydney Australia in the 1990s. European cars are scarce there. Renault are still sold hear today. I like the Renault 16. It's my favorite.

That 930 SC really looked the business. The CX was remarkably, a big family car of that age and it looked so good with only the fabric on the driver's seat having ever been repaired. A rare sight and such a time warp.

This was one of the first videos I ever filmed. It became apparent pretty early on that there were issues with the opening address in this video. The in car audio was a little better but since then I have invested in some dedicated audio equipment.

It's certainly got presence be it standing still or on the move. Even at a slow crawl it sounded great when I followed the car in that morning. The accelerator times are seriously impressive, it's quicker to 60 mph than many super cars.

The CRX is the one I featured in more detail last year in my video from another event. The two replicas really were very good and I think the key is in the Replica part, it's a kit but it's not built in a donor chassis, it's all bespoke so the dimensions of the vehicle are accurate compared to the real thing. Many of the finer details are also genuine parts as used in the original cars. Oh and I completely agree about the generic appearance of modern SUV's.

Thanks. My footage was a bit compromised in this one but I tried to make the best of what I have.

We don't have the 500 any more but they are not at all bad for noise. A friend went from a Citroen C1 to a 500 and did comment on how he found the fiat to feel more premium despite all of the hard plastic. The 500 seemed to sit In a gap between cars like the 107/C1 and the more costly Mini. We had two Fiat 500's and only lost the red one after 11 years of ownership after someone rear ended it and wrote the car off due to its low value by that point.

I can't say that I've noticed many in the US when I last visited but I suppose European imports will be comparatively expensive next to US models or even the many Japanese cars in sale there. The 350 isn't all.that common a choice in the UK with many going for the four cylinder super charged model. You typically find manufacturers offer smaller engines here that may not be available stateside.

Thanks. It's certainly worth a look around. Probably not as big as the British Motorshow Museum or Haynes Museum but still a lot crammed in so an enthusiast like yourself will enjoy it. You can also book to drive some of the exhibits which is something I haven't seen anywhere else. This place is a little over an hour from me too so if you drop me a message closer to the time if you want any help planning your itinerary.

Thank you. That particular model is the Renault 17 but the 15 looks very similar. The most obvious change is the design of the rear side glazing which is a larger window on the 15.

Wow, you must have some interesting tales to tell about your time selling them? I'm hoping to do a bit of more in depth filming at some point with Mick from the Simca Club but I'm a bit behind with filming projects at the moment.

I feel your pain. They are a pug of a job to do and in some ways it's Probably easier to remove the arch liner. About 20 years ago I was changing a headlight bulb in a MK2 Mégane which was accessed through the wheel arch and the bulb holder came off in my hand, in a car park at night.

Thanks. This one was possibly one of the closest to the Midlands that I'm.aware of. Later this year is Brooklands French Day and Simply French at Beaulieu. In October it Autos De France at Oulton Park. All a bit of a drive but within reach of the Midlands.

@@markonmotoring yeah Great British Car Journey isn't so far, it's just a bit more of a commitment in terms of time! I'll be at Autos de France this year, not sure what I'll take yet though (my french fleet is a bit poorly across the board)! This one looked like a really good event to shame I didn't make it. I'm at Coventry Motofest this weekend.

The driving position is central with a small passenger seat behind the driver.

Thanks Davy. It's not every day that you get the chance to feature a Twizzy, let alone speak with someone who owns one. The BX was really interesting and must be one of the earliest surviving examples. You may have seen the 205's at The Motorist. I saw a good selection of 205's when I went to Simply French last year and one of the guys from the Peugeot Sport Club I had a chat with off camera knew a few of the cars I've previously covered.

Thanks Simon. At FOTU last year I was driven down the Field in a BX and they really do float over the bumps giving a snotty ride on most surfaces.

The 1.2 FIRE engines I believe have a camera belt but the TwinAir are chain drivers. I asked a mechanic the same question and was told that it should last the life of the engine. I'm not entirely convinced though as a chain can stretch over time.

I'm stoll hoping to drive a 405 on the channel at some point. Having featured more classic car shows than mixed vehicles it's been a while since I've featured so many Japanese cars.

The supra did look good, I always liked that era of Toyota sports and GT cars. The 405 Mi16 was fantastic and a design that had really aged very well. You will enjoy the Citroen Northern Rally, last year was great.

I used to go regularly as I'm only about ten miles away. When I have called in this year I've not been filming.
