This has been my favorite Beatles song since first hearing it at age 14 - Thank YOU for reacting to it!!!❤ This beautiful melody with its matchless harmonies highlights the true, sweetly romantic aspect of the voice of the original Janes Paul McCartney, who tragically died one rainy night in 1966 when his sports car crashed (or rather, was crashed...). Thank you for playing the song. RIP +James Paul McCartney: those of us who care miss you, prayerfully+🙏
That is one of my favorite Beatle songs! It still sounds so fresh and perfectly realized! It amazes me that this song came out in 1964! The Beatles really were the New Breed, bringing a huge, new sound to Rock music! When the Beatles played this in concert -- you can hear it on the "Eight Days a Week" soundtrack/live album -- they would play the verses kind of subdued and more quietly. During these parts, the usually frantic audience (at least on the Hollywood Bowl recordings) would stay relatively quiet, listening and waiting...then the Beatles would launch into that loud bridge section -- "Me, I'm just the lucky kind..." -- with a HUGE drop, a wall of sound, and the audience would go totally bonkers! You should hear that version because they were crushing it on stage with this song! Totally awesome!
They knew no bounds to their sophistication. Even when they went on their psychedelic kick, they offered up their music so that even the uninitialized could fully appreciate it because it was founded on basic human sensibilities. Their appeal to four generations and counting is proof enough of this. They transcend modes and trends so seamlessly.
"Things We Said Today" topped the charts back in 1964. The acoustic guitar strumming and the vocal harmonies remind me of The Everly Brothers, but the bridge after the second chorus anchors the song firmly in the mid-sixties.
Terrific reaction Cim!! Like All My loving from their previous album, Things We Said Today is Paul harmonizing to himself. When the Beatles embarked on their late summer 1964 North American Tour, both of these songs were included. George handled the harmony vocal on both song very deftly. The minor/major motif used during Things We Said Today can be traced back to another favorite song of Paul's. That song being Besame Mucho, performed by The Coasters. Besame Mucho was the first song the Beatles recorded on their first trip to EMI on June 6 1962, with Pete Best playing drums. They last performed it on the bands final trip to Hamburg (with Ringo this time) at the very end of 1962. They didn't return to it till they were kicking songs around during the Get Back sessions in Jan 1969. RNB
You were ALMOST tearing up???......something must be wrong with me......they say grown men aren't supposed to cry......I was tearing up.....such a gorgeous song.....don't know if I started to because of thinking about some yesterdays......or the sweet look on your face....or wondering who this was written about.....and then knowing it didn't last....and the way too often futility of love......I will come after you for NOT tearing up and making me seem to be more a mouse than man 🤣🤣🤣......nice top....like that......what happened to your head?🤣🤣🤣....just kidding.....you know I love it 💖💖💖💖💋💋🤗🤗🙏🙏🙏🙏🌈🌈🌈🌈
one of their early songs that stood out to me, i remember getting a little hung up on certain melodies like this, listening to them more than once, and soaking up those magic notes.. trying to understand them, looking for their source in the scenes that played out in my head, as if searching for a familiar place or person
the change in tempo in this song reminds me of the tempo change in a much later Beatles song.. "I, Me, Mine".... I hope someday they invent Time Travel so you can go back to 1964 and see the Beatles perform live!!
Maybe only about 20 "bad" songs out of close to 200 that they wrote. Not to mention all their solo works. Absolute geniuses! Never be another group like them, which is why "kids" your age love them as much as we did when they first appeared.
Cimdy, this is wild to watch you seeing this for the first time. I started buying Beatle albums when I was 9. I listened to them start to finish over and over again. This is a classic. When you run out of Beatle songs, I have some great suggesions
Another one of my FAVORITE Beatles' songs! I would LOVE to see you react to their songs, "I'LL BE BACK" and "I NEED YOU" I KNOW you will like them as well. NO ONE has reacted to them so far. Have you reacted to "BECAUSE" yet? It is part of the Medley on SIDE 2 of the ABBEY ROAD album, the harmonies are GORGEOUS on that one. LOVE your reactions Cimdy!! MORE BEATLES, please! ( I LOVE PAUL TOO, Cimdy, have loved him for 58 years now!!!!)
Another Beatles "deep cut", that shows their forward-thinking as song writers is "Not a Second Time", from the With The Beatles album (1963)! Check it out, if you haven't already!
Yay Cymdy, I was waiting for you to do this song.. Very underrated in my opinion, should have had more radio time. Another underrated song if you are interested off Revolver. "And your bird can sing". Its very upbeat!
Uh oh... another Paul love song! How far will Cimdy swoon THIS time when they reach that first chorus? (I think this is a Girlfriend Jane Asher song, by the way ... not for much longer, though.)
If you tear up, that's great! Music is meant to move peple.🙏❤✌️. Next Beatles song for you - George's "Savoy Truffle", from the White Album. A fun song about the consequences of eating a whole box of chocolates. Love ya!!!
I love to watch your face as you discover The Beatles!
your facial expressions say it all , it was exactly the same for us !!!
The lyric is just beautiful ❤️❤️❤️

I agreed they were so futuristic! Love Paul voice... Beatlemania 2022!

All Beatlemania after 1966 has been without Paul ... who really died in 1966+
We only have Ringo now 🙏
süper paylaşım olmuş tebrikler 👍

Most excellent 👌thanks for this good job 👍
The Beatles are inexhaustible. Love their songs always. Meaningful lyrics. Deep and timeless. Nice pick gorgeous!
I have not heard this song in a very long time and I am reminded what a beautiful one this is, especially the melody and its simplicity.
Well enjoy listening

Not a #1 in UK.

Beatlemania 2022! Such a beautiful sound.
The Beatles always had great songs. My parents used to love their songs

Thank you so much Stephen for the compliment 😊. I sold my head out long time ago🤣🤣😘💞
Love the Beatle sound & style its unique and different!
Don't apologize for tearing up over Paul's love songs: that's part of his genius. Paul wrote the love songs & John wrote the (loud) rock songs.

You can never go wrong white a Beatles song, and you have about 350 songs more 😊 to go

That's a Beatles cover band to my ears!?!

You should do a reaction to the Beatles' song FOR NO ONE. It was written and sung by Paul McCartney. It is a sad song about a breakup.
New friend here, showing my support from daddy Bella tv show, please stay connected, thanks ❤️
Uh oh... another Paul love song! How far will Cimdy swoon THIS time when they reach that first chorus? (I think this is a Girlfriend Jane Asher song, by the way ... not for much longer, though.)
One of Paul's better early efforts. A bit more mature lyrically.
