    Thanks for the video Jon, we will be arriving in 10 days with a family of 3 also. Glad to know your budget. Mine will be a little more since I know we like it cold in the house and we all like to eat. We can’t wait to get there and start the new chapter of our life.

    John regarding your AXA Thai insurance, I have found them to be honorable when making a claim. Last year I was in Chiang Mai and made an "outpatient" services claim on my AXA Thai travel insurance. They communicated diligently by email to make sure the reimbursement for services went to my US bank account. It took about 4 weeks to receive the reimbursement. I will once again use their travel insurance when I return to Thailand in a few months.

      Can you share the Line # or email of who your AXA agent is please?
      We are Canadian...AXA would sell us travel medical insurance then? (Just to be clear)
      Thanks in advance!

    Not a bad budget by ANY means, Jon! As a single man, my costs in CM CAN be somewhat lower but at times, they can also be higher. Still, this city IS much cheaper than Bangkok, never mind Hong Kong/Kowloon (all places I DO adore and HAVE spent plenty of time in). Thanks for showing a part of the city near the apartment/flat complex I live in along Thapae Rd! 🙂

    Great info. Thank you.
    Mortgage under a third of your overall expenditure. Pretty good.
    In Western societies rent/mortgage payments are ordinarily significantly greater, in proportion.
    Pay the principal down as fast as humanly possible, wherever you live, is my advice.
    Owning as opposed to renting/mortgaging makes a life-changing difference to the daily financial pressures of life.

    Just come across your channel normaly i hate 99 percent of bloggers but you seem to keep it reall..what is your take on holiday accommodation i find it expensive all over Thailand.im just looking for accommodation on Meykong river in chian rai area .its going to hurt but my wife has work hard and we have just finished building our house so stressed out.in a hotel river views its going to cost us 8.500 for 7 days mind you the room in high season was much more expensive i just dont see how they can justify these prices..because wen i was paying rent at only 5.000 per month for 3 bed house here in lampang..yes i live here.... i find most bloggers sugar coating things saying how cheep it is when in fact its not and its not easy to find ...it has taken me 20 hours looking for best deal...cheers mate😮

    • @JonInChiangMai
      @JonInChiangMai  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks mate, appreciate that! Hmmm, holiday accommodation I find can be quite reasonable for a decent room. Here in Chiang Mai 600 a night could get a decent place, 1k could be a nice room. Over 2k and you're getting something very nice :)

      stringy vs luxuriant many different types of people… like for me I don’t drink,smoke or really ever party that cuts a whole lot for me on cost vs someone who indulges in all that daily and weekly … drinks and parties add up like crazy in Thailand for people who love those things
